Barely touched my entree and only finished my appetizer because it was so small.
First visit, even after five previous trips to New Orleans. Lovedit! Loved the vibe, food service. Loved it all. Will absolutely go back on next visit.
A great restaurant to celebrate my husbands birthday...professional, nice waiter, excellent food. A bit noisy on the first floor as the restaurant starting filling up, but over all a great experience.
This was our 3rd meal at Falatoire in 20 years. We were so looking forward to it and came away disappointed. Our appetizers and soups were excellent. Four of our 5 entrees were underwhelming, not hot and lacking. Too many shells and pin bones. We skipped dessert. Our service was rushed.

Noise on Sunday night very off putting. Food and service remains great... but noise was unbearable.
The food was delicious but the food service concentrated on getting us up and out. We ordered drinks and practically before we had our second sip our appetizers arrived. Before we finished our oysters the waiter hovered over us looking for a place to set down our main course. Elegant dining it was not.
Went there for a Saturday night dinner. Our reservation for 2 turned into 3 at the last minute and the restaurant was able to accommodate us (it was early in the evening). Definitely old school New Orleans food. Shawn, our waiter, was fantastic - gracious and easily able to navigate through the multiple food limitations we had (shellfish for one, gluten for another) My salmon was cooked as ordered and the others enjoyed their dinner as well (one had salad with grilled chicken and I can't remember the other). We ordered dessert and my bread pudding was amazing. It was a very nice evening.
Expensive and the food was mediocre at best - highly overpriced. The staff were friendly, but it's definitely a restaurant that remains open due to it's name, not it's food. I strongly recommend going somewhere else.
Worst meal we had in New Orleans. My children ordered a bottle of wine for my husbands birthday. Never a mention or presentation about it. Turtle soup was the only good part of the meal. I will say Sonny our waiter was great. He realized that we were completely forgotten about after being seated. 20 minutes and still no menus. Sony tried to make up for it but it was t possible. Red lobster would have tasted better.

Galatoire’s never disappoints! This old school joint is just too delicious to miss whenever we are in New Orleans. A jacket is required for gentlemen for dinner but they offer an assortment of jackets for you to borrow if you forget to bring one. Any fish dish is a good choice! My personal favorites are duck crepe, foie gras, Shrimp or crawfish etouffee. They make a great filet mignon if you are bringing someone that doesn’t like seafood.
First of all, there is a dress code - men must wear a jacket. They have some you can borrow if you didn't pack one. Fun, old-fashioned environment. What I really liked was that they do not rush you. You can order drinks. After they come, they ask if you're ready to order a starter, and when you'd like to order your mains, etc. Our server, Amber, was fantastic, but the entire team was lovely. She recommended a fish and sauce that paired well, as well as a side. Excellent drinks and food. Hard to choose among the desserts - I wanted to try them all.
As expected the service and food was exceptional. This is my 7th visit and I always look forward to returning.

This was my first visit to this classic New Orleans spot and I was not disappointed. I know "old favorites" sometimes rest on their reputation but I was very pleased with my experience. The elegant dining room of french blue and many windows sets an ambiance of style and grace mirrored by the expert service of the staff. With more locals than tourists dining there, I felt a part of the real New Orleans. The food was great. Seafood gumbo with a light roux was delicate but flavorful and full of crab, oysters and shrimp; sauteed soft shell crab was delectably perfect and the red fish was very good. My companion enjoyed a crab and artichoke dish that he really enjoyed. A special place.
The service was impeccable. Brittney was on her game, every recommendation was spot on. Elegant but comfortable, formal and beautiful. Everyone was on point tonight. Try it all, the appetizer sampler was worth every tasty calorie.
Galatoire’s is always top of the line! I always look forward to eating there. Every phase of the experience was wonderful.
After all these years, they’ve still got it. Not quite as perfect as my rosy colored memory but still fantastic.
My family went for my daughter's birthday and made a reservation on Open Table. The restaurant was crowded and they took us right away. The food and experience was fantastic and everyone in the restaurant sang Happy Birthday to my daughter. She had a fantastic birthday. Thanks Galatoire's restaurant.
Great food and service as always. Staff very attentive. One of the few places left where quality and service are still provided each and every time.
We have a sentimentality around this place, but each time we return, we notice that the food is losing it’s staying power. The boulliabaise was thin and lacked flavor, the pompano amandine overcooked and dry and the green salad was droopy and overdressed. The mainstay appetizers are still fair and the gumbo and drinks were great. We brought our 89 year old dad and son who has moved to NOLA for work. Dad really noticed the slide since the good old days. Sadly, this may have been our last visit. 😢

It has been nearly 40 years since I had eaten at Galatoire’s and I could not wait to have their trout meunière—I was not disappointed. Regrettably, we were seated near the service are and the noise and activity were a distraction. Evidently, the restaurant had expanded since my last visit and the increased size has come with a side of noise that was not part of the more intimate space in the ‘80s. I will return some day and request a table away from the back of the house.

The food was good. But not as good as last time I dined there. The service was fine. With so many other top notch restaurants to choose from, I wouldn't say this was a stand out. The highlight of our meal was the dessert. The pecan bourbon pie.
My husband and I travel for food. We research far in advance.... We read several books and cookbooks on the history and recipes of this restaurant.
Upon arrival of our reservation the gentleman attending the door looked us up and down and said “we have a strict dress code and sir, your shorts are not acceptable”. Completely caught off guard I replied “I was not aware of your dress code when making reservations online.” The lady assisting him tried to take over as I could tell she was not pleased with his reaction either...he then commented “you cannot eat here but let me try to make sure you get points online for coming in.” I told him do not worry about it and we left. I am seven months pregnant and was in a very appropriate dress. My husband was in a collared shirt and shorts as we had been site seeing in the heat all day.
I hope they take this comment as constructive criticism of how not treat potential customers that may not be aware of your “strict dress code.”
We dine at the finest restaurants all over the world and have never been treated with such disrespect.
We LOVED his place! If you don’t want to wait for downstairs definitely come around 2:45. Still a scene!
We were so delighted with our lunch spent at Galatoire's!!!! Sonny and the other wait staff was so attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food was phenomenal especially my soft shell crab that covered the entire plate. Can't wait until another occasion to book again.
Maybe was once great, but now past its prime. Living off its past glory.Got there at 9:30 for last seating and there were few occupied tables, so maybe that had something to do with it.
Food was good, by not amazing. Service was OK, but not fantastic. Overall an OK place but certainly not what it once might have been.

Super Fresh, Super Delicious! Many people were there celebrating Birthdays and the restaurant had the whole restaurant sing “Happy Birthday” which I thought was very kind. They made you feel like family. Definitely will be back!
We were grateful to be able to add 2 more to our party the week of the reservation when we contacted the manager that was kind enough to do so. The food was delicious and we could not complain. Everyone had a good experience with their meals. The menu has some create options. Unfortunately our service was below what would be expected. Our server was not attentive and unfriendly. Not the typical experience we received at other restaurants especially at this price point. I would not recommend this restaurant. It is good food, but at this price point I believe there are other dining options in NOLA.
30th wedding anniversary. Food and service was spot on. We will be returning next trip to New Orleans whether it's a special occasion or not!
I had lunch and dinner in the downstairs dining room. I have been coming to Galatoires for years and it never disappoints. The gumbo is outstanding and the red fish is terrific. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I also appreciate that they maintain a dress code. The service was also fantastic.
A superb lunch with excellent recommendations from the knowledgeable and very helpful Dom. We were in the upstairs restaurant which suited us as the downstairs was more for groups who were animated. We loved the goute share dish of crab and shrimp washed down with a delightful bottle of Chablis. A perfect afternoon with family and friends. Would love to do it all over again.
