Best Seasonal Restaurants in New Malden

It would be overall 5* but a charge of £6.95 + 13.5% service charge for a bottle of Water is unacceptable!

We have visited this Ivy Cafe many times in the past but the service on our recent visit was very disappointing. Having ordered drinks as soon as we arrived we had to ask when they were coming - and even then they only arrived when we were more than halfway through our starters. The lesson was obviously not learned as there was a long wait between starters and mains and twice we had to ask for our wine to be brought. The restaurant was very busy and the servers told us several times that they were short of staff… it certainly seemed to us that the operations management had not scheduled enough staff to provide a decent level of service to the many customers.

Food and service were great. It is a gorgeous pub, it would be better if a family section could be made. Kids were running around screaming knocking things at other people's tables. It's not really the staffs place to parent other peoples kids, so maybe containing them to an area would mean others can enjoy the pub as well. We moved on for post lunch drink due to the chaos, in other places we normally laze over another bottle of wine/post dinner coffees etc

Great service from start to finish, really enjoyed our cocktails in the back bar and the 5 course menu was fantastic! Highly recommend!

Friendly welcome, spacious dining room, unobtrusive background music, civilised atmosphere/lack of noise, inventive menu, unhurried service, top quality food and wine. Highly recommended.
