Best Casual Restaurants in Honolulu

Wonderful dinner and great menu referrals by the waiter….the hidden gem was the fried eggplant with yogurt sauce underneath….i could have had that as a meal! The fish was perfectly cooked and delicious….The Hau Tree ambience is the best in Waikiki!

Merriman is the consummate restaurateur. His approach to food, service, and dining environment has remained remarkably focused on his customers. We have experienced this since dining at his original Big Island location over thirty years ago. We have dined there and at his additional restaurants now many times since. It is impressive to me that his Monkeypod at Waikiki restaurant has all of the features of his original, albeit in a much larger venue. Here we had creative dishes like poke tacos, and long established like Mahi Mahi macadamia nut crusted. They were all outstanding and served with care. Remarkable in such a high volume setting. We always look forward to dining at his restaurants and feel fortunate to do so when visiting these lovely islands

Had the 5 course dinner with wine pairing, best dining experience we had in a long time.

We ordered the Dinner Special and the Katsu Gozen. Both were very good. Both approximately cost approx. $40 which we felt were a great value for the quality and quantity of food included.

Went on New Year’s Day for lunch. They were behind on setting the tables. After waiting a little while - once we were seated, the service and food were very good.
