   Ambiance and service were unsurpassed. Food was very good except one in our party was disappointed in seared lamb main coarse; searing gave the loin an unpleasing texture. Expected dinner to be pricey; however, price of wine pairings (which we did not utilize) was over the top. All in all, dining at Fearington House was a memorable experience for our anniversary. Gifts and personalized menu added to the occasion.

   Compared to prior visits there were more young servers who appeared to be recent hires. But still very nice service. The food is always much more elaborate than what you would make for yourself at home but still tastes great. This is my criteria for an expensive restaurant being worth the money. I did think that the wine pairing was overpriced.

   The food and service was amazing. The ambiance fantastic. The only thing I felt was a bit overpriced was the wine pairing. Is was nice learning about and tasting the wines, but next time we would just buy a bottle.

   Ambience and service was wonderful but the food was lacking. We’ve eaten at several comparably rated establishments, and this was certainly the most disappointing for the price range. Sometimes trying to be wildly creative can miss the mark, as it did with a chicken roulade dish that was an odd color and texture. Other dishes were somewhat better, but this one set a tone from which the meal could not recover.

    Really enjoyed the grounds and the bar. Found the restaurant service was good but the food was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth anywhere near the price. And I have no objection to a pricey menu. This was simply not that good.

    It was an experience to remember. Love the atmosphere, scenery and the staff was amazing. The food was outstanding. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to a romantic evening out.

    Been coming here for special occasions since 2007. So, we are a bit spoiled, and remember the good old days when you could choose from a variety of three-course, four-course and pairing menus for dinner, all at appropriate price points. Now it's one four course prix frie and you have to get the assigned courses, no opting out of dessert for example. We split a wine pairing and will not order that again, as the wines were obscure and uninspiring. I get that costs have gone up but it seems that cutting corners has a high priority at Fearrington now. On the positive side, the service was the best since the COVID shutdown, the only letdown was being forgotten toward the end and having to wait too long to get the check. But several courses - the poached shrimp and duck - were memorable. Still a go-to for special occasions, just not as special as it used to be.

    An enjoyable dinner with a very friendly staff. My wife did the wine pairing, and she enjoyed the personable and professional sommelier. Our waiter, Todd, was excellent. They had to substitute the fish from what was on menu - it turned out incredible. It was one of my favorite fish dishes I’ve had in recent memory.

    Todd was wonderful! As was the menu and the ambiance for our 2nd wedding anniversary. We’ll worth the drive from Durham to dine at such a beautiful property on an amazing spring evening in the patio garden.

    This is a prix fix menu, so make sure it meets your dietary requirements before going. The waiter picked up on an ingredient in one of the dishes we had stated we don’t eat, and a modification was gracefully made. The food is amazing, presentation excellent. Complex flavors creatively combined. The prices are high (came to $500 for two with 2 glasses of wine each), but you know this going in, so not a surprise. A great special occasion place!

    We had a lovely family Easter dinner at The Fearrington! Beautiful grounds & property! It was a real treat. We are not huge eater’s & don’t do many course dinners. It was expensive & a lot of food but we all enjoyed the culinary journey! Beautiful special occasion venue!

    A celebration dinner for my son’s 26th birthday! A beautiful dining experience from beginning to end. Food and wine presentations were lovely. Can’t pick a favorite dinner part because they all played their perfect role as the chef clearly intended.

    It’s always an amazing experience dining here, especially the chocolate soufflé dessert. The wait staff is second to none and always professional. I gave the food 4 stars because the wasabi on the shrimp was a serious shock to my brain, sinuses, and eyes. I’m fairly certain tears came to my eyes.
