   I had a very unfortunate experience at Emerils. I had business out of New Orleans and decided to fly in a day early to celebrate my birthday. I made a reservation weeks in advance at Emerils on Open Table. I caught an UBER to the location and happened to be early. The lady at the hostess desk advised me that I was early, she checked me in, and advised me I could come back in 25 minutes. Really? I was from out of town. Where was I to go? Well, I decided to just sit and wait at a table with bar stool. The hostess and the bartender were talking. No one offered me a glass of water or anything else. Another couple came in after me and were offered drinks while they waited. At 5:05, I was told my table was ready. To my astonishment, I was taken to a back room in a corner. I was told, it was the wine room. It was dark, hidden, and nothing like the dining room I envisioned when I made the reservation online to celebrate a milestone birthday. I asked for another table. All of a sudden, I changed from Ms Johnson to a bunch of pronouns. The night did not get better. By the way, the couple that arrived after me was sitting in the main dining room at a nice table next to the window...already eating appetizers. The waiter was very unprofessional for a supposedly upscale restaurant. Again, I was called everything but my name, doll, sweetie, hun, girl. I’m an African American female with a Ph.D. This whole experience made me feel like a slave from the Louisiana Purchase. I watched the manager go around to tables to check on the Patrons. He never approached my table or me. Having been blessed enough to eat at top restaurants around the world, the food was ok. The birthday petit four was stale or dry, and very disappointing. Emeril.....you must do better and some updated training should be scheduled. I can’t recommend this restaurant or any of your restaurants in New Orleans this July when I have hundreds of friends and family coming in for the Essence festival.

   Our food and drinks were outstanding. We had apps and drinks in bar then dining room for dinner. Gotta say I was so angry about being told that I reserved the bar seats (“open table does that sometimes” i was told) that it takes great effort for me to write this review. However the food and service was excellent. And brw there were soooo many open seats. Urgh

   We have eaten all over the City of New Orleans for many years. This is by far our favorite restaurant to eat at. My fondest memory of eating here is when we took our Son In Law , Kurt and our Daughter Tiffiny to eat here before he deployed for Iraq 15 years ago. He ordered steak and asked for ketchup. He loved his ketchup. Unfortunately he lost his life while overseas with other members of the Black Sheep from the La. National Guard unit. This restaurant will always be dear to our hearts. Love everything about this restaurant from the Food, Cocktails and service. Can not be beat!!!

    Great food. Pairing menu was fantastic although some of the wine selections was off.
