Restaurant was unable to serve us despite making a reservation online. I guess this was due to limited COVID staff. It would be helpful to shut the booking system down on days where no on-site staff is available though. I still want to come back and try out the restaurant, as it had been recommended to me.
Showed up on time for my reservation and there was 1 employee eating food behind the counter in the front of the restaurant.
I said I had a reservation, and he said “oh no were closed” - yet all the doors were open to the restaurant.
Strange little interaction, was disappointed none the less because I had driven 45 minutes to the restaurant.
Great food. Kind of slow service but I would def go back.
Amazing! Service great! Fun atmosphere.
Electric Karma never disappoints! Food the ambience the service— everything. We love dining there!!
I absolutely loved this place, the food was definitely a combination of authentic and some items had a American spin on them. Definitely will be going back!
I loved my experience at Electric Karma. The ambiance is such a vibe, kind and friendly staff, and the food was amazing!
Service & staff was top notch & the food was flavorful & cooked perfectly Will definitely make regular visits
Amazing service, very kind staff, great food, beautiful ambiance.
Our reservation for a bday dinner was @730pm. We got there on time and walked into an empty restaurant and no one came out to greet and seat us for 10-15minutes. A guy with his mask hanging under his chin chomping on food walked out and said he will grab the owner to seat us. We walked out and said no thank you. First impression is everything and that whole experience turned us off and did not make us feel like we want to celebrate a bday there. Too bad tho wanted to support small/local business for the bday before the city went back into lock down mode.
Beware the tables in the back courtyard are not socially distanced. They attempted to seat us between a party of eight and a table with two literally shoulder to shoulder. I don’t know how this restaurant is doing this during a pandemic. In the end we walked out. Awful experience.
The kitchen was closed when we arrived.
If you know Punjabi food and love Indian food in general. This is the place to go. The atmosphere, the server, and the chef are just wonderful. I came with my girlfriend for a night out and left with a smile on my face. Being Indian/Punjabi, it's hard to find really good Indian food that feels like it was made at home. This place exceeds expectation and makes you feel like when you were a kid and you're Mom or Dad gave you your favorite dish. I appreciate and support businesses during COVID and would encourage for people to order take out or dine in to this wonderful place.
Electric Karma is a hidden gem in LA! The best undiscovered restaurant. The service is amazing, the food is to die for and the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re at a friends house for dinner. And, they sent us away with the best souvenirp ever ;)
Food was great!
Something about this place has declined, sadly. Food still tasty, but service is non-existent and atmosphere is dead.
We had an Open Table Reservation yet after seating us, we didn’t see a waiter for 35 minutes - I was visiting town and out with my sister, so we were catching up, but it was a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a glass of water and a menu!! Then our food took so so very long -
They seemed to only have one waiter - whom didn’t know who he sat in what order .. a total mess!
I feel bad because I really wanted to like it!
It was very cold inside and the portions were tiny but the food was delicious
As always a great experience.
We love the food and ambiance here and usually the service is fine. For some reason this time, both servers could barely bother taking our order/ bringing our food and one dish never did arrive. When I finally told them to please cancel it, the waiter gave me major attitude. There were six of us, but when we arrived for our early 6pm rez there was only one other family party who were basically done, so no reason for the bad service. Disappointing, tho our friends loved the food.
I went out on a limb and surprised my partner with dinner here. It was refered to me by open table and it was a success. The place has an authentic Indian feel to it. The food was absolutly mind blowing. I am gluten free and they have endless gluten free options along with vegitarian options. There is also a back patio that you sit on the floor to dine at the table. There are cushions for your back so they make it very comfortable. I highly recommend this place for great Indian food.
Food was great. Service was snail paced & the server a bit rude. Restaurant was very cold. Still, I’ll go back because the food was so good. I’ll just be prepared next tume
Some of the best Indian food i've ever had in LA. Great service, great atmosphere!
Great location, cute place, polite service. Food was tasty, but the Mattar paneer left something to be desired. Was shocked on the way out to notice they had a B rating from the health department. That’s not good and should be fixed immediately. Would return if they go back to an A.
Food was delicious! Very attentive service!
Went on a Thursday night and there wasn’t too many people there. Food was good, but could have been more spicy. Service was great and prices were on point.
Thank you for the great feedback. We are glad to see that you enjoyed your experience. We will take your points into consideration and attempt to create the best possible experience in the future. We hope to serve you again soon!
Such an amazing dining experience. The ambiance and food is just so great
Great dining experience! Always be my favorite Indian place!!!It was my husband’s first time here and we both Loved everything we had! Wish we could eat more but our stomach were already full from eggplant salad, shrimp biryani and chicken tikka masala. Oh well, we can always come back and tried the garlic naan, tandoori , kabab etc!
Having spent 18 days in states
Was nice to have a change to usual fare
And the curry hit the spot
Not as hot in uk standards , but great taste and would recommend to anyone
The food was amazing.
Ambience awesome. Loved that they offer traditional Indian seating!
See you next month
Likes the food and ambience
Lovely food, fast and friendly service and a good price
I'm sorry to say it but this is a typical Indian restaurant in LA. >>> Dumbed down for americans. We asked for spicy and the food was bland. The tonic in the gin and tonic was the old stale kind at a cheap bar. The atmosphere is dark and the decor very uninteresting. Would not go back.
The restaurant was preparing for a large party, which I didn’t know when I made my reservation. Since the main dining room was reserved, I took a table in the back—which is floor seating. The seats weren’t very comfortable and the carpet was dirty. The servers and staff were all preoccupied with prepping for the large party, so service was slow. I ordered tandoori chicken, rice, and garlic naan. The chicken was OK; the rice and naan were dry. When I asked for my check, it took more than 10 minutes to finally get it. I watched the server run about helping the large party, which had just arrived. Getting out of the restaurant was a bit tight, as the large party filled the front room and the space itself was not ideal for moving about with so many people and a buffet set up. There were guests crowded into the entryway, waiting to be seated. It felt as though the restaurant should’ve closed to accommodate such a large party, rather than other guests being impacted by the slow service and low quality of the food.
We enjoyed our time at Electric Karma. The ambiance was great - it was romantic, intimate, and cozy, but it also had a festive vibe. The food was good - I would definitely recommend the chicken tikka masala, as it had a sweetness in the sauce that was delicious. Some of the other dishes lacked a little bit of flavor, it all together, it was great. We liked the combo platters - a good amount of food for a fair price. We especially liked the chutneys/sauces with the samosas.
Was a little disappointed. I ordered a chicken Korma and was served a chicken Mango korma. They took the dish back to the kitchen and returned with supposedly a chicken Korma. Strangely all I could taste was Mango...
The owner was very courteous and there's a nice ambiance; however it was the owner who admitted, when we asked, that he forgot to ask us for the spice level of our dishes. We ordered lamb vindaloo and chicken curry. The dishes may have been better perhaps if we were consulted & informed about what level of heat we prefer. Our dishes ended up being VERY bland as no level of heat was added of course. The value was NOT there for the lamb vindaloo. There were at best 6 pieces of actual meat (amd the pieces were not good sized) and there were chunks of boiled potato in the dish. Since I don't eat lamb often I was looking forward to actually eating lamb, but felt cheated. Finally, the garlic naan was not garlicky and not very tasty. Plain. Hopefully other people have better luck with this place. We will not be back.
Lovely neighborhoody Indian. Very attentive service and delicious food. We had one person who couldn't tolerate hot spice and they were very accommodating. The food is always good and made with very fresh ingredients.
My favorite Indian restaurant in LA. I’m sure I’ve reviewed before. We always go there.
