We are from Seattle so fine dining is a "must". Touring the American Great Lakes, in our pre-travel research, the one destination that grabbed our attention for great food was Tracey's (we even changed our itinerary to make this reservation happen). The indoor seating is light and airy and a great setting to end a perfect day of cruising "Pictured Rocks". Tracey's absolutely did not disappoint. From the appetizers (spring rolls- a tasty modern take on lumpia shanghai; breaded cheese curds- as comforting as comfort food gets savory seasoned) to the delicious main courses (pork belly, bison short rib ragout, potato chip encrusted whitefish, & trout hemingway; all too mouth watering to describe in words -- the best description was "you can taste all the simple flavors in one terrific explosion in your mouth") and to the final sweet notes of dessert (creme brulee- perfect example of how one should be made and taste special with a garnish of "thimbleberry glass"; miner's delight- a yummy discovery of complimentary flavors), this is a highly recommended culinary experience. Very special "thank you" to Heather our server and kudos to Ana (hope spelling is correct, I believe you own this fine establishment... you were very friendly and helpful to your guests and your staff). Willow sits perched on historic Bay St. overlooking the beautiful waters of Little Traverse Bay in downtown Harbor Springs. The restaurant boasts an airy dining room with a rustic, yet modern atmosphere that pays homage to the beauty of Northern Michigan. Helmed by Chef Daniel Rutkowski, the menu embodies Modern American cuisine with an authentic approach to farm-to-table cooking, in which ingredients drive the menu. Rutkowski’s style is simple, but creative and refined, with a lean on his Midwestern roots and expansive culinary rapport. At the bar, Willow is complemented by a thoughtfully sourced wine and craft cocktail program that focuses on seasonality and the freshest local ingredients.More
Discover Northern Michigan
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a heavily forested region rich in game. This area features plenty of outdoor activities and a short but produce-rich summer season. Multiple wineries dot Northern Michigan, offering tastings and dining options paired with the intense and fruity wines made from short-season grapes. Freshwater fish, both cooked and smoked, are abundant and prepared to perfection. Fans of craft beer will enjoy both the beverages and the views of the surrounding lakes in the gorgeous country north of Lake Michigan. If the chill is hard to shake, you can warm things up in Marquette with a Cajun dinner. Be sure to save room for dessert. The Upper Peninsula is rich with wild berries, and you can't leave without trying some pie!
