Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. This place is very fun and has a great vibe. My only issue with the size of the portions. Very, very small for the price. I think my halibut was maybe 2 ounces.

We went on a Tuesday evening so it wasn’t busy at all. We’re in our 70’s, but young at heart, however the music was very loud. Cocktails were excellent, but VERY EXPENSIVE, even by San Francisco standards; and the appetizers were very small and expensive as well. Probably too trendy and expensive to try again.
