Best Casual Restaurants in San Marcos

I recently dined at Nick's on State Street, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience! The food was absolutely excellent, and every bite was a delight. What truly stood out, though, was the incredible service. From the busboy to the manager, the staff made us feel like VIPs! We were greeted by name and treated with such warmth and care—it truly made our visit special. They went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. And I can't forget to mention the butter cake—it was simply over the top! It’s no wonder that this has become my running group’s favorite spot to celebrate birthdays. If you're looking for a fantastic meal and top-notch service, Nick's is the place to be!

We love the outdoor dining at Stone. The trees make it so beautiful. There were intermittent whiffs of an unpleasant seaweed-like smell coming from the water feature down the hill, but we still enjoyed sitting outdoors. The Ahi Tuna Melt was a 4.5/5. The cheese could have been melted more to make it a 5. We both tried custom beer flights— a good value and fun! I look forward to returning to this creative venue.

Always love their menu - many options to select from - and they are one of few local Italian places with an outstanding Italian white wine selection. We had a delightful dinner and will return
