Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. An eclectic menu of hearty, classic bistro dishes crafted with New York flair. Think: A hearty Wagyu French Dip, topped with mozzarella and a creamy horseradish au jus, served on a perfectly crunchy baguette; or the Lobster Frites, made with luxe Maine lobster; the Bolognese Blanc, with freshly made rigatoni in a luscious white wine sauce, topped with wagyu beef ragu and parmigiano reggiano; or the innovative Caesar Salad with Fried Cream Cheese Croutons, which takes a classic Caesar and modernizes it with the flavors of that New York staple – the everything bagel. The star here, however, is the over-the-top Angie Chop Martini, a thinly pounded, breaded pork chop redolent of butter, lemon and red wine vinegar, topped with hot peppers and parmigiano reggiano imported from Italy.

Would like to give more stars to this Washington, D.C. institution. Let's start with the positives: Reservation was honored quickly. As promised, perhaps the best view in town. Solid service with attentive follow up. Uh, room for improvement? Drink prices on the high side. $19 for the "Swamp Cooler"? I get it, overhead has to be paid. Food - like the Calamari Shrimp appetizer was overcooked. Calamari should retain some juiciness, not reduced to a cardboard-like consistency. If you have people from out of town - impressive! I live in town and won't likely hurry back.

Loved this place. We Got the chicken which came with mashed potatoes, baby vegetables, and some sort of puree that was delicious. We also got the steak tartare as an app and filet mignon, loved the sauce that came over the mashed potatoes!

Friday high tea was perfection. Service was 10/10. The chef not only accommodated at the last minute gluten-free request but made my daughter’s celebration for finishing the 1st grade so special.
