From partnerships with local farms, including Harland's Creek Farm in Pittsboro and Lil Farm in Timberlake, to herbs harvested from gardens on the property, to dishes that celebrate North Carolina’s seasons, The Fearrington House’s mission to provide Relais & Chateaux level cuisine and service to guests has remained constant since opening in 1980.

Our menu is complemented by a beverage program featuring an extensive wine list, a full cocktail bar, and beers celebrating North Carolina breweries.

    Last time we dined here was 20 yrs.ago. Came to celebrate a birthday. Everything was simply outstanding. Food quality, presentation, service and ambiance was top notch. Certainly will not wait another 20 yrs. to come back.

    The woman at the front desk who I assume was the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. The food and drinks were exceptional however our experience when checking in to having to listen to the manger boss the bartender in front of guests ruined our experience. We will most likely not return.

    Bottom line: One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in years and on par with the best ever - here in the US or in France or Italy. Every course was superb and the service was top shelf. Expensive but well worth it. Thank you

    Beautiful setting. The food was excellent and well presented. Service left something to be desired. I would normally give this service a 4 star if it was a moderate restaurant, but for this sort of restaurant, it was not what I woukd expect. A 5 ounce wine pour was about 3 oz for me but my male dining partner received a much larger pour (different server). I had to ask for an adequate pour. Same thing with champagne pours when we saw other table get more generous pour. I have not ever encountered this before, especially at such a nice restaurant.

    From start to finish this was an exceptional dining experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the service world class and the food inventive and exquisite. They left no stone unturned and it was a memorable way to celebrate our anniversary. We will be back!

    The Fearrington is a unique dining experience that must be experienced. The food and service are impeccable; the ambience is somewhat tarnished by the lack of acoustic deadening on the hard walls and ceiling, leading to more noise than desirable. A small criticism is the extremely uncomfortable chairs in the bar and dining areas: the seat cushions are supported by a central wooden bar from the front to back of each chair. This makes an otherwise enjoyable 2-plus hour dining experience uncomfortable.....

    The atmosphere is elegant, the service is poised and responsive. However, the food is more show than substance. Compared to Michelin star restaurants or prix fixe luxury restaurants with similar prices ($150) in major cities, the quality of the cuisine is mediocre. The end of meal sweets (brought after the desserts) are meager and reflect poorly on the atmosphere and the dining experience. They need to change their head chef and get their act together. It was much better 5 years ago. We have been patrons for 30 years.

    Fearrington House was a wonderful dining experience for us. We celebrated a wedding anniversary with them. The four-course meal was exceptional, the service top-notch, and the little details were an added touch (a special menu prepared for us, congratulating us on our Anniversary, the small gift box of hand painted chocolates when we departed). This is not a spur of the moment kind of dining out destination, but if you are seeking a quaint location to spend a special evening with someone, Fearrington House should definitely be on your short list. We will return for future special occasions.

    One has to wonder why Fearrington House has not earned a Michelin star. The restaurant is quite deserving and the cuisine is on-par with 1-2 star restaurants we have dined at in Europe.

    Open Table did not make it clear that it was a set price of $150 per person. The dinner cost over $350 with tip and we didnt order wine. It would be better for Open Table to warn people of this type of restriction especially since a credit card was required to make the reservation. We might have been OK with the big price tag if the food had been more to our taste. The air felt musty and even though it is a lovely setting, the place seemed almost empty on a Saturday night. We wanted a special place but it felt like a very expensive place and not that special. We really enjoyed some of the food but my steak was just OK. I felt taken advantage of. Maybe I could have investigated more but I just clicked on the Open Table link and booked a table for 7:30. There was no mention of a $150 / per person requirement.

    Food was great, the best I’ve ever had at Fearrington. The spring pea soup was perfect, with all of the textures, tastes and temperatures that really make a dish amazing. I also really enjoyed the scallops. The asparagus was huge and cooked perfectly, but I found the flavor a little lacking. The chocolate soufflé I had for dessert was a great ending. The service was attentive, however more than just a little awkward. Many verbal flourishes that I think are not only unnecessary but downright uncomfortable. It could just be “us” since we usually dine much more casually. One other thing…We sat in the corner of the dining room and there was a vent right under the table which was freezing. i covered it with my purse but the restaurant should cover that if it’s going to be under someone’s feet. It doesn’t circulate anywhere except under the table.

    When we lived in Chapel Hill, we came to Fearrington House regularly and it was a delight. It is an incredibly beautiful setting with gracious staff and expertly prepared food. After we moved to New York, then returned for a visit five years ago, we found that it still held up to some of the finest dining experiences in the city. Sadly, our return a couple of days ago fell far short both our expectations our past experience. Flavor components of dishes simply did not mesh. The breads offered were lackluster. The chocolate soufflé is just as fabulous as ever, but the Pavlova was oddly presented and tasted odd, for lack of a better word. Overall, the meal showed few of the exquisite flavors we have come to expect at Fearrington House.

    Brian was our main servers and he was absolutely amazing! All the staff was friendly, accommodating and professional as well! The food was outstanding and it was delicious to say the least. The best dining experience of my life! Thank you for your hospitality and making my husband’s Father’s Day so special!

    Ambiance and service were unsurpassed. Food was very good except one in our party was disappointed in seared lamb main coarse; searing gave the loin an unpleasing texture. Expected dinner to be pricey; however, price of wine pairings (which we did not utilize) was over the top. All in all, dining at Fearington House was a memorable experience for our anniversary. Gifts and personalized menu added to the occasion.

    Compared to prior visits there were more young servers who appeared to be recent hires. But still very nice service. The food is always much more elaborate than what you would make for yourself at home but still tastes great. This is my criteria for an expensive restaurant being worth the money. I did think that the wine pairing was overpriced.

    Ambience and service was wonderful but the food was lacking. We’ve eaten at several comparably rated establishments, and this was certainly the most disappointing for the price range. Sometimes trying to be wildly creative can miss the mark, as it did with a chicken roulade dish that was an odd color and texture. Other dishes were somewhat better, but this one set a tone from which the meal could not recover.
