We come to Floyd's on a regular basis. About once a month or so. The food is very good. We have liked everything we have tried. As usual the service is just not up to par. Need more waiters. We were seated promptly but then it took much too long to get ours drinks. After that the service was better.
very nice experience . waiter and staff were great !!!!
We went on Sunday for the buffet brunch. We were able to sit outside and enjoy a nice breeze it was cloudy so didn't get too hot. Being able to look out over the water and watching the boats was nice and relaxing.
The food was good and there was a nice variety. I especially enjoyed the peel and eat boiled shrimp and the make your own Bloody Mary table. There were salads, soups, entrees and omelets.
My husband took me here for destination date to have dinner and watch sunset. Big letdown. The location and view are excellent. The menu is interesting and the food was good, not great. The service was terrible and the high prices lead to high expectations and they missed the mark. I would recommend going here for a beer and appetizers to watch sunset but don't splurge on the dinner, not worth the $$. Too bad because had great potential.
Such a great experience!! Food was awesome, ample room to spread out with a large family. Loved it!
Good food. Service was a bit slow but they did have a number of very large (over 20) people at a number of tables
Well to be honest don't tell anyone to go there. I don't want anybody to know. !!!
Keep it just our secret.
Buy a BIG dinner and TIP well.......
Spend on the great bottle of wine....
Look out at the boats.
Be very very quiet.!!!
Our waitress was just awesome. She was very attentive, checking on us , refilling glasses and asking if we needed anything.
The food was just fantastic. All 5 of us enjoyed ourselves so much. View of the marina was so very nice.
We will be back soon.
It was good and I was excited for my friends and family to try it out but the food wasn't as good as it normally is and the waitress had a hard time keeping up. We chose this place for my birthday. We probably won't be bringing big groups here again.
Enjoyed the quiet time for my husband's birthday with the family. The service was great. The view breath taking! Will visit again with friends.
Floyds on the water was clean, great atmosphere, good food and service.
Great view with family. The food was great.
We were looking for somewhere new to try on our last night in Galveston. It was really good. Our waitress was awesome. The kids even got to see some magic.
My husband and I went to celebrate Father's Day. Our server Ryan was excellent! The food was good. The best is the location. Right on the water. We will go back.
The food was good, especially the calamari, but the bread pudding was terrible. It had no taste at all. Drinks were good. They were friendly. Just a tad slow, but I am sure it was because we had such a large party (21). We had a great time and will return.
Had a good time for Fathers Day with my kids. The food is good and I would recommend it for one of the out of the way spots of the mainstream radar. They have top shelf bourbon which i like and good appetizers.
Went on Father's Day. I have been to other Floyd's locations, mostly Beaumiont, on way to Casinos. This place, not being open but 4 days a week is a wreck. The Waitstaff, Hostess, Bartender, are CLUELESS, and SLOW. I have seen a GLACIER move faster. We first ordered the Brunch Buffet and it was cold and gone, so we nixed that. The crab bisque was good, but my Gumbo was COLD !!!!! We ordered stone crab claws and they were cooked away, to MUSH !! and the MAHI MAHI with a crabcake was ok but the crabcake was Doughy (SEE VIC AND ANTHONYS for a correct crabcake) SAD !!!!
Great food with a great view. Very pleasant dining experience. Have had Sunday brunch here numerous times.
I think if they played some jazz music or soft music that would help ,the chairs are very loud when people are getting up, they close at 10 we were told because the mosquitoes are bad out there near all the lakes......
Our waiter started us out with to-go cups with no explanation as to why we couldn't have glass ware for dinner service. The waiter intentionally avoided our table and ignored us when we asked for things. Then the food was over priced for small portions, not enough rice served with et toufe and was over priced on a secondary small bowl of rice. It was for Father's Day for our family, and the service and food did not match the price on the menu. This is not our first time to Floyd's, but we probably won't be back. We have been three times for family functions and have yet to have good service and food beyond mediocre.
Seated quickly, 1hr + before water, tea, silver arrived. 2+ hrs before food arrived. Most was cold. The only hot food was the order they completely forgot, and when asked, they prepared it. Brought check without tip. That was thoughtful but I felt they put the whole problem on the server, without helping her. I still gave 15%. Felt bad for her.
This is a seafood place and much of the food was very good but the plate just didn't fit together. The restaurant is on the water at a marina and has a very good view but the restaurant can't decide if it wants to be a locals seafood restaurant and be a upscale restaurant. The decor tries to be more upscale but doesn't make it. They need to hire a great interior designer and decide what they want this restaurant to be. The big box room we were in had a 30 foot ceiling and was very uncomfortable to be in. Great start but it needs more work to become a great restaurant.
Views over the water were excellent, very pleasant for dinner. Service could be improved but our waitress was new to this restaurant and could have been more familiar with the menu and wine list, at least she got help to open the wine, which was also excellent. The restaurant was overall somewhat disappointing since it had come highly recommended.
Great variety of food, delicious, fresh, wonderful wait staff beautiful view and very clean. Will certainly be going again.
We had a party of 8, including a 6 yr old, in the area for a family reunion over Memorial Day weekend. I wanted a special night out at a nicer restaurant with a menu that could accommodate vegetarians, a child, a "meat 'n potatoes only" person, and those of us looking for quality local seafood prepared well. Floyd's On The Water was wonderful! A special note of thanks to the wait staff who were excellent. Our waitress was attentive, and the older gentleman who entertained my niece with magic tricks and a balloon animal made her feel like the guest of honor.
First let me say, I rarely complain and am quick to compliment. With that said, we went for crawfish, after we were seated and ordered drinks, we were told "Sorry, no crawfish". I understand this happens but my advice is to tell people that BEFORE you seat them. It was the sole reason we went there and we drove 20 minutes. My advice? Call first if crawfish is the reason you are going. Decided to have gumbo, it was horrid...the rue was like water and all 3 of us who tasted it said it had a bad aftertaste. This could have been a fluke. Sent it back. Kids meal (shrimp) was decent. We ended up just having the mushroom appetizer since they didn't have the crawfish so I can't comment much on the food here. The atmosphere is very nice and the waiter was very kind.
The place was nice but needed to have a better system for the buffet. The lines were long to get to the food and the food was looking old and picked over. Granted our reservation was for 1 pm and the buffet ends at 2 pm. I'll try it again and see how it goes. The waitress was not very attentive. I had to look for her several times.
Extremely long line for brunch. Could only go to buffet one time because the line was so long and didn't want to wait another 20 mins in line to just get a few things. Waitress never came to check on us and my husband had to go get his own tea refill at the servers stand.
My husband & I have had 3 great dinners at floyds so we took my mom for Mother's Day. It was so disappointing! The buffet was laid out horribly. The first few items were desserts... should have either been last or in a separate area. The "omelette bar" was AFTER dessert, fried shrimp, that had gotten rubbery, & other regular menu items. The beef & ham were fatty, tough pieces of meat. If you can't do better, I would rather it not be offered!! The whole food thing is kind of out of balance. BUT, the service was excellent & mimosas perfect. Thank goodness for a great view & very helpful & friendly staff. I will try it again but not for the buffet...unless they try to improve it.
Slow service even before it got crowded. Food was very subpar.
Very dissppointed in service and food on Mother's Day
We always enjoy our visits here. The service & food are always first rate. This visit had a small glitch with Open Table (I got an email saying that our group was a no-show even though we actually arrived slightly early) but, all things considered, it was a pleasant experience as usual.
Great food and good atmosphere. Perfect for pulling the boat up and having a good lunch or dinner.
Waiter forgot to bring us silverware and our food got cold waiting on the utensils. Other than that it was great.
Quite fun, lovery view of a picturesque marina. Service was good, but the restaurant was having a wedding celebration, so the servers were overwhelmed. Food seemed to be an afterthought if you weren't a part of the large party... That was a little something disappointing. Too bad really, this could be a go-to pretty weather dining spot.....
I've eaten here several times (dinner for two on up to very large groups) and I've never had anything but a great experience at Floyd's on the Water. The views of the water are beautiful and the seafood is fresh and delicious. The wait staff are friendly and helpful without intruding. I highly recommend.
Food was good, nice atmosphere, great service
Priced a little too high for the amount of food prepared
A good place to go to instead of driving in to Houston.
We attended for Easter Brunch. The food was delicious and our waiter was very attentive. The bloody mary bar is always fun. The only problem that I encountered was that I originally made reservations for 2 people and when I went back to try to change it to 5 on Open Table it would not modify it. I called the restuarant and left a message to change it but that didn't work either. Luckily, there was not problem when we arrived.
We had a fantastic Easter brunch! There were so many choices at the buffet and they were all so delcious. What a perfect morning!
Made plans to meet an old friend from school days and we were able to sit outside under cover. Enjoyed the food service and the view of the marina. Food was good as always.
