Our favorite meal in New Orleans . Great food from aps to desert , must try the bread pudding desert. Service was also impeccable.
For a restaurant that requires a jacket after 5 and quite pricey I was expecting the food to be magnificent but my duck was fatty and chewy and I barely ate it. The steak was not too bad but overall thought quality of food would be nicer. Ambience and staff not too bad.
The French bread was amazing. The crabmeat Maison was exceptional. The shrimp étouffée was just ok. And the gumbo was not good.
Food and service was as good as ever but the noise level was so excessive despite the fact that there was only half the restaurant filled it made it virtually impossible to converse
Time tested. The best if the best. Treat yourself while in New Orleans. You're worth it.
Shelley was our server; a 31 year veteran of the restaurant. We put our gastronomic fate in his capable hands. He did not fail. Excellent choices and all delicious.
Highly recommend.
Not only very good food, but a great New Orleans experience!
Thank you so much for receiving us , amazing as always. Food delicious every time , and our server Skyp make ya feel very warm and welcome. Will be coming to this restaurant over and over again , every time I’m visiting NOLA.
We did not enioy this restaurant at all. The server was not attentive. He only came around to take our order and hand us our check. The fillets were undercooked (medium was rare/medium rare) and relatively flavorless. Sides lacked flavor as well. The only positive was a busser thay kept our waters full. Never once were we asked how our meal was nor were we given an opportunity to have our steaks re-fired to be cooked properly. Even if we werent tourists we would never go back.
Too pretentious for my taste. Okay with wearing a sports coat, but the ladies can dress however and in NOLA that can be a bit sleazy. Went with high expectations based on what others were saying, would not recommend. Also, as a former wine industry member (vineyard owner) the wine list appears to have construction by the distributors. More OR PN would bring some much needed balance.
Amazing as always!
We were very disappointed in our dining experience at Galatoire's. It was extremely loud the evening we were there which wasn't really the fault of the restaurant itself. The service was tag team style and not very attentive. Our meal was 'ok'. I felt like the description of the fish I ordered was not accurate and I felt like was overcooked. It was just not anything special. We will definitely not ever go back and will not recommend to friends.
While service was very friendly and accommodating, it was exceptionally slow. The menu, like the ambiance, is antiquated - not in an old-fashioned charming way, just outdated. With the exception of one appetizer, none of the food impressed and was surprisingly bland considering the cuisine.
You expect a restaurant overlooking Bourbon St to be a little noisy at any time of day, but the level INSIDE the restaurant was cacophonous - I could hardly hear our server and trying to talk with my husband ended up pointless.
Speaking of pointless, the dress code - if you're going to enforce one, commit. Loaner jackets are one thing, but you're not exactly elevating anything if they're loaned to go over jeans & sneakers.
Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Was the highlight of our trip.
Sons birthday
Nothing ruins a restaurant experience better than being told you "have" to go there are it turning out to be mediocre. Galatoire's may have long standing reputation for being the best on Bourbon Street, but for Pete's sake, they're still using canned peas and mushrooms in their recipes. Come on. You gotta keep up with the times: fresh ingredients at least, even if you want to keep your old recipes. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful if not trained in the ways of old world restaurants...hey, it's the Big Easy after all.
Great service. Food ok.
Amazing food. Some of the staff seemed put out when we asked for plates for the bread, but most were amazing.
This restaurant has been on my bucket list for years. I'm so glad I went. The service was impeccable, the food was excellent, and the upbeat, ambiance was exactly what I wanted.
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT SOMEONE CLEAN THE AIR CONDITIONING GRILLS THAT WERE COVERED IN WHAT LOOKED LIKE MOLD. FOOD AND SEVRVICE WERE GREAT. PLACE WAS A BIT LOUD
Was really disappointed to arrive at Galatoire's only to find out that our reservation for a 8:00 (through Open Table) was not honored. Restaurant was full and we were ushered to bar for a 20 minute wait until a table could be found. We elected to just dine in the adjacent steak house where the menu was diminished and the ambiance was almost as loud as the full restaurant. Historically, Galatoire's has been my favorite restaurant for it's delicious menu, great service, and classic and refined atmosphere. I'll give it another chance, but was really sad to not be able to introduce to my friends. They were good sports.
I ordered the Crab Yvonne, there werea lot of shells in it. I did let the waiter know. The noise level was high because of the kids beating on 5 gallon buckets with drumsticks outside. Overall a very nice place with good food!
Over priced
Food didn’t blow us away
Waiter broke glass which we understand is an accident but glass went flying everywhere
Seems like an old classic that just doesn’t stand up to the times and current competition
Can’t begin to describe how wonderful the food is there!
Sunny, our waitress, was fantastic!!
Too noisy. Food was not hot. Thought we would dine upstairs so mad reservations
All you can ask in a restaurant is provided at Galitore's.
Great food, impeccable service. You pay for what you get and it is worth it!
I love this place, from the waiters to the old-school feel of the place and of course the food. I had turtle soup to start followed by broiled red fish. Delicious! My husband had the house salad followed by veal liver. His complaint was that the portion was too big, first world problem for sure. This is for sure one of our favorites down here.
Food wasn’t worth the 100 plus dollars spent and the restaurant was louder then a sports bar.
Cold food, lack of taste in food and waiter wasn’t very attentive to say the least. Definitely won’t be going there again not recommending anyone else either.
Staff was rude. Food was nothing special. Lights were glaring. Our least pleasant dining experience of our weekend in New Orleans and one we were looking forward to. Disappointed.
We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant after reading so many reviews and given the reputation they have. Unfortunately it was very disappointing, tasteless food and service staff that didn’t care.
Without question, the finest restaurant in New Orleans! Walking into Galatoire's is like stepping back in time 100 years, to a time when service was impeccable, and creating wonderful Creole dishes was an art. We've dined at some of the world's best places, and I would put Galatoire's easily in the top five.
Our dishes (potato souffle, trout almondine, crab Yvonne, caramel custard, and bread pudding) were perfectly prepared, and Skip's service was spot on.
The BEST experience in New Orleans by far!
Adam our server was excellent, very attentive. The food was superb. The atmosphere pleasurable. A genuinely wonderful experience.
When in New Oreans, we always come here for lunch. The best. Everything great but the best Eggs Benedict!
Service was excellent. Server was very good about explaining the various wines and various dishes. She was very prompt. Food was ok. Being a local I just expected more. Ambience was filled with joyous, excited people! It was a very good experience.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Service was a tad slow but otherwise a terrific lunch.
Had the best sweetbreads ever. Fish was just okay.
As always, service and food were outstanding. Wonderful evening with my wife.
Always a must go to when in New Orleans. The entire restaurant sang to me for my birthday. Food and service was fantastic as always. Thank you amazing consistency and experience
we arrived early and were seated before our reservation time of 715P. He sat us at the beginning of the dining area close to the door. Our server showed up Ruchell and was very generous with her time and explaining the menu at that time. However, once she took our order... and the food was served she kept herself at the back of the room talking to two elderly couples. The servers with the white uniform were the ones taking care of us. I wasn't impressed with my meal fish and potatoee au gratin but my husband liked his very much. We ordered key lime.. and it shocked me the top was FULL of whip cream. we removed the whip cream and they had placed a dullop of gelatine key lime. WHAT??? a restaurant that makes men use jackets served this horrible key lime. So our server was not where to be found and the waiter with the white uniform replaced it with another one no whip cream. Well it was horrible they just dump 2 dullops of the gelatine that was supposed to me creammy key lime. Then our servier showed up and said I wouldn't have recommended the key lime.. Hello why didn't she say anything.. she brought a flan.. that was not a flan.. this chef needs training in dessert.. flan was sturdy not creamy and it did taste like supermarket flan. Overall a FIASCO.. never again going there.. The waitress didn't charge us for the dessert like a BIG DEAL.. but she charged my husband for the french coffeee.. no customer service.. and of course we pay she never came back to apologize when we were paying and kept hersel talking to the elderly couples at the back.
