Ordered Moscow miles but all the cups were in use at 1 table
We decided to change things up for Thanksgiving & drove almost 2 hours to enjoy the day in Port Huron. Definitely a great choice. Everything from the ambiance, food, to the phenomenal service by Nichole. We enjoyed every second of our time. The spinach & artichoke dip is amazing and the portion sizes are perfect!! We are excited to visit again! Port Huron is such a great town, that doesn’t get enough notice.
Ordered steak medium rare and was delivered to the table rare. Not a huge fan of sending food back as I’ve heard horror stories of what happens to food that’s sent back (in general).
Everything was excellent! The food was absolutely wonderful and the view is fantastic.
Friendly staff, slow service, great view of the river. Many gluten free options. Great place to go for conversation and view, as long as you're not in a rush.
We ate dinner at freighters. We had a table with waterview. Service was good. However my maple glazed salmon was really salmon with gravy. Mashed potatoes were cold. House salad was excellent though. My husband's perch was more like fish sticks. We went back for breakfast next morning and had the same great table. We had lots of hot coffee. My breakfast croissant was very nice. But my husband's potatoes were cold and the eggs over easy were overcooked. We enjoyed the view and the pleasant service both times but if we ever return it would be for drinks appetizers and coffee dessert.
We have been to Frieghters a couple of times and it has never disappointed, good food and great value.
Chef Jared! Best in the business! Don’t miss his specials!
Great Riverview seat, decided on the seasonal pork chop with sweet potato pure, seasonal veggie was broccolini Chop was perfectly cooked was extremely impressed. For such a tall chop, seat was excellent and no bone. Sweet potatoes fantastic. Lot of them as well. Had a blueberry glaze that didn’t do it for me (dislike blueberries). But had a sweet taste and really complimented the pork. Broccolini was out late and a little undercooked but seasoning was on point. Other entree was turkey burger. Looked extremely well put together with a crisp brioche bun and smoked Gouda cheese. Kicker was roasted corn on top of burger. Great idea and flavor was great.
All in all was very good. Will go back again
Side dishes all came out on the cold side? Service was decent , view is great,
We liked it here. Nice view of the blue water bridge. After dinner took a walk across the street to the boardwalk. Saw a few freighters go by. The food was good, mixed drinks were good. Had happy hour beer specials. This restaurant is inside a hotel which I suppose could make it busier at certain times from hotel guest. Overall I can recommend it, especially if you want something different from your everyday neighborhood dinner locations.
Love the Mac and Cheese. The waitress was great...pleasant and informative. She took great care of us. Food was good and we loved being able to see the freighters go by. (Just wish there was a monitor so you could look up the boats that are coming.)
Food was just ok. The view is spectacular though. Waitress was good.
Very good service. Food was fair so when combine with prices it was not a good value for $ spent. 8 people in our group and 3 were very unhappy when food was delivered cold. Food portions were on the small side but taste was good. Manger did compensate for the cold food but would have been happy to pay full price for it to have been delivered correctly the first time.
Delicious! Wonderful ambience! Great service! Always enjoy this restaurant!
We were there over a hour before we even go our food and it wasn't busy at all. The food was bland, steaks were overcooked, and a bit pricey to not even include a small dinner salad. Our server was great though very friendly.
Pretty rude waitress. The freighter’s house salad was delicious along with lobster mac and cheese! The outside evening atmosphere with the live music from the hotel was all worth it!
The view was beautiful, parking was easy. The fried calamari was great, the Clam chowder was ok, the salad was great, but the main courses needed a lot of help. I ordered the fish tacos which were less than average at best and my wife got beer battered chicken strips which were average. I was expecting greater things after hearing so many great reviews.
Service was fast, food was good, view was tremendous.
Greeted right away when we arrived. Table was ready. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and not overpriced. View was fantastic. I would go back again for sure.
Our reservation stated that we wanted a table in the quietest area (which I request because my husband is hard of hearing). We were seated a couple tables away from a large party celebrating a special event, allowing a child in their party to run around and jump up on the seats. We were just around the corner from a ramp and the employees congregated behind the wall there to loudly talk. We could also hear a lot of loud banging, which we assume was coming from the kitchen. And, we were directly under a speaker and they turned the music down for us because it was so loud. When we left, my husband commented that the upper dining area and even the bar were both quieter than our area and he was right!
My menu had crumbs and food stains on it.
Waiter was nice but not very attentive.
Husband ordered his burger “well done but not burnt” - it was very dark on the outside but just medium on inside. Waiter had it remade and removed it from our check, which was nice.
Chowder was thick and chewy and a sour/lemon-y taste. Won’t order that again here... I ordered a side of mac & cheese as my entree - requested it extra hot and it was barely lukewarm. Had it heated up and ate what I wanted of my microwaved food before my husband got his new burger. (Didn’t like the soup or mac and cheese enough to finish them.)
There was an employee cleaning the floor around us and she was crawling on her knees from table to table. I can appreciate deep cleaning but that was just weird...
We love the Twisted Rooster in Belleville but 2 of our 3 visits at Freighters have been disappointing.
Our servers were very good, service in general was good. I personally was very disappointed with my food. Ordered a salad with grilled chicken on top. The chicken was so tough I couldn’t eat it, waitress got me another chicken brest that wasn’t much better.
My husband and son ordered chili, came cold. They had to return to warm them up. That shouldn’t happen!
I’m not sure I would return.
We made reservations for our anniversary a week in advance and requested a table with a view of the water. We were told no problem until we arrived and they told us there were no Riverview seatings left. There were at least 3 tables with views that remained empty during our entire dinner. Staff could not explain why we were not able to seat us at a table with a water view.
Great view and great food. It took a long time (over 30 min) for the food to come out even though the restaurant was not crowded. Beverage refills were fairly long in between.
There were several very large groups in the dining room. Hoping that the sheer volume that the kitchen was preparing food for was what impacted the quality of the food we were served.
Waitstaff was totally overwhelmed. Manager had his hands full.
We've been here when everything was perfect, so we will give it another shot in the autumn.
The views from the patio were fantastic. We could see the Casino in Canada and a perfect view of the water. The outside and inside were clean and had a warm feel to it. The food was okay, but maybe I just got a dish that wasn't a speciality. I ordered the chicken carbonara and my boyfriend ordered the barbeque salmon. He LOVED his salmon. My pasta was okay, a little on the bland side, but I like spicy food and thought maybe that was why. All in all, a cool place for a date.
We stopped for lunch on our way through to Canada, and as others have mentioned, the views from tables near the windows of the river traffic and the international bridge are great. We were glad for both having made a reservation through Open Table and being seated at a window booth, as a convention had overwhelmed the restaurant with a long line waiting to be seated. Most ahead of us in the line were told it would be a 60 minute wait for a table. We were seated as soon as we made it to the front of the line, and waited with drinks and a great view for 30 to 40 minutes until our lunch order arrived. The waitress who took our order was personable and did what she could, but the food preparation staff must have been understaffed and overwhelmed. The food was very good once it arrived.
Had two very good different meals. Husband loved the shrimp, calimari and pasta. My steak was cooked too long, but very tasty. Add ons were also very good.
We chose Freighters for the view more than the food. The food is pretty good...not fantastic. They have a pretty decent beer and wine menu. The service is always good.
Excellent food and service. We had a lovely view of the river. I appreciate their commitment to using Michigan products. Would love to go again.
We visited it twice this week. One day our server was new at Freighters but that should not have been an excuse for mischarging us 3 times on the bill. Miss having the daily specials-the summer specials don't do it for us. Lobster mac was tasty but very light on the lobster.
It was a beautiful summer day on the patio for dinner. We were disappointed with the food. It was not up to the Freighters standards we had experienced several other times. The item we asked for was not available. Our substitute meal was served ...mashed potatoes were warm, at best, and the green beans were tough. Really disappointing.....
Don’t know how to handle reservations. It was 6 on Saturday night and out of a lot of items. Took forever to get our food!
Great scenery looking out on the water front. Restaurant was clean and service was good.
White fish was hard crusted and, I thought, overcooked. Not the way I like it, but maybe that's just me. Clam chowder was outstanding, Whitefish spread was good, but nothing special. View is great.
Great view of the river and boats/freighters, that is where the “good” stopped!
We had a new waiter that wanted to talk to us on a personal level way to much... He’s there to offer professional waiter service and not to be a social friend.
We took notice that the manager was bringing out an appetizer to a table next to us after the food had been delivered. She apologized for the tardinesss of the appetizer and told the couple it would be taken off their tab.
We didn’t think to much of this until a few minutes later the table to the other side of us complained of late food and then of lukewarm food.
We tried to stay positive and give the benefit of the doubt...until our food came out.
It wasn’t late per day, but both mine and my daughters meals were less than lukewarm.
We didn’t complain at all as we wanted to keep a positive outlook to our evening, but the food was just about cold and the portions were smaller than you’d anticipate for the cost!
Overall I was very disappointed in the food preparation, service, and meal portions.
I would not visit this establishment again. Not worth the price or the quality!
If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve been here before in years Past and it was great, not anymore. Overall the worst dining experience of my life. We waited two hours for food and when it arrived it was cold and horrible. They ended up comping the whole bill, but I would have rather paid for a decent evening out. Do not go here if you sMf a decent meal, which is sad because they have a great view.
I have visited this place a few times in the past and all was good. The view of the river is nice especially at night.
However this last visit became an experience that I wish to forget. I was treating a friend to a birthday dinner and they put a new waitress with too many tables to wait on with us. Sadly, she became overwhelmed on a Saturday night and rarely visited our table.
When we received 2 of our entrées from a different wait staff, the guest of honor did not get hers. About 5 minutes later, the manager came out to apologize that they kitchen forgot to make her entrée and removed it from the bill. That was fine but when I started eating my perch dinner, I noticed 3 burnt pieces which the kitchen staff had hid under 3 not burnt pieces. Unfortunately, this was the first time I sent anything back.
Also, the mashed potatoes did not have any cream, was made from redskin potatoes which should have been stated and was cold.
I may give them 1 more chance but definitely not for a special occasion because I don't want the guest of honor to experience this again.
First time visit, food was great beautiful view of the water
