Cardinal Spirits Distillery and Restaurant
This restaurant was fun! Food was delicious and the waiter was attentive. The manager stopped by our table and was also friendly. Try the sticky bun! It's delicious!!
Place was recommended by a friend. We were placed at a pretty cramp spot right next to a service station despite me letting them know in advance that this was a special occasion. Wine we wanted was out and an alternative was offered with little regard. Food was average at best, dry and heated over a broiler. Seemed more interested moving bodies in and out versus wanting their patrons to enjoy their venue. Wishing it was better, really do. Unfortunately just really, “average” at best.
Our waiter was terrible! It took 45 minutes to get our drinks and then he only brought my husband's beer, forgot all about my glass of wine. We waited a long time for our food and then the appetizer and dinner salads were brought at the same time. Then our main dish was brought before we had finished our salads. We had to ask multiple times to get a second drink, finally another waiter helped out. Then our waiter brought us someone else's drinks. Finally our waiter gave us someone else's bill and credit card to sign. I think this guy was seriously out to lunch, pardon the pun.
The fish taco was excellent. Fresh, cooked just right, not overdone as is usually the case. Enjoyed meal very much.
We have heard good things about Farm and wanted to try it out. Maybe we just hit an off day, but our food wasn't great. My broccoli cheddar soup had a grainy texture, and the biscuits in my husband's meal were very hard and dry. On a good note, our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, and the ambiance was neat.
Loved everything about Farm. Service perfect. Brunch unusual and extraordinary. So friendly and perfect for a return to my alma mater. And we had a perfect view of the World Cup!
We went for brunch and it was FANTASTIC as always. The food is consistently delicious and fresh farm to table fair.
Wonderful restaurant. Definitely one our favorite family stops when we visit our daughter at IU.
Let me start by saying, we like FARM. Our son is an incoming Freshman at Kelley so we try to visit FARM every time we come to Bloomington to visit campus and every time, it's been great. We live outside of NYC and are frankly accustomed to great food. We're spoiled when it comes to restaurants. That said, we've been pleased with restaurants like FARM during our Bloomington visits.
This last visit however was bad. I ordered the Bison Burger (cooked medium) and it arrived raw. The waiter (obviously not his fault) was gracious and took my plate back to the kitchen. Rather than giving a new plate, they simply microwaved by burger and returned with an overcooked hockey puck.
My wife order a pizza which arrived tasteless and mushy in the center... but burnt along the edges of the crust.
This was not a great dinning experience... but we'll give it another try on a future visit. Hopefully this visit can be chalked up to a bad day in the kitchen.
I dined here with a large group of 18-20 relatives for a farewell brunch after family reunion. We had a back room area to ourselves and we had great service from our main waiter as well as all the others that helped to deliver our food on a timely basis. This restaurant has a delightful menu of interesting options made with fresh, local ingredients. Their homemade biscuits are awesome! You can also just ask for the basics, if you don’t see what you want on the menus.
This is a delightful restaurant, light and bright, with lots of tasty menu options and pleasant staff. I was here for brunch. I enjoyed it so much I came back the next day!
We will return!! The fools was delicious!! However - if you are thinking that farm-to-table translates into allergy/paleo/Whole30 friendly - this is not really your place. They will do their best to accommodate - very friendly and gracefully - but there is no allergy friendly menu or selections. Every once in awhile we will “take the hit” with our food sensitivities and splurge a little. The menu was so enticing that we will definitely return when we can experience it more fully!
Farm to table delicious. Very flavorful mix of spices snd ingredients. A nice dinner out with the family. We loved the fresh seasonal options and interesting , fun drinks, too.
We always enjoy our meal at Farm Bloomington....we love to introduce our friends to Farm to Table dining!
Food was good. Fresh and tasty. Prawn appetizer a bit overpriced but overall, nice place to get fresh farm to table food in Bloomington. Also had quite a few gluten free options, including a great flourless chocolate cake.
Great Service and atmosphere. Highly recommend this place.
Amazing! Get the Parmesan garlic fries!
When we visit Bloomington each summer, we make this a dinner stop for sure. Never disappointed. See you again in a couple of weeks.
Drinks, food, and service were great. We've had dinner here before, but our service kept us from coming back. We thought we would try dinner again, and we were pleasantly surprised. We will definitely come back.
This was our choice for meeting two old friends to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We'd eaten here before, but either for breakfast or lunch, and not in a few years. What a disappointment. Believe our server was named Madison and she was terrific. Patient and capable. Had an overall feeling that the price/value relationship was way out of line in this restaurant.....and not in the customer's favor. My first martini had no gin, really. The trainee made it, explained Madison. Second...and last....one world class. Huh? Fish and chips day. Chips outstanding. Tartar sauce outstanding. Rest of meal, unremarkable, trending toward unappealing. Overall this strikes me as a restaurant that takes itself too seriously to the exclusion of the patrons. Can see dozens of pairs of tweezers strewn about the kitchen waiting to put an edible flower on top of your entree. I would have settled for food that tasted good. The chef may be legendary, but I found neither the food nor the experience very worthwhile.
Nice ambience, not as many vegetarian options as I had thought, salad was wilted, but mushroom pizza was great, friendly waiter
We arrived at 7:15 and ordered drinks and the fried chicken special. After serving our drinks, the waiter informed us that the restaurant had "run out of" the the special. We told him we'd have dinner elsewhere, which we did. The menu price of the bourbon we ordered was $11. The check charged us each $13. I asked the waiter about the discrepancy, and he "explained" that the prices were higher because I had ordered my bourbon neat and my wife had ordered hers on the rocks. (I am not making this up.) I will not be coming back to FARMbloomington and would recommend it only to people I intensely dislike.
Great service & food!
Highly recommended Bloomington restaurant from multiple people in the city. The restaurant lived up to all the expectations. Very good. Local food. Great service.
Dinner on my own but when you come here, who cares? So many delectable summer choices. Important to get the garlic fries, and take at least one other person to share them. Huge portion!! Added one of the summer salads, and had a very good glass of cab. Dessert included a chocolate martini which was delightful. The vanilla ice cream was a little too rich for me, given the martini I ordered. It was good. I just didn't need both and chose the martini. AND go for breakfast. It's amazing. Every. Time.
My husband and I ordered. He had a buffalo burger and I thought I ordered broiled salmon. The waitress misunderstood. We had waited at least 30 minutes before food was brought out. They corrected the mistake and I waited another ten minutes. My husband also waited until my order was served. We weren’t charged for my order, but his with fruit and coffees for us was overpriced.
We love FARM! I was disappointed that the items on the kids menu for brunch were all lunch entrees. My children would've eaten breakfast food much better!
Service was very slow. Chicken breast was dry but others enjoyed their meals.
Service was great. Soup and salad very tasty.
We were excited to be able to get a reservation to do some early celebrating for our son's upcoming graduation. There were five of us for brunch on Sunday. It's a lovely, fun restaurant and the meal would have been perfect if not for our server. He never cracked a smile, he never showed any interest in us and in fact we felt like he would rather be anywhere else on earth than waiting on us. We were a friendly group, didn't make any weird requests, we were polite etc. He just seemed to be bothered and inconvenienced to be our server. Unfortunately this overshadowed our dining experience. Our son really wanted to eat there- really wanted those fries and we were happy to take him and his girlfriend out to celebrate. All of our meals were wonderful but we still left with a bad taste in our mouth. It's a shame that this is what we will remember.
Great food in a relaxed, country themed setting.
Fun, different offerings, fresh, tasty
Friendly, sometimes prompt, sometimes not. We had two minor mishaps: 1. In ordering, I inquired about the chili lime mahi as I am very sensitive to spice. She checked with the chef and said it has a cajun flavor, mild, but cajun so I ordered the salmon since I reiterated I cannot handle any spice and did not want to take a chance. Later when we ordered, I ordered the garlic fries for the table (heard great reviews). I should have noticed the chili flakes, but also would have been nice for her knowing from our earlier conversation that I cannot handle anything spicy, to have mentioned the chili flakes, and that we can order without them. We ended up picking the flakes off the fries and didn't eat many of them (as that became tedious). 2. They delivered two entrees and assumed the third entree was following (they didn't say anything, but we assumed the third entree was following). It was at least 7 minutes later that we waited and flagged down our waitress inquiring, that we finally got the third entree.
All our food was delicious (except the chili flakes on the fries - if you like spice, then great, but if not, make sure to order w/o the chili flakes).
I appreciated I could get a reservation online as we were in Bloomington on a busy weekend.
Great food, great service. We had a great time!
An all-around great experience once again. The food never disappoints. The creativity, freshness and presentation are always great. Although there are some lower-priced items, it's easy to suddenly find yourself spending way more than you planned simply because the selections are so tempting. So, beware: This is not a budget option, but it is a great option when you're willing to bust the budget for something special ... or be REALLY careful about what you order.
An innovative, original restaurant idea with wonderful inventive food, a fun atmosphere, and good service.
I’ve been trying to get to FARMbloomington for dinner a few times over the past year. It was good. The service was very good. Perhaps we will try it again, but now I don’t feel like it’s a must.
Excellent food as always. Friday special of fish & chips was delicious. An overly generous portion, of which I took half home.
I took my daughter and friend, I u students, out because the was visiting Bloomington on business. It was the perfect place for us!
You know, this is the 3rd time I have made reservations for this place. All 3 times I have had confirmed reservations. The 1st t8me, it was for m6 wife and some friends. They showed up and the restaurant did no5 recall the reservation and it became a big hassle. The 2nd time, they called about 2 days before and cancelled it for me due to them having oversold (this was on 2017). And now, my wife and I made reservations. The day of the dinner, they call and tell me that they are sorry, but they need to cancel. This cannot be happening.
To their credit, the first time they called and left a voicemail. They called back again and asked if i5 was alright. I said that I did not know what choice I had and that it was not alright. I explained to the woman that called why I was upset. She said “oh well”. I could not believe it. Well, this is baseball season and this is FarmBloomington’s third strike. I am walking away from the plate because the inning is over.
