The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes. We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch.     The Anchor is an amazing place to eat and drink we love it there and lucky enough it is also our local the food is 5 star along with the service and drink try the Guiness its just the best ive had anywhere Lou James and all the staff are lovely very friendly if you want a go to pub do it you will not be disappointed Ray and Debbie Sartin

    My husband and I visited for Sunday lunch and had a wonderful time. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and polite and the food was wonderful. The bread was particularly outstanding. Wickford high street needs more places like this and whilst it was quiet I hope on Fridays and Saturdays when they have a DJ it’s much more lively! We will 100% be back as not only is the decor and setting lovely, the food was incredible value for money.

    It is a nice restaurant with a view of Southend airport which currently is very quite (the airport) The staff were very helpful and friendly which was great, the food was good and even with the starter of my partner being slightly over cooked, they removed it from the bill and thanked us for our genuine feedback. Overall i would return to the restaurant and could recommend it.
