Wanting to find somewhere nice to finish off a anniversary celebration trip before our red eye flight home, we went due to the Michelin Historic designation. Yes, it's historic. Yes, the decor is historic and interesting. That is where the allure wanes. The food was mediocre. The service was merely adequate. The restroom was akin to your run of the mill truckstop. We ordered three of their "signature" dishes... the dumpling appetizer, the wonton soup and the brandy fried chicken. The dumplings were ok, much aided by the sauces they provided. The soup was good, but nothing to write home about. It was however the star of the show. The chicken was supposed to be a half chicken. What came out was greasy & like the rest of the meal, clearly had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile, even though we were seated at 5 pm, but I digress... It came out with three wings, one leg & two thighs. I asked Carmen our server (who was very nice but a little daft) about it and she tried to shade us with "well, it's the weight"... I said, "come on Carmen, that's silly, this is only half a chicken if the carnival is in town". She got her manager who profusely apologized and offered to get us something else. At that point we were done and opted out of any more of Frank Fats. Everything is a la carte, which means even a paltry serving of cold white rice is an extra $3... whatever... I have to give them props for the martinis that were good, but that at least is to be expected in a haunt for politicians over the years. Frank Fats it seems has had better days. We took the apologetic slice of banana pie for the flight home and stopped at In & Out for a burger to hold us over.

My parents started coming here in the early 80's. We have been coming ever since - always consistently good. Could have had more duck for the price of 1/2 Peking Duck, but it was outstanding. Wish they still had the pancakes as an option. Green/Long Beans are great.

This was quite a disappointment, considering the history and accolades surrounding this restaurant. Although I made a reservation several weeks in advance, we were seated at the very last booth in the back, right next to the kitchen door. Nevertheless, we were excited to try the food. We hoped to start with the shrimp purses but Michelle, our server, told us they didn't have them. Not that they were out of them, but that they simply don't serve them. Not sure why they can't just remove that from the menu? Had the pot stickers instead ... meh. The seasonal mushrooms and mustard greens was quite tasty. However, the mustard greens were cooked and served as large, full leaves with fairly robust ribs, making this dish difficult to enjoy. The seafood pot also was disappointing as the seafood was overcooked. Our last dish (my standard for evaluating Chinese cuisine) was the Ma Po Tofu. The tofu was not silken and it was overwhelmed by the very heavy sauce. On a positive note ... we left with plenty of room for dessert at Gunther's!!

Absolutely delicious! Wish we would have had room for their signature banana cream pie.

Great food. Most of the waiting staff pretty poor apart from Alison. Experience on the whole pretty average. If you just want to to eat good food and go in 45 mins this is your place. Also don’t order the flank steak. Tough as old boots. However, the manager listened to our concerns and responded well. I just wanted a better experience to be honest. Nobody actually enjoys complaining when they have booked to eat in an apparently ‘world famous restaurant’
