I am writing a honest review in regards to our first time at Ella Dining. We had reservations for my wife whom it was her 40th birthday and had reservations for indoor seating, also calling 2 days in advance to reconfirm as I spoke with Shane to make sure we had indoor seating because of the cold winter weather and being that one of our guest had just overcome cancer. When we arrived we were seated outside and then promised by the hostess / manager that they would get us indoor seating and never once did that person come back to talk to us. They offered to comp our first round of drinks, nice gesture but unfortunately the surprise was already ruined by not being able to enjoy any ambience of the restaurant, but a few loud mouth homeless people screaming outside the restaurant on the street and the hostess ruining the surprise of the friends we had that were waiting for my wife. It was for sure a disappointment. The food was average as we've had much better. I probably wouldn't recommend this restaurant to any friends or family because of our first experience.

The bar area is nice and refreshing. Restaurants seating feels claustrophobic. I don’t understand the window panel and long cloth drape concept. Food menu is fresh and new. However, it may not be worth the price point due to its quantity. Desserts is worth skipping. Nothing memorable. Service was excellent.

As usual lunch was great at Ella, nice simple menu, nice drinks, I recommande the home made gin tonic… I had the oysters, they were delicious, so was the tartar de boeuf. I finished with the king salmon and risotto, a bit pricey and the salmon was over cooked, but the dish overall was fine. My waiter was polite and reserved but a couple other staff members, not sure of their role, were a bit stiff, not in a good mood perhaps, not friendly and I perceived some arrogance I have seen in some restaurants where the staff think they are part of a three star Michelin set when they are in fact just serving decent bistro food… was that the case here? anyway, I am never disappointed with the food here.

We had our company board meeting there and we were very pleased with the service and that we were able to get everything done while enjoying our meals. The menu choices were great, and the food was very delicious.

Ella used to be a reliable treat for those special days. Perhaps with the recent Michelin status for the Kitchen, more people are swarming in and the quality is noticably dropped. I arranged for a anniversary dinner for my parents. They ordered the short ribs and steak which were very salty. Though mistakes happen, I was more surprised when they were told that this was recognized but they decided to serve it anyway. This would not have happened in the past. Also, what I have come to expect is the supreme service by the waitstaff. Everyone was kind but our server was a bit off in her timing...it was busy so this was understandable. The food we had was again, not the perfection I have come to love over the years. I saw the $23 truffle rolls and ordered without hesitation, expecting to be knocked out of my socks as I had been with earlier Ella dishes. It was meh. Our entrees were also lackluster. I would expect much better with the prices. The ambience of the night was noisy. There was a group of drunk partiers as well as a very loud shrieking child which dampened our comfort. This is NOT the restaurants fault but merely something to bring up in case you were expecting a quiet environment to celebrate a low key birthday or somthing. Overall, this experience will not cause me to NOT go back for now, but if the next time shows that this is the new baseline, I probably will stop going.

The food was amazing! Beautiful and perfectly prepared! The restaurant itself is gorgeous! Unfortunately the service was below our expectations considering the cost $$. Constantly looking for our server, waiting too long for our check which came back incorrect twice. Said he would box up my chicken to take home and never came back with it. Also forgot to bring our cheese board and had to be reminded, by then our meal had arrived.

My husband and I were celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary. This was our first time here and it was amazing. Our waiter was the best, the food was great and the presentation was beautifully done. We got the tomahawk steak w/truffle supplement, the duck confit potatoes, gem salad and bread w/butter. Oh! The dessert was delicious (apple pie skillet). We will definitely come back!! Amazing 😍

Excellent first visit to Ella's and will return. True, it is a little pricy, but we have paid much more for same elevated or less quality & service. Shout out to Brian our Server extraordinare who was well versed on.... everything. They were also very conscientions about our time as we were seeing a show. Look forward to trying more menu items on our return!

We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Service was attentive and well paced. The menu was mouth-watering, with descriptions that were colorful without being overly cute. Our server was well informed, polite, and hospitable. And to top it all off, everything was delicious.

Ella’s bar is as good as ever, but something’s happened to the kitchen. Food was mediocre to poor. We’ve been there many times and we’re always delighted by the food. Not this time. Short rib was still red and steak-like, chicken over salted, risotto was like porridge and had very little flavor. The prices for the food are sky high and unjustified in my new opinion. Next time we will sit at the bar and just have drinks

Exquisite comes to mind. Our server James was amazing. As he says, the food dances on the palate. He picked the perfect wines to pair with the perfect food. Ella’s never disappoints

Strange, chewy grass fed steaks were a total miss. Both of us commented that our steaks were “off” to our server. No real concern or care given. As a carnivore, I eat beef daily. The steak was a failure.

The waiter was terrible. He made numerous mistakes. He comped one item, but it was not enough. I won’t be back to the restaurant for a long while if ever at all.

Ella has always been our favorite restaurant in Sacramento. We think they have the freshest and tastiest oysters in town. However, my dinner there last Saturday was very disappointing. I had the sweet potato soup and the lobster spaghetti. Whereas the food was tasty (thank goodness) they were LUKE WARM! That took away half of the enjoyment of these dishes. If it wasn't for the good service, and the hot cup of coffee (finally!) at the end, I would want to think twice before returning!
