The service was by far the best we've had in a long time from other establishments. Such a brightness to an already glowing evening. Teresa, our server was attentive to all our needs and each and every one of the other staff who walked by our table stopped to ask if we needed anything. Not in a bothersome manner, but courteous and genuine.
Overall an okay experience. The food was okay, drinks were too expensive, service was fine because we asked for the same thing multiple times beside getting it though they were polite, but overall we enjoyed our company and it was beautiful inside so we don’t regret our experience, just won’t be back anytime soon.
Our anniversary evening at Ella was lovely. The service was outstanding and the food prepared perfectly. We had a fabulous table by the window. The ambiance is extremely romantic. A wonderful place to celebrate with someone special.
Excellent dining experience in every respect from the interesting tamarind pea soup to the moist flavorful roast chicken . The stuffed agnolotti was innovative with some nice flavors garnished with hazelnut. Topped off with chocolate panna cota.
The wine parring was spot on. The place has a nice energetic vibe.
Definitely that place you take to impress someone, but there was just too long of a wait in between courses. Especially when it was picked from a predetermined menu with only two options per course. The lack of punctuality did not dull the great tasting food though. Would go back but with better expectations. You can't have it all.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal. This is the place for a superb dining experience. Warning it is pricey but I suppose you get what you pay for. A good for a memorable evening.
The wait staff if very attentive and the food is wonderful. Can’t wait to go back!
The service as always was superlative! The chilled seafood appetizer was delicious and the oysters were straight out of the ocean. This is my go to place for a special occasion, business meal or dinner with friends !
A very festive, very much in the style of places we'd frequent back east. Elegant and casual at the same time. We could have limited our dinner to two or three small plates, some soup and salad, and wine, and we would have had more than enough to satisfy our appetites. The whole dungeness, as good as it was, seemed a tad too casual for the place. You want to wrestle with a dish like that. You need pine tables, not hardwood, covered in news pulp because you know you're going to get good and dirty. Ella, a least in the main room, does not seem like that place. Maybe at the bar. Next time, we go there. It seemed like a lot of fun.
Service was excellent, very well trained staff and very knowledgeable. That food was beautifully done. On the high end for prices, but the deliver the whole package for great dining.
Went for the Sacramento Dine Downtown event, very worth the $40 price for three courses.
We enjoyed the dine downtown menu at Ella’s on a busy Monday night. The variety satisfied everyone and the wine pairings were perfect. The noise level accommodated our 70+ hearing and the service was friendly and efficient. We’ll be back,
Amazing food! Great environment.
Incredible dining experience! Food, service and ambiance were all top TOP notch and exceeded our expectations. We already can't wait to come back and make this our regular place. Thank you
The ribeye tomahawk steak was fantastic as was the mushroom soup. However, I would recommend skipping the the shaved truffles on the soup as it costs three times as much as the soup (but it was really good, just not worth it).
Food is great but the tenderloin is too salty.
Great food and service. Wish the bar drinks came out quicker, but that wasnt the waiters fault. They just werent making the drinks in a timely manner. Delicious and great experience overall.
Celebrating a new job
Was disappointed they didn’t offer “Dine Downtown” special menu for lunch. Food and service just ok. Expected more for the price.
I always have a good experience here. My colleagues loved it and were very happy I chose this place for our lunch.
We had reservations for 2 at 5:45. Initially our server was very attentive, but as the evening got busier we felt he “forgot” about us. We were there for over 2 hours and eventually I had to get up, walk to our server and cancel our dessert order because it was taking too long. We were taking home left overs that he boxed up but he never brought it back to us. We still had a little wine left to drink but he didn’t come over anymore to fill our empty glasses. It was a $400 meal and we were very disappointed with our service.
It was noisy (high ceilings) but not abnormal for a restaurant, I suppose. TERRIFIC service. Excellent food (I had the short rib and roasted squash with nuts). NO WAIT with a reservation - and on a Friday!
As always, excellent service and outstanding food!
Fabulous food as usual and wonderfully attentive service. We love Ella!
One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. Food was outstanding. Cocktails were great. Good wine by the glass selection. It’s pricy but worth it for special occasions!
My wife and I love going to Ella for date nights! Everyone is friendly and professional, and the food is excellent.
The meal itself was delicious and impeccably prepared. Plating was beautiful. Service was not what we anticipating when dropping $500.00 for our 20th Anniversay/New Year's Eve dinner. Ella's provides a strict timeline of showing up within 15 min. or forfeit the reservation. We arrived early for a 10:00 pm seating, yet weren't seated until 10:45. While waiting at a table at the bar, a couple asked how do you get service here. Which set the tone for the evening. Dinner was a price fixed $135.00 per person and we opted for the wine pairing @ $65.00 per person. Our server appeared overwhelmed by the volume of people and needed to be reminded of our wine pairing, when we didn't receive it. The busser was extremely attentive keeping our table clean. Overall, the delicious meal was overshadowed by the poor service.
Made reservations to celebrate a coming anniversary thinking this would be much better than Il Fornaio or Morton's on New Years eve and I was highly disappointed for the following reasons.
1.) Was Not Seated On Time -25 Min Past Reservation Time
2.) Excited to Try the Menu i.e. Seafood Towers etc, Steaks but was told it was only a 3 Course Menu that
evening and given the option for a Bar Menu for a special occasion. It was too late to go anywhere else
at this point .
3.) Seated in a location outside of the main dining area that was cold and highly not comfortable
4.) Ordered the Fried Chicken but was highly disappointed in this as it was much better at Joes Prime
Steak in Vegas, or Roscoes in So Cal. Tenderloin of Beef was a much better dish which my wife
ordered. The hotsauce made in House was the best part of the fried chicken dish.
5.) I am sure not all the employees behave this way but our waiter gave us the flashback of the waiters
you usually get at a Olive Garden or Outback Steakhouse, where they bring a glass of Water and dont
come back for 35 to 40 Minutes . Yes the waiter disappeared for this long and we had to grab a
manager to get them back to help us?
Overall Restaurant had great decor, poor table service, but seems more suited for focusing on larger groups than Smaller Ones, so I wont be looking to go back anytime soon. Fortunately we were able to visit Lupo, and Cut Steakhouse in Las Vegas a few days before and had good meals at these restaurants but it was a big disappointment for our final meal of 2019.
The NYE menu was phenomenal. The courses were innovative, beautifully presented, and tasted wonderful. The service was stellar. The ambiance was gorgeous and festive for NYE. The only negative I can say about the NYE menu (and everyone at our table likewise commented on this) was that every dish had a very similar tasting and looking "puree" under it. It would have been nice to have seen either a broth, a risotto or some sort of ragu or something different under a few of the courses to mix it up. Other than that it was wonderful!! As for review from Kary H: Ok who just walks in on NYE to one of Sacramento's BEST restaurants expecting dining room seating and a regular menu??? I mean really! I had to make my reservation 30 days in advance and knew all along it was a prix fix. Do your homework people! As for review from OT, are you forgetting the fact that your meal also came with a very nice French bottle of Champagne? You left that off of your review in saying it was not worth $130 a person. I beg to differ. It was worth every penny!
The Chefs menu was fabulous, the wine and spirit pairings were spot on, and the service was great.
Ella's is a lovely place for dinner. Great bar and atmosphere. We attended on New Year's eve. It was a fixed menu and the place was hopping. Our waiter Jeremy was very attentive and had a great attitude even tho we could tell he was crazy busy. This isn't our first time eating at Ella and it won't be our last.
First time here for NYE dinner. Although the food was very good, I do not feel it was $135 dollar meal. For $135 per person I think it should have been FABULOUS. Being a server myself, I notice little things like not removing the large drink menu from the table until dessert, leaving an empty cocktail glass with melted ice on the table... even after bringing another round, and not bringing the wine I ordered until I was done with the main course. Small details that I could easily overlook if I was not paying $135 person before drinks, tax, and tip. It was good, but not Fabulous. I might try this place again for a regular meal, but would not return for a special event such as NYE. The value just didn’t the price. I would have been satisfied with this meal at $75-$90 per person.
Dinner was wonderful. The service was great. The attention to detail was marvelous. Ella's is truly a dining experience.
We love Ella!!
Such a lovely experience for a date night with my hubby. We shared the mini Brie board to start, butter lettuce salad, fried chicken, braised short rib, and squash for a side. We loved every bite! Highly recommend this gem!
