Bloomington is blessed with many great restaurants and this is one. The atmosphere is boho chic and the food is down home done upscale. The menu has something for everyone; vegetarians to carnivores, spice junkies to those who prefer the milder side of life.
Farm promotes its vegan options, but in reality those are quite limited, unimaginative and no better than you’d find at any other restaurant. It is quite disappointing given all the hype. On the night I went, there was a vegan salad, which is hardly a stretch, and something you can find anywhere and spaghetti with vegan meatballs. I would not recommend Farm’s paltry, uninspired and overpriced options to other vegans.
Food was sub-par since they were on a weekend limited menu for speed sake. Had a reservation and put back in the cold, loud, white room in the back. Won’t be back.
I love Farm and have eaten there on several occasions. Typically food and service is excellent. However, this visit was the exception as our service was horrible. Our waiter asked about drinks once and never asked again. Our food took over 70 minutes to get to the table after ordering. When we asked why the delay, we were awkwardly told it was because someone in our party ordered a bison burger and those take longer. I was like “are you kidding me?” It’s a hamburger! The waiter must have know we were upset because he sent the manager over with an apology. My guess is that they lost our order. The manager did offer the table desserts which we accepted (those too took way too long to get to the table as well and most were just slices of cake!). All in all, won’t keep me from going back there but the fact the server never even came back to the table to apologize for any delays until we pressed him on it is inexcusable.
We brought our daughter who is a student at IU, in to celebrate her birthday. It was a charming atmosphere and we had top notch service from Jonathan. He was engaging and very personable. The beverages, charcuterie, baguette and strawberry gelato were all fabulous, as was my husband's burger. The pizza and chicken entrees were just average but still a great evening and we'd come again!
Excellent, friendly service. Our waitress was very good at discussing food and drink options. The atmosphere is very quaint and cozy.
The concierge at our hotel recommended this restaurant and it was awesome! Great food, fun ambiance and phenomenal service. Never have I been asked after a meal if we would like our check or if we just wanted to hang out and enjoy some more coffee in the company of our family. We will come back again next time we are in the area!
Excellent breakfast (Indiana Benedict and egg dish with roast tomato, etc., and prompt, attentive service. Will definitely return.
Food very good - and very manageable menu size. Brown liquor selection excellent (pricey, but competitive). Took a while for service to begin after getting seated, but once it started it was great. Definitely recommend.
FARMbloomington was the perfect place for a dinner date. It is on the more expensive side ($16 to $30 a plate), but I never felt like the price was too much for the quality of the food, drink, and service, which meant that I could feel good about having a fun experience for a special occasion or just a treat. My partner and I shared a baguette starter, which came with both an herb olive oil and herb butter. Both were very good. Then, we each ordered entrees, getting the bison burger with potatoes and beet risotto with chicken breast. My partner was surprised and a little disappointed that his potatoes were a cold dish (more like a potato salad with a lemony vinaigrette), but everything was delicious. I might suggest that this be advertised more clearly on the menu, but have no actual complaints here. Both my partner and I have multiple food allergies and there was no issue.
There is an extensive drink menu, with specialty cocktails that seem to change, which would be great for repeat customers. They also have a selection of virgin cocktails that could be fun options for anyone who wishes to have the experience of a fancy drink without the alcohol. I ordered a sazerac and was extremely satisfied with the quality.
I look forward to the next time I have the cash to spend here. It elevated a night out and was an overall great experience.
Simply wonderful! The bean soup was fabulous. We are looking to have our wedding rehearsal dinner here!
Our server was amazing (forgot her name!). She didn’t rush us at all, kept checking on us and went above and beyond. Food was great as usual!
Truly "farm fresh", locally sourced food, prepared well and served with warmth and professionalism.
Great local spot, fresh food, nice atmosphere, good service. Will be back next visit.
The food was well prepared and, while not unique, also not run of the mill. Service was better than average. Menu was too - not overwhelming and all well prepared as d3scribed. Pricing was fair.
Had the vegan spaghetti! Loved it soooo much! Service was great. Always love my visits ti FARM
Our appetizer and entrees were excellent. Huge drink menu. A little pricy, but the value is there.
I really want to like and support this place, but they make it so hard. We arrived on time for our reservation for two people, but they seated us at a table for four and then reported us to OpenTable as a no show. We even told them they made a mistake while we were there, but apparently they didn't care.
We ordered an appetizer and entrees. Appetizer was a salmon mousse. When we asked if it came with bread or crackers the waiter said he would get us something. We only found out at the end of the meal that our baguette was an extra $3. Who serves Salmon mousse without bread or crackers included??
Waiter dropped off the appetizer in a timely manner, but then proceeded to tell us our entrees would be coming out immediately. When we said we needed some time to eat the appetizer he was dropping off, he said he'd try to put our entrees under a heat lamp. When the entrees arrived they clearly had been under a heat lamp...gooey, partially warm but not hot. Pretty disappointing.
Food isn't bad, but front of the house needs some serious management attention, especially at $40 a head for appetizer and entree.
Farm Bloomington is a true dining experience. We have dined there on many occasions and have never had a bad experience. Despite the crowds there,we are always seated in a timely manner. Service is none less than superb..Highly encourage putting it on your list of places to eat in Bloomingon, IN.
Service was good. Kitchen was slow. We were fortunate to have a circular booth which helped insulate us from the noise. Food was delicious!
The kitchen was really slow. Our waitress was so nice and because it took so long they discounted the bill. Except for the wait it was an great meal, the staff is amazingly nice, and the food was soooo good.
Wonderful food and service during a very busy time. Will be back for sure!
Farm is an excellent choice in terms of atmosphere, food, and style. It is a lively place that attracts a mixed crowd. The service has never been excellent but it has improved. What is lacking is a good wine list. The choices are not excellent and the prices are too high for most of them. I think that is a pity because the food would deserve better wines and I would return more often of the wine list offered more reliable choices for a lower price. Chose a cocktail or beer of you can unless price does not matter and you are happy to pay 80+ dollars per bottle.
My favorite restaurant in Bloomington. The menu is always changing so there is always a new yummy surprise. The cocktails are also elevated and delicious. My go to for visiting my college student!!
We just loved it! Highly recommend!
My recommendation for going to Farm would be based on previous visits. This time was an overall disappointment. We weren't seated for our 7 pm reservation until ~ 7:20. We were told we couldn't wait at the bar because it was 'closed'. My partner enjoyed her chicken dish. My duck breast and duck fat roasted potatoes arrived looking like they had been plated loooong before arriving at our table, confirmed by the fact that they were cool, not hot, not even warm. In fact the potatoes were beginning to take on the glazed look food gets when the fat starts to congeal. Not a good look.
Not sure what was up that night but overall, a let down.
Love the ambience, which is warm like eating in the dining room of a friend's home. The noise level of the entire restaurant is minimal so it makes it easy to have good conversations at your own table. The garlic fries appetizer were a big hit with everyone in our party.
This was the first negative experience with Farm. There 5:30pm.Waited hour for food, gave us awful garlic fries (like cardboard & hard) but replaced them to their credit. My main entree, by time received, was room temperature & clear it was sitting around. Just wasnt a good evening.
Still like Farm & bar is great.
Not for Valentines Day. They crammed way too many tables in the dining area and my husband got ran into literally every 5 seconds. We had to get our dessert to go and didnt stay and drink because it was so uncomfortable. we will never go back for valentines day .
We love the variety offered at Farm and the fresh ingredients. It doesn't matter what you order, it's always delicious!!
The restaurant always has friendly staff, a unique environment with cool decor and the food is always surprising with neat touches making it extra delicious!
From the service to the food everything was perfect!
the beet risotto was on the dinner menu on the app but wasnt on the menu
Finally got to experience brunch at my fav Bloomington restaurant. There seemed to be more savory options than sweet, but the sticky bun was to die for. Thanks for the fresh fruit to go with. Everyone loved the fresh biscuits and jam. Scrambled eggs were unusually done this time. Live the specialty lattes. Gabriel could have been a spot faster with his service and attention. Minus one star for this reason only.
Always great food and great atmosphere. It’s a Bloomington staple
To be fair we visited here the night of the IU Purdue game and the one that Bob Knight returned to so the place was jam packed. They all seemed a bit overwhelmed by it all. It seemed as though the food was rushed out as our first bread that came with the fondue was really stale. Next batch out was very good though. I'd like to give this joint another try when it isn't so crazy as I've heard nothing but good things from friends of mine.
Dinner before theatre
Food was excellent, the menu for the weekend brunch was a little disappointing overall because everything had a Mexican flair that day. That being said, the food was delicious.
