It originated in Japan through the love that the Japanese had for Italian food but wanted to incorporate some of their cultural flavors and ingredients to them. We at Daikaya Group and chef & owner, Katsuya Fukushima, are bringing this experience to you here in DC.Looking for some fun Japanese antipasti bites, one of a kind pasta dishes, or pizza that you won't find anywhere else in the city? An eclectic menu of hearty, classic bistro dishes crafted with New York flair. Think: A hearty Wagyu French Dip, topped with mozzarella and a creamy horseradish au jus, served on a perfectly crunchy baguette; or the Lobster Frites, made with luxe Maine lobster; the Bolognese Blanc, with freshly made rigatoni in a luscious white wine sauce, topped with wagyu beef ragu and parmigiano reggiano; or the innovative Caesar Salad with Fried Cream Cheese Croutons, which takes a classic Caesar and modernizes it with the flavors of that New York staple – the everything bagel. The star here, however, is the over-the-top Angie Chop Martini, a thinly pounded, breaded pork chop redolent of butter, lemon and red wine vinegar, topped with hot peppers and parmigiano reggiano imported from Italy.

Very pleasant experience at SHIA. The 5-course tasting menu is very satisfying. Even with familiar tasting profiles, each dishes is unique and doesn’t resemble anything I had before (especially the main course). Staff are all very helpful and patient with questions. The menu is changing seasonally so I’m excited to come back and experience new menu next time!

The Continent D.C. did not disappoint! As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. All of the staff was very nice, accommodating and they checked in to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. The mocktails were tasty, the oyster appetizer as well and the snapper platter was filling and tasty for two. I appreciated the various dipping sauces and that they had options that weren't spicy for the tame of tongue. The ambiance was gorgeous and I liked all the decor touches, art and color choices. We were greeted by two managers and appreciate their attention. Highly recommend! Also for special events as they have the space!
