Great time, great service. Food and Mai Tai’s were very good.
Dukes has a great vibe and a cool decor. Wait staff is friendly. Menu small but has something for everyone. Our meal was excellent and we will definitely be back.
Delicious with a unbelievable view! A slice of aloha heaven!
Food, service and chews were all amazing! Highly recommend
We had a wonderful waitress. Cant remember her name but we were there at 7:30 on Tuesday October the 20th. Blonde hair.
Celebrated my mom’s birthday
A must experience in San Diego, beautiful view and excellent food and service!!
Food was excellent as always. Bar drinks were a bit sloppy. Same drink for three ppl all had visibly different volumes of liquid with garnishes that looked old
Not much of a menu unfortunately. I had a hard time finding something.
Duke's was a pleasant informal escape with a Hawaiian theme. Recommend for dining with friends.
Our server, Mary, was so nice and thoughtful. She really took interest and showed her happiness for our anniversary and pregnancy. She even brought us a complimentary dessert to celebrate! The view was amazing and food delicious. Looking forward to coming back again.
Excellent food and service with beautiful ocean views. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Dukes.❤️🌴
1 vegan option on menu. Burger was mediocre
The quality of their food is horrible! Very very salty food.
Once again it was a great evening. Can’t wait to do it again. Great food, fantastic service and the best sunset view you could ask for.
We had a reservation at 3pm. We got there and we were given a 8 people table in a corner by where the dishes are discarded. We were 2 people, and I had mentioned in the reservation that I want a table by the balcony for a special occasion (or at least something similar). They said we could change the table but we need to wait a little longer. We agreed. 40 minutes later we were told that our second table was given away “by mistake” and we either have to wait another 45 minutes for another table, or “there is nothing else they can do”. We saw a bunch of parties being seated while we waited. We left. We just wasted 1 hour of a beautiful Sunday for nothing. For a 5 star restaurant this kind of service should not “be ok”.
Jake was an outstanding server and we enjoyed the meal very much. Great view, as well
Table and ocean view were fantastic. Loved the food and the cocktails. Poke tacos and lavender colada are a must.
We chose Duke's when looking for a casual place for lunch in La Jolla with an ocean view. We reviewed the online menu and decided what we wanted to order ahead of time. We arrived for our reservation and were made to feel very welcome. Service was very prompt, knowledgeable and genuinely friendly. Our seafood meal could been better. We left being extremely pleased with choice and experience.
Brunch is excellent and very reasonable for locale.
Delicious food well presented
Great view and tables spaced apart, food was delicious!
Good food, good view, and good service. It's why we keep coming back.
Great waiter- kept thanking us in Hawaiian. Great ambience; everything I wanted for my birthday dinner- ocean, great food, great company, great restaurant and EVEN complimentary Hula pie for my special occasion!
Fantastic service and food. Great view of the water. The fish tacos are amazing.
Food was really good. Service was amazing
Duke's has great service and ambiance. The food is good but it is not such a wow. The experience is worth it.
Took my wife and granddaughter to celebrate her starting her new nursing job and the people at Duke's made it a special event for her. Food was fantastic, service was exceptional and the ambience including the wonderful view was great.
I have been to Dukes in Malibu and Waikiki and was disappointed in the La Jolla branch. The ambiance was lacking. The patio on the main floor is blah unless you get one of the few tables overlooking the ocean. There is a large structure that obscures the view of the water and sunset for the remainder of the tables. Regarding food the fish tacos and coconut shrimp were very good. The rib and chicken combo was so so: the ribs were very good and the chicken was inedible. Eating the chicken was like eating shoe leather. ( My husband declined to tell the waiter because there were enough ribs to satisfy him.) We were celebrating a birthday so receiving a complimentary piece of hula pie was a nice touch and ended the meal on a good note.
Dukes made our first wedding anniversary very special and gave us the best ocean view table in the house! The steak was literally the best we’ve ever had, the mahi plate was amazing, and the hula cake was the perfect end to a perfect meal. The only thing better than the food and the view, was our server (sorry I didn’t get your name!). He was attentive and made sure we were taken care of on our special occasion. We will be coming back here every time we are in SD. We are sincerely thankful.
Made a res for a MONDAY eve at 6pm.. it was our 30th wedding anniversary and I made sure to note that, and I even called the day of to tell the hostess and basically beg for a table on the water...
the hostess was not that nice and made it a point to say “waterfront tables are 1st come” ok I get it, but it’s a FREAKIN Monday night at 6pm , DURING Covid era, and our 30th Wedding anniversary. and she can’t save 1 damn table for a special occasion.. needless to say we did not get what we requested. We were put upstairs in the outside bar area next to a table with two screaming kids.. now I know the kids are not the Resturants fault, but I was disappointed. I wanted so badly to say on my way out, “Someday you will be celebrating a special occasion and I hope you get better service than I did from you.”
I didn’t do it & I wasn’t going to leave a review at all but Open table kept prompting me.
Overall the food at Dukes is Ok.. fish is usually over cooked and dry..
Mai Tais are great.
Our Server Quincy was FANTASTIC and we took care of him. But overall I’m never going back to Dukes for a special occasion.
Our experience at Dukes in La Jolla was fantastic. Our waitress was wonderful, the hostess and all the employees were friendly. It gave us the feeling that they were happy to be back to work and very, very appreciative of our business.
Great place for sightseeing too. The weather was superb!!
Everything about this place was amAzing!!
Best nachos, view and service - excellent brunch spot. Excellent wine and beer menu.
It was a great experience for out Anniversary. The waiter was terrific and ambiance was outstanding on the patio area. Highly recommend.
This was our first time to Duke's of La Jolla although we have been to other Duke's and Jake's restaurants in different locations. The ambience sitting out on the deck was very enjoyable. Our table was at least six feet away from the other tables. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We were well taken care of. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed the coconut shrimp appetizer and the rib appetizer as well. I ordered the filet for dinner and it was excellent. My daughter is gluten-free and they were very accommodating to her. She had no problem finding something that she liked. The cocktails were fabulous too! Overall, it was a great dinner. I would definitely recommend it and hope to return someday. Cheers!
Thank you very much to a lovely and friendly staff!!
