We had a very good dinner with the exception of the Caesar salad which was not especially fresh. A large table of folks seated close to us were noisy.
Otherwise, it was a nice experience.
Very nice steakhouse with excellent food. You may not want to eat all day before coming in for dinner.
Great experience. Fantastic service. Great food. Exactly what I have come to expect at Frankies!
Our waiter was Alex. He was great. Friendly, funny and full of personality. His service was wonderful. He almost came to the table too much. The food was really great. We would definitely dine here again and recommend to friends.
Great Meal and our server Candace was awesome.
This restaurant clearly tries hard, but that’s where it ends. Service was good, steak was excellent, remainder of the food was okay, at best.
It was really good. The food was wonderful! There was an office party and they were extremely loud. They had a lot to drink.
Good food and wine and very nice folks serving us
We had the half dozen raw and half dozen Rockefeller oysters, duck leg confit for appetizers and the filet entree with mushrooms and Brussels. I would give it 8.5 of 10 only for dry duck and too much spice on the oysters Rockefeller. Overall 4.5 of 5. Good experience.
It’s very pricy but worth it. Service was great, food and drinks were also great. We had awesome seating which just made our fancy date night even better.
Excellent service. Great food. Did have higher expectations of the steak.
Outstanding food and wine paired with exceptional service.
Christina our waitress was excellent! Food was very good and the wine
One of the best meals. Sommelier helped use pair the perfect wine with our meal. It’s our new favorite steak house. Highly recommend.
We had a fantastic time. Many thanks to the staff who made our first dinner out in months an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Great food, wonderful service. Excellent wine list. Can be noisy if large parties are present,
We went here for our anniversary. The service and food is excellent! After cocktails, for our appetizers we had shrimp cocktail and seared scallops which were cooked to perfection. We split the cowboy cut waygu rib eye steak and a side of asparagus and for dessert the creme Brûlée. For an upscale restaurant, the price was reasonable for the experience. We will come here again.
The food was delicious, plentiful and we were treated like royalty.
Good onion rings great. Salad great. Steak good. Very expensive steak

So, I was not going to write a public review, I wrote a personal letter to the manager instead. Bit it’s been 3 weeks with no response, so here goes.
We’ve been here yearly for too many to count . For the 1 hour drive it way, it will now be many more years before we return.
The good - the waiter was attentive, the crab appetizer was excellent and the dessert crepe brûlée’s was also excellent.
The bad - the salad but really , jarred bacon bits instead of real crumbled bacon ? The loaded baked potato was the same - imitation bacon. Really ? A four $$$$ restaurant should do better . But then the steak! It was not cooked to our request so we sent it back . It was ok the second time around, but it had an ‘old’ or ‘spoiled’ taste. We just couldn’t describe it. We ate it , but for the price it was a major disappointment.
We do not drink alcohol but instead always get bottled sparkling water . How can you mess this up? , they did by changing to a never heard of brand.
The other dessert was a chocolate lava cake , this was stale , clearly warmed by the microwave.
For the $125 + $25 tip (do the math - $150) we will not be back .
Lastly , three staff were without face masks when we went to use the restrooms, clearly a VA health department violation.
Sorry Frankie Rowland’s, no recommendations from us .
Staff was excellent. Food was excellent. Overall good experience.
Thia was our first time at Frankie Rowland's Steakhouse, I wanted to take my wife out for our 32nd anniversary and I surely wanted to impress her with a special dinner and this was one of best if not the best restaurant we have been to. The food was an experience of flavors beyond what we may have expected. Will surely be back!
Celebrated birthday and new job announcement. We were seated by a large table of 25 - they were extremely loud and rude. My party of 3 could hardly hear each other.
Everything was perfect! The staff was attentive and courteous
The hands down best steak house in Southwest Virginia. The food quality here rivals the quality found in the best steak houses in Washington, DC. Started off the evening with the house special pineapple martinis. Guarantee you have never had a martini like it. We skipped th appetizers because the portions are huge at Frankie's My wife ordered the 20 oz prime ribeye and I went with the Kansas City cut 20 oz prime sirloin. Be aware that the steaks here are cooked to top steak house standards, so your medium rare will ave a cool red cente, medium is pink throughout. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, mine medium rare plus and my wife's medium,. The steaks were accompanied with salads and a loaded baked potato. We split the potato because it is a gigantic 1 pounder. We left completely satisfied and perhaps a little tipsy. It's hard to have just one pineapple martini. Frankie's is on the pricier side of the restaurants in Roanoke but if you're looking for a special place with outstanding food, there's no place better in our town. You won't be disappointed.
This is a wonderful restaurant that I highly recommend. Great service and excellent food and dining experience
Undercooked filet mignon (ordered medium but it was cool and deep red in the middle) lobster tail tasted like it was spoiled or old, water crackers served with crab dip..that seemed cheap, bruschetta would have been higher end.
Excellent meal and great service - would return on our next visit to Roanoke
We had a party of 7 and had to eat in the conference room rather than the main dining room. My wife was unhappy with this, however, a couple of desserts were complimented which we all appreciated.
Pretty great place, a bit pricey but worth the customer service level. Not really impressed with the types of customers they let in. My date and I had to listen to some rejects from the Jerry Springer show loudly discussing fist fights and drama they had been in recently, among other things. (Not really the type of people I imagine being surrounded by when I make reservations at a cultured restaurant). Other than that, everything was fantastic! Service staff was amazing, food was divine. Will possibly repeat (on a slower crowd night).
Great experience as always. We have started several traditions by eating at Frankie’s on holidays and special occasions. The food quality and service is equal to or exceeds Morton’s and Ruth Chris. We highly recommend Frankie’s to anyone visiting Roanoke—it will be a grand experience. Our steaks were charred more than usual, Pittsburgh style. A wonderful surprise. We will be back for Thanksgiving. No turkey for us.
The food was the best I’ve ever had at Frankie’s. The steaks were on point, and all the sides were scrumptious. It was nice to see so many people out during these times with so much enthusiasm and great energy in the space. Thank you for being such a lovely place together. We were in with friends from out of town and had the best time ever!
Amazing service and food. Very knowledgeable staff. Definitely made our anniversary a great one.
First time out dining since the world changed. The staff took all appropriate precautions while maintaining excellent service and great food.
We've been married 56 years. We still try to make each and every anniversary celebration "special". Frankie Rowland Steakhouse is a 100 mile (each direction) drive from our residence. This was our fourth return visit to this fine restaurant. The entire staff is doing an excellent job. The food was supurb!
Loved the food and the service. We will be back when you all are back in business. Thank you for a fantastic birthday celebration.
The steamed lobster was some of the best I've ever had! Everything was phenomenal. We will be back!
Went there over the weekend to celebrate a friends belated birthday. Food was great as usual - but the service was really not up to par. Took forever to get some of the drinks. About 10 minutes to get sauces for one of the appetizers. And the end of the meal we were talking and the server kept coming over - it was seemed clear that she thought we were taking too long (and it wasn’t that they were busy and someone was waiting for the table which I could somewhat forgive).
This is my favorite restaurant in the Roanoke area - my wife and I go there multiple times a year. This visit was disappointing. Hopefully just an off night! Would still recommend highly as this was really not typical at all!
Excellent venue with dress code clearly posted on their door and website. Highly recommend for a romantic date night!
It was a very special dinner and outstanding evening. Our waitor was excellent. Excellent service, excellent food and excellent staff (every staff member). We will be back.
