Best Restaurants with a Tasting Menu in Hollywood

I’ve visited République five times, and while the food and ambiance are lovely, the service experience has been deeply mixed. Gracie, our server, is exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. She remembered me and my drink preferences from a previous visit two and a half months ago (on my birthday!) and made me feel incredibly valued. All 5 stars go to her — she’s the reason I’ll return. But unfortunately, I’m giving only 4 stars overall, because of how Sadé, the host, treated me twice — once on my birthday, and again today, June 19. Despite having a reservation, I was left standing both times while multiple groups who arrived later were immediately seated. My questions were met with eye rolls, dismissive replies, and a complete lack of warmth. I felt unwelcome, disrespected, and humiliated in front of my guests. Today, even a simple photo request was met with visible irritation. When I later asked for her name to leave a review, her tone suddenly changed — but good service shouldn’t depend on that. I can’t help but feel I was treated differently because of my accent — like I wasn’t a “regular” and didn’t matter. But every guest deserves equal respect, regardless of nationality or background. I’m writing this because I care. I love this restaurant, I live nearby, and I want to keep coming back — but only Gracie’s kindness made up for how unwelcome I felt at the door.

Welcoming hosts, short delay in getting the table ready but overall dinner service was great as always. Thank you to our server Chance for the warm service and recommendations. Thanks to Jessica & Courtney for serving our bottles, we look forward to our next visit. Thank you chef and Gwen team.

We did the tasting experience paired with the sommelier’s wine pairing. Every dish was exceptional and paired perfectly.
