You don’t need to cross the Pacific to get a taste of Hawaii. Duke’s La Jolla is San Diego’s island-inspired home, honoring the Ambassador of Aloha, Duke Kahanamoku, with coastal cuisine of Hawaii, craft cocktails and a genuine spirit of aloha. It’s the same authentic hospitality and panoramic ocean view that you’ll find at all of the California and Hawaii Duke’s restaurants, paying tribute to the Duke and welcoming you to celebrate life like the legend himself.

You’re definitely paying for the view. The hummus was really good and the drinks were good but everything else was pretty disappointing.
server was incredible! made the experience that much better along with the views
Wonderful food! Excellent service!! Amazing environment - felt like we were actually in Hawaii!
Average. And cheap portions and ingredients.
Really enjoyed the views and the dishes. Poke tacos are a good appetizer to start with! Would come back again!
We celebrated a friend's birthday here and we got sat on the patio with the best ocean view. Then service was very attentive and the food was delicious. My friend is GF and the menu was easily customizable to her needs - and the birthday treat for her was a GF key lime pie, which was delicious!
great ambiance upstairs at the bar out on the patio overlooking the ocean. Very good tacos on Taco Tuesday. Great live music, too.
Held a small family birthday celebration at Dukes last evening. Fantastic food (sea bass was phenomenal), excellent service, gorgeous views. Highly recommend!
Our server was very kind and was on top of everything. The food was the best seafood I have had and it was outstanding. The whole experience was great overall!
We had a great time. Loved the food, the service was attentive. The vibe was a lot of fun.
Lovely view! Tasty food! Great service!!! This is a great place to go when visiting La Jolla!
The food was outstanding. The macadamia nut hummus was to die for! You made our anniversary a very special occasion. We will be back!
This was my second visit in 2 days and I expected an even better experience. However, due to the hostess and sitting manager, it was not to be. In my reservation I had requested a table closest by the sea view. We were taken to a table further away. After sitting down I asked if we could get a table closer, and I was told that we can’t be moved once seated. I asked to speak to the manager and requested if we could be reseated. The manager stated that we couldn’t be reseated unless we agreed to wait 25 minutes for a table in a different floor. I said no thanks politely and went back to our table. Within 25 minutes every table with the best sea view became available. They stayed vacant when we left. I think the manager needs to be retrained to be more reasonable in accommodating customer requests and not hold on to unnecessarily foot dragging like “company policy”, “it is a lot of cleaning for covid to get a table ready”, and plain arrogance. This was a totally unnecessary unpleasantness that took an enjoyable afternoon and turned it sour.
wonderful view, excellent service , amazing food,
This visit was so disappointing. Honestly the only things that stood out were the environment/view and the poke tacos. Everything else was mediocre. If I went again it would be for happy hour only.
The dinner was excellent the food was wonderful the service was just OK. We were celebrating an anniversary and no one commented on it even though I did put it on open table that we were having our anniversary. The waiter seem to be overworked or tired. Because of the pandemic we still tipped him over 20%.
The Tristin lobster tail was almost as good as the Hula pie!
I told them it was a birthday but they never acknowledged that. Also, soda came out very flat.
Good food! And great service! Reasonable price for the food, a little bit over charger beverage. Definitely will go back!!!
Great fast service, waiter, food and environment in the restaurant
Great views. Hold out for the tables against the glass.
I had a delicious meal and waitress was always coming to check on me.
I was there for my birthday. We thought we were having brunch but it had ended 20 minutes before we arrived so they weren't serving anymore which was a disappointment! We ordered the calamari appetizer, coconut shrimp, and the combo plate lunch with the ribs and huli huli chicken. We also ordered a Hendrix Gin-Mary which to be honest, was the best thing to hit the table! to say that the food was underwhelming was to say a lot! The calamari was a joke! There were no rounds nor tentacles it was just strips from the old Howard Johnson's clams days! Greasy and doused with tartar sauce and a sorry excuse for guava cocktail sauce, because you could barely taste anything that resembled guava. I have been to Dukes in Huntington Beach, Waikiki, Lihue Kauai, and the Malibu locations and until this visit have always had a decent meal. The combo plate lunch had a thin piece of chicken thigh sliced in half and put on a skewer that was the chicken portion!! The rib portion had five ribs -- NO VALUE there! Because it was my birthday they brought us a complementary piece of hula pie. The server was very nice but not attentive at all! I really wanted to like this place especially for my birthday! The view was the best thing about the lunch besides my company and I guess that's what you pay for -- because it certainly was not the cuisine!!
Had my birthday brunch here! they say us outside with a view and everything was yummy. I was very satisfied.
We've enjoyed your restaurants in Maui, Waikiki, and now San Diego...Greta service, great food...Love the Hula Pie
Dukes is always amazing. It is not inexpensive, but it is well worth it.
This is a must eat in La Jolla!! Delicious food, excellent service, beautiful views outside and an overall great dining experience!! I’m glad I chose this place for my birthday lunch!
Ate a late dinner with my wife and two young kids. The food was awesome. We had the chicken and ribs plate. Both of those were amazing. My wife’s macadamia encrusted fish was incredible. Our kids loved their kids meals. They had a good selection of local beers. Our only complaint was that my wife’s margarita was a bit strong, but some people might see that as a strength. The hula pie was a hit as well.
The food was absolutely amazing and service was great. Overall a great dining experience and will definitely come back soon.
Incredible food (the hula pie alone is worth the trip), great cocktails, awesome service, and lovely atmosphere. Heaters are outside if you get chilly and it's very comfortable seating. 10/10 will eat here again.
Great service and wonderful food love love dukes
We arrived for dinner at 7:20 for a seven thirty reservation and were seated immediately on the patio with a great ocean view. It was a little chilly but a heat lamp helped. We had three appetizers, all tasty, entrees, and huge desserts. My entree was the macadamia coated fresh fish and it was excellent.
Our waitress was swamped with a huge table nearby and did not pay much attention to u. We didn't really need her until we wanted to get the check and leave, but we had to send by another waitress to request the check after waiting a really long time.
Otherwise, an A1 experience.
While we thought we were going for "Taco Tuesday", that did not happen, as it is only on the upper level. Also, there is no "Happy Hour" which was a bummer. The view was incredible though. The service was great, but the food was just good.
Come for the view but don’t expect to he wowed by the food.
Bianca was a fabulous waitress and the food was excellent as always. We were only disappointed in the reduced menu, we guessed due to Covid. We go every time we visit Honolulu, and now we discovered the one in La Jolla.
Everything we had was very good. Will definitely be going back!
Kind, attentive service. Delicious food! You gotta try the herb crusted fish!!
We come here often. I have noticed that recently the prices keep increasing. I usually order the same entree and it’s gone through two price increases over the last few visits. Otherwise its always a great dining experience.
The food was delicious. Loved the calamari and the crab cakes. But there wasn’t anything too great about it. However, the Hula Pie definitely sealed the deal for a great experience. Overall, had a great time. The staff was super friendly and on spot with timing.
The food and service at Dukes is always consistently wonderful. Beautiful views.
I was here with my husband celebrating our wedding anniversary. View was great, service was great, the food and drinks were ok. The Lavender colada was really good, a unique flavor.
Overall a nice visit but not at the top of my list to revisit.
