It's pricy, but you're paying for the views as well as the very good food. We dined indoors as the outdoor part was taken over by a private party, and enjoyed a beets and herb salad, the smoked duck entree and the striped bass entree. and the fresh fruit pannacotta (which we would have enjoyed more if it wasn't tiny and priced at $18). There's another eatery called the Torpedo Bar and Lounge on the other side of the resort which faces the bridge and bay on the other side, is more casual, and slightly less expensive. 1639 seems to just be getting geared up, as it was only open Friday and Saturday when we were there. The renovation of the hotel has resulted in fun updated entertainment spaces.More info1639Price: Expensive• Contemporary American• Newport•4.3

- MMarylúBarcelona •2 reviews4.0Dined 5 days agoHostess service was excellent. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived. Once at the table, it took 15 minutes for the waitress to stop at the table. She ran by once to tell me she will take out drink order, but she said this as she was rushing to the next room. After she took our order, and we got our food, she would stop by but always rushing. I guess she had too many tables. Other than this, the food was really good and the prices matched the quality of the food.More infoBrick Alley Pub and RestaurantPrice: Moderate• American• Newport•4.7
- EElisabethVIPRhode Island •31 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoExcellent dinner at JBs for all four of us - drinks exactly as described with great flavors and intensity. Poke bowl delish with fresh tuna and quinoa (keeps it a light dish) and seaweed salad and spicy sauce. Perfectly fresh but filling. Tuna tacos always filled to the edge with fish and salsa. Fish of the day cooked perfectly over coconut rice. Lobster roll over flowing with lobster meat. Roll perfectly warmed. Excellent meal overall. Highly recommend and will go again. Ask for Beth as your server! Very helpful but not overbearing.More infoJB's on the WaterPrice: Moderate• American• Jamestown•4.5
- KKaylaGreater Boston •1 review4.0Dined on Jun 7, 2025The food here was delicious! We were a bit disappointed that they were not able to accommodate a group of 5 to sit by the window despite the fact the restaurant was basically empty. Most of the tables by the window were for 2. They could have easily pulled up another table. Instead we were seated in a semi circle type booth which isn't ideal for a fancy dressed up dinner and having to scooch in and be stuck unless you're on the end. The food was amazing so I will be going back but the service throughout the night was subpar at best.More infoMainSailPrice: Moderate• Contemporary American• Newport•4.1
