Fearrington House Restaurant
From partnerships with local farms, including Duckwood Farms and Heritage Farms, to vegetables and herbs harvested from gardens on the property, to dishes that celebrate North Carolina’s four distinct seasons, The Fearrington House’s mission to provide Relais & Chateaux level cuisine and service to guests has remained constant since opening in 1980.
Our menu is complemented by a beverage program featuring an extensive wine list, a fully-equipped bar, cocktails with local ingredients, and beers celebrating North Carolina breweries. The wine and liquor program are overseen by Beverage Director Paula de Pano.

Everything was perfect!
Fearrington House offers a cleanly classical, uncrowded setting; a warm greeting; quiet, attentive service; enjoyable amuse-bouches; fair but uninteresting wine by the glass; and food which, on the Wednesday night when we were there, fell well short of the standards we had come to expect in the Relais et Chateaux in France. It know that it is fashionable to serve duck rare, but mine was too rare even though I requested medium. I just don't think that you can actually taste duck served rare, and it seems rather savage. The desserts were more interesting, mine a fine combination of dark chocolate syrup in a well of light chocolate mousse. On the whole, however, I don't really understand how Fearrington House keeps its Michelin rating.
Entree of lobster was a tad over cooked but overall wonderful experience
My significant other says it's the best meal she has ever eaten! I would say that it's one of my top 2, running neck-and-neck with the other meal I had at Fearrington House 10-12 years ago!
The Fearrington House restaurant is a cozy, inviting space with several smaller rooms in which to dine. The service is attentive and efficient. For the price, the food was a notch below excellent. The choice of breads and the butter were outstanding. The tuna was lacking in taste and one piece was somewhat membranous. The salmon was very good, but again, not outstanding. The presentation of the courses was nice and the additional between-course offerings were charming. It was a lovely evening and everything was very good, but we were expecting outstanding, and it was not.
For a night before Valentine’s Day we kept getting missed. They certainly had enough staff but whoever was assigned to our table had to be called or signaled. There was about 20 minutes between cocktail menu and server returning. Then I do believe it was the head waiter who finally showed up. Bread?? We had to ask for an additional serving. I can’t even imagine going there on a holiday!
Amazing setting, very cozy and intimate place to celebrate any occasion.
Fearrington House continues to be a superb dining experience. We recently ate at a three-star Michelin restaurant in NYC and feel that the food at Fearrington is its equal. Our service was exceptional as well - attentive but unobtrusive. Wonderful!!
Wonderful food. Great wine pairings. Exceptional job.
Best food and service since I left NY and the CIA restaurants.
Just wonderful. Each course was perfection. I couldn’t finish the chocolate soufflé though. Pity!
An amazing dinner experience. Food that is delicious and beautifully plated aimed at foodies/gourmets.
Looking for that special unique dining experience this is that place. Plan on 3 plus hours to fully enjoy the experience of not the food but the flavors of the chef’s palate. Wonderful
Absolutely memorable. A culinary delight--great food and wine accompanied with education on the dinner selections. Lots of pleasant surprises during the meal and a wonderful take away package at the end. Our server could not have been better. A true 5 diamond experience.
Always a great experience dining at Fearrington house!
Amazing tasting menu! Come hungry, it’s a lot of food. Wife and I loved it, made her Birthday very special.
Everything was excellent. We are going to make this a yearly tradition!
The staff was very helpful when I needed some last minute "adjustments" to the reservation. The wait staff and wine sommelier were timely, unobtrusive, and impressive. The New Year's dinner was unbelievable...outstanding choices, beautifully prepared, served gracefully, and incredibly delicious. Simple words cannot convey the beauty and elegance and wonderfulness of the meal. No better way in the world to welcome in the New Year.
For me, this is the best restaurant in the area. We go three or four times a year and the food is always excellent and the service highly professional which is not a given in this part of the world. Also the restaurant continues to have a terrific and probably improving wine list. Not inexpensive but worth it.
Exquisite service every step of the way.
We have eaten at Fearrington House many times, as we live nearby. This visit was disappointing. We had the 3 course dinner with wine pairings, and there seemed to be a disconnect between the serving staff and the kitchen. My wife's duck entree arrived nearly raw, and after it was sent back, was returned to the table in the same state - but with cold vegetables. Sometimes the wine would arrive well before the course, sometimes well after.
The chocolate mousse was, as always, the highlight of the meal!
A very elegant and quiet dining experience, even though the room filled up over the evenng. Many amuse bouche snacks and 3 courses with a good number of selections for each course. The wine list is gigantic, one of the best in our area and one of the reasons I go to Fearrington. Make sure to try their classic chocolate dessert. The service was great across the board, especially the wine service since we kept the sommelier busy with our Burgundy choices. Always a treat.
Amazing and perfect as always. Hands down best in NC
This is a VERY special occasion restaurant. It is extremely expensive; however, it made for an extraordinary Christmas Day. My husband said it was his “best meal ever.” Personally, I felt my meal was very good, but I would not go as far as my husband. I do wish we had been seated in the main dining room as we ended upstairs by ourselves.
It is wonderful to have a place where you feel as though you ought to dress up. The bar is excellent. I loved my Old Fashioned. Food is served in courses, so if you’re in a hurry ... try Burger King!🤪 I love seeing the striped cows, and I love the little touches of fine detail ... I think I could have dined on the bread and butter and been happy.
Great!! As always
Always the best for fine dining. I wish I could give 5 plus stars.
We had read many positive comments about Fearrington House, so chose it for a special dinner with friends. We found the restaurant to be highly over-rated. The food was okay, but not for the price. The duck was over-cooked and hard to cut, let alone chew. While the wait staff was very attentive, overall we were disappointed and would not return. Most surprising for the holiday season, the decorations in the room where we were seated were non-existent and the atmosphere was not inviting.
We were underwhelmed by the service and food compared to past years. We were seated at our table and placed an order for drinks which took far too long to get. The waiter came at least twice for our dinner order before the cocktails even arrived. The first course of soup and braised pork were outstanding, however the main courses were just okay. The New York strip was dry, the Monk fish dish was fine but the squash side was bland.
In the past, the waiters have been outstanding, this time they seemed quite inexperienced.
Absolutely amazing restaurant - one of the best in the triangle. Had the Chef's Tasting and Vegetarian Tasting with wine pairing, both were absolutely spectacular. The wine pairing were extremely intelligent and the sommeliers were able to answer all of our questions with ease. While expensive, I personally believe that the quality of the food, wine, and service warrant such a price tag. The dining room is quiet and is ideal for a special occasion. The staff were courteous and attentive. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates fine dining.
Wasn’t the usual experience for this establishment. Food was mediocre, wine pairings terrible, service subpar. And there wasn’t one piece of decor tailored for the holiday season.
I would not recommend this restaurant. The emphasis was on the appearance and presentation of the food (and restaurant, which is admittedly lovely), but the taste was unappealing at its best. The meat my spouse and I both had (one pork, one beef) had a terrible texture and was almost inedible. Even worse, they make a big show of asking you in advance about any food allergies (they called the week before to ask about food allergies) and then confirmed them when we sat down, but then handed me a menu without pointing out what options were safe— and then when I asked specifically the server indicated only one menu item that contained the allergen (gluten, in my case) so I assumed the others were safe. But then they served me a soup that had cake in the middle of it, which I couldn’t tell right away, so was sick all night after eating here. They also served gluten-free bread on the same plate as other bread, touching it. I am upset that they make a show of asking about allergies and implying they can accommodate them, only to completely disregard your safety with the actual food. It’s a pretentious place with mediocre food and disregard of customer safety.
Absolutely perfect in every way! Food was delicious, atmosphere was delightful and service was excellent. Another memorable experience at Fearrington House!
The dining experience was totally exception and compared favorably, if not better, with one we recently had at a three star Michelin restaurant in New York.
Chef’s menu was fantastic. Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. Expensive but worth it for special occasions.
We were disappointed to find the lobster under-cooked and the wine pairing choices very so-so for the price.
We had a great experience. Both the service and food were excellent.
It was wonderful. Great food and the service was great.
Excellent food service and staff
Excellent service, amazing presentation, superb quality and terrific bartender Watson!
