                                                                                  Food was lukewarm and the prime rib was average and very bland. Service was rushed, although we were almost by ourselves at 5 PM. The first course plates were removed almost before we were done. The amount of food, unfortunately, did not make up for the quality. Three of us(out of four) left half of our main course. The worst part, though, was the warning that we only have one hr and 45 minutes from our reservation to finish our meal and leave, which we did anyhow.

                                                                                  I had a reservation for 6pm on Thursday night for 2 which is generally pretty crowded . The place was nearly empty. Here why: Our waiter was new, inexperienced , and had very poor people skills. After the initial introduction we hardly saw him again. We had to request from staff surrounding the table everything . More water, refill on drinks, etc. And now for the clincher. When the bill came it was close to $300 . Five crowns has seen its day, has poor service, the Prime Rib was not that good and its overpriced. Don’t go there!

                                                                                  We had a party of 8, including a toddler and a baby. For appetizers, we ordered a French onion soup, shrimp tempura and Five Crowns salad. Our appetizers were good. For our main dishes, all of us ordered the prime ribs. But they somehow all came out too dry and overcooked. My wife and I split a 23-ounce Henry VIII prime ribs. We also ordered our prime ribs to be medium rare, but they came out a lot closer to medium well if not well done. On top of that, both of our prime ribs were small and thinly cut. I believe mine was only about 8 ounces at most. Our server was Ryan, and he did just an ok job. But his assistant was excellent, very professional and courteous. This was not the first time we dined at Five Crowns. We ate there serval times over the past two years. We were happy with our past experiences, but this one was a big disappointment.

                                                                                  I've been going to The Five Crowns in CDM since 1974! The quality and ambiance has not changed in all that time: excellent! We both had the signature Crown Cut rib roast with Yorkshire pudding. I had the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. My date had the creamed corn and mashed potatoes. All was delicious. My roast beef was perfectly rare, as requested, and my dates was a perfect medium-rare. We did choose to bring our own wine and pay the corkage ( I had a ten-year-old Napa Cabernet Sauvignon set aside for the occasion). The decor is that of an old English inn: lota of dark wood, fireplaces, large comfortable chairs. The waiter was very professional and knowledgeable. Our only disappointment was the early closure hour of 9PM. Since we were the last people there, I guess we were the only ones who desired a late evening mid-week. Come on, people, what's with the senior citizen habits? :-) I highly recommend!
