Best Historic Restaurants in Riverside

We stayed at the Mission Inn for our anniversary weekend, and ate at Duane’s for our anniversary dinner. I had the filet mignon and my husband the New York steak with peppercorn sauce. Both were delicious! I had French Onion soup and my husband the escargot for appetizers. Those were okay. Our waitress Alisa was wonderful and very attentive. My only complaint was that I made the reservation well in advance on Open Table, indicating it was our anniversary, but we got a so-so table in the upper room, and when I asked for one in the lower room, the hostess declined. And nothing said about our anniversary. Overall a very pleasant experience.

The vibe was everything. Vinyl night was really relaxing and had a late night vibe early in the evening. The food was great, the staff was amazing. Our server was so friendly! I really enjoyed talking with her. And the bartenders were top notch. Will be going back again for sure!

Having been locals to the Mission Inn for years, my wife and I decided we finally needed to take a tour and have dinner at Las Campanas (which we have also wanted to try for years). The tour was outstanding. The history behind the Mission Inn is fascinating. Our guide, Patty, was very informative and knowledgeable. After the tour, we had dinner at Las Campanas and were pleasantly surprised. The outdoor seating provided a great atmosphere, despite it being in the low 90s that day. Our server, Sana, could not have been better. He was outstanding. He was attentive yet not overbearing. He was able to make great recommendations. My only disappointment was the menu was much smaller than we expected. For starters we had the elote and shrimp ceviche. For dinner, I had the chile verde and my wife had the birria tacos. The food was good, but not spectacular. Las Campanas is definitely a place to try.
