Escena Lounge & Grill
They appeared to be a bit short staffed a bit stressed out but overall great experience. Can’t beat the view.
What has happened to this restaurant? It used to be our go-to scenic spot for years. the food was always fine but the view is the real draw. The last 3 times we have "tried" to eat here the service has be horrific! this time we just left after 30 minutes of being ignored at our table - no water, no waiter, nothing. Sad that we will be crossing this place of our list.
Wasn’t very crowded but beautiful views and facility with delicious food. We enjoyed the crab cakes along with our main courses. We would recommend for a quiet evening dinner.
Shrimp pasta dish came with no sauce and pasta so cold the cheese solidified into a lump. Chicken piccata came with cold broccoli, and chicken itself was mediocre. VERY noisy with many drunks who weren't eating. Although it has fabulous view during daylight, at night there is nothing worth looking at inside or out.
Escena is fine for lunch but mainly because of the views, the food is just so so. At our dinner, the white wine was not sufficiently chilled and when we told the waiter, he didn’t seem to know how to respond. The crab cake appetizer was delicious, the pork belly taco was mostly shredded purple cabbage, light on the pork belly and the main courses went downhill from there. The scallop main course only had the scallops, 5 generous scallops, 2 were not properly cleaned but with the scallops were two grilled grapefruit and a bit of salad....more of an appetizer than a main course. It needed rice or something with it. The prime rib was just alright. The desserts were fair. I would not return for dinner again.
Exelent retreat! Would recommend and come here again!
Great views, good food but very average service.
Sunset is spectacular
It’s a golf course hang out if you will. The view is pretty but not like OMG!! The pictures are exaggerated if you ask me. It’s fine but nothing to write home about. It took 15 minutes to get water and don’t even ask how long for orders to be taken. The food is average. Good for casual meal and easy to hear one another. They did have a guy on bass guitar playing that was good but very loud inside and outside we couldn’t hear him at all.
The outdoor dining has to be one of, if not the BEST view in the valley! Consistently good food and service too.
Other than their homemade potato chips, I wouldn't recommend Escena for lunch or dinner. However, their drinks are good and I'd recommend going there for cocktails because there is a spectacular view from the outdoor dining patio. Go during the day and take in the beautiful scenery.
Nice venue. Food just ok nothing special
Great lunch with a picture-perfect scenery. A favorite place of mine. I always take out-of-town guests (and in-town guests) there
Very nice in all aspects. Clear view today. Service was fine. Beverages refilled as we sat longer than while we dined. The server and runners very pleasant. We had spinach salad, salmon salad and shrimp salad. All tasty.
Lovely ambience. Great for a dinner out with friends if you want to hear what your dining companions are discussing.
Had a disappointing experience there today. It took an extraordinarily long time to get our food (more than 45 minutes) and our waiter was quite blasé about it. The food wasn't very good either. I doubt that I will come back.
Nice view in a beautiful room. There is great outdoor seating, but also inside seating with incredible views, a nice bar and a big fireplace.
We thought the service was mediocre, but the food was tasty and the view was very pretty.
Food was good. Bloody Mary was way too HOT. Our friendly waiter took them back and had them remade but the result was totally bland. However his thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. We were disappointed in the view, which is normally spectacular, was shrouded in clouds and fog from the recent rains. Another disappointment was that it was cold so we could not dine outside on the patio. All of this, of course, was beyond the restaurant’s control. We will definitely be back on one of the many sunny days headed our way soon.
I was very disappointed in my dinner the other night. I ordered haddock and it was very dry, over cooked. The crab cakes were great for an app. They were very generous so I ended eating that for my dinner, taking the fish home to have for lunch, not much better for lunch.
Beautiful view of the golf course. Comfortable chairs. Very good soup and burgers
It had been a long time since my last visit to Escena, and now I remember why. I would describe my experience as mediocre in every regard. While the food is satisfactory, the service is always slow and somewhat inattentive. Serving a cup of coffee without asking if cream or sugar are desired, for example. A lot of guests love this place because of the lovely scenery, but for anyone wanting great food and service, I advise them to seek out one of the many other better Palm Springs eateries.
Great place to bring out of town guests. Great food, good service and incredible vistas.
Breakfast is great at Escena....dinner was not so great. I ordered a hamburger...it was dry....won't order it again.....
A quiet Saturday lunch at Escena with the outdoor diners outnumbering the 7 occupied tables inside. Very attentive servers and runners. The menu has changed, my favorite Cuban Sandwich has disappeared, but the lightly breaded chicken breast sandwich was attractively prepared, well seasoned and the baguette fresh and tasty. Salmon salad was beautifully plated and seasoned perfectly. Tuna salad sandwich was overstuffed and delicious. Portions are always very large and we always leave with leftovers in a box. Oh, and you can now order their homemade potato chips as a side — the chips and dipping sauce are always my downfall!
We met at Escena for a business lunch. The service was attentive but did not encroach on our 'meeting'. The food was very good, service timely and enjoyed by all. The real attraction of Escena is the beautiful view...best from the patio.. but it was too cool for us the day we dined at Escena. I would recommend Escena for anyone looking for a great place to dine and enjoy a fantastic view.
I always enjoy eating outdoors at Escena. They have the best views in the valley in my opinion. The food is good although on my most recent visit my burger was undercooked on about 40% of it so I hope that can be corrected next time. The servers are attentive although sometimes they seem overwhelmed. I will be back for sure as it's a winner overall.
I have been to Escena for lunch several times but when I took guests there this time it was not good. We waited way too long to get menus and to order. Way too long for food which one guest did not eat because he didn’t think the chicken was good. Like cardboard chicken. Dry and tasteless.
Part of the problem might be where we were seated. Nearest the rest room and far from the server’s path. No refills even when requested more iced tea and took forever to get the bill. Tip was reduced from the usual 20% to 10%. Staff was not at all attentive.
I very much like the views there and usually the service and food is good. Not this time. I will come back again as this be be an anomaly. I certainly hope so.
Luis is the most awesome server at the restaurant!!
New Years Day celebration with friends and it was nothing more than a sad lunch menu with simple turkey sandwiches and salads. What a wasted New Years meal. I was served coffee that was cold and then the server said sorry but our machine is broken!
Why would you serve a guest cold coffee from a broken machine?!?!
Salmon salad was under dressed, fish had sear marks but was tasteless and undercooked - defrosted only?
BLT was okay but the seasonal fruit side was a tragic bit of grapes and a slice of orange.
We never got the waters we ordered with the meal and the Bloody Mary’s we did get weren’t good at all.
The server was gracious enough to remove the cold coffee and returned salmon salad off our check...
We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past and have always found the food good. However, this time my salad was not fresh and my salmon was under cooked and cold. I was very disappointed. As a result we will choose a different restaurant for lunch next time.
New Year’s Eve. Fixed menu. Service and ambiance great. It’s a beautiful midcentury building. Menu great but execution missed the mark.
Normally escena bar and grill is great. Their New Years Eve dinner had very poor service. They did not plan well for the event. Very disappointed!
New Years early dinner. Just great. Had a fine meal and great service.
Booked New Years pre-fix dinner for 6 guests. Service was what seemed short staffed and not well organized. Hostess was dressed in jeans/sweatshirt and extremely under dressed for a New Years event. Staff took a while to bring out food. Had to ask for bread. First two courses were just ok. Butter lettuce salad had really no great appeal, second course was a shrimp avocado ceviche but it really wasn’t a ceviche at all. Two whole shrimp on a plate with avocado in the middle. The main course took a very long time to come out after second course. Rack of lamb has no sauce on plate which made it seem dry and lacked flavor. Three small potatoes and a couple carrots added no real help. The Sea bass was better and so was the pasta dish. The desert ended with our champagne that we had to ask for and blood orange cheesecake that wasn’t the right kind of texture to be a true cheesecake. We asked for coffee and never got it but then it wasn’t on the bill. We live at Escena and I would recommend making a few changes before having another special event like this one.
It was December 31 for breakfast. The dining room was about 10 percent full. We were informed that their coffee maker had broke the afternoon before and coffee was not available as the machine was not working. think that any REAL business would have at least gone to Walmart/ even Walgreens to obtain a temporary coffee maker/pot.
The view is excellent and food great
Winter in the desert. This seemed like a summer spot when I saw it on line. It was close to our hotel and when we got there it was warm and cozy and the staff was accommodating. Quiet and elegant with great cocktails, spot on service and a really good meal. Quality ingredients and expert prep. I bet it’s just as good in the summertime.
Pretty empty and yet lots of busy work going on by staff. Enjoyed the lunch.
This continues to be a place we go with visitors and friends. The outdoor dining and views are beautiful. The food is good basic food. Sitting at the bar is fun and the service at the bar far surpasses the service while sitting at a table. It is a great place to take our dog. But as always the service was awful. Not sure why they can't get the table service together, but they can't.
