The Thumb region in Michigan encompasses Sanilac, Tuscola and Huron Counties and is home of the Sanilac Petroglyphs, which are sandstone carvings made by Native Americans. This area features many family-owned-and-operated orchards that have restaurants where you can enjoy a relaxed lunch of locally grown produce, apple pies and bread with preserves. The Thumb also has many German-themed restaurants where you could try a dinner of bratwurst topped with grilled onions and bell peppers served with sauerkraut, potato salad and apfelstrudel.
