Duke's La Jolla
Food was mediocre. The noise level was too high. The room felt like a cafeteria. I was expecting palms and rainforest atmosphere. The receptionist was charming and the waiter friendly and helpful.
Beautiful location. Food and service were great. Our server Lauren was very personable and knowledgeable.
Lovely view of the ocean when entering you feel as if you were attending a Hawaiian Luau! Delicious food.
Food was very good....as good as it was in Hawaii. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
food was very mediocre, not very good. one in our party’s steak came out grossly overcooked and the second time it was the raw. the manager was very nice and really tried to make it right. he is a keeper! but overall very expensive and not very good. our waiter was honestly a little rude. but manager great!
Awesome as always
Absolutely awful experience and subpar staff.
The banana macadamia nut pancakes were delish and my son loved the French toast with fresh strawberries. He also had the strawberry smoothie - so good. My husband had the moco loco and he really enjoyed it!
We were tucked in the curve of the outlook. Because it was raining and dark out, it felt sterile and cold up against the staircase. Hence the reason for my score for ambiance. However, I am sure that during the day, it would have been a beautiful view to north Torrey Pines!
Awesome place to celebrate a birthday! Our server was so kind!
Terrific service, food was great, drinks were tasty. Love that Hula Pie. Our waiter was friendly, energetic and knowledgeable.
Enjoyed our fish tacos, both kinds, and dessert -- good recommendations from our server; glad it wasn't too busy (Tuesday night); note that sunset views are for warm nights (our Feb date was too chilly and we were sheltered but limited in our view)
Had a reservation and asked for a view table for our 30 year anniversary - we were put at the worst table with no view. Guests walking in without reservations were placed at ocean front view tables, VERY DISAPPOINTING. Upon leaving the restaurant, neither hostess acknowledged our leaving. Would not recommend nor will we return.
Our server, Lauren was exceptional and very attentive to our needs. The food was great!
We visited Duke’s as part of our 3-day weekend/holiday staycation in the San Diego area.
Family lunch. Sashimi was super fresh. Drinks were made perfect. My kid loved fish taco from keiki menu. My dukes cheeseburger was perfect!
Beautiful view despite sitting next to a table with a screaming toddler. The oceanfront table opened up and we asked to move, but they gave it away to someone who just arrived (even though we requested it via Open table when we made our reservation). The tuna bowl was somewhat disappointing and lacking flavor, but the overall vibe was great. And who doesn't love their hula pie?
I was disappointed. The eggs were raw and runny The potatoes were hard. It was too expensive for poor quality breakfast.
The food is always great although not as diverse as other restaurants of this caliber. Service has always been good, the ambience is chill and you can't beat the view/location! Casual dress code too!
The ambience is great. Service was incredible. Very attentive and knowledgeable. Steven was our waiter.
Food was cold, not even warm when delivered to table. Seemed like it had been sitting in a window under a heat lamp until someone ran it. Portion was also small.
The food was delicious!
Food was great for what we ordered. We got seated right away with a reservation. Our server was great she came at the right times. she also suggested a few things on the menu that she liked. It was a bit noisy of a restaurant and we sat outside it felt like everyone was trying to be louder then the next.... The view was amazing! I would definitely request a outside seating on the far side with ocean view!
We had a great time! We had a group of 10 and we were well taken care of. Great service and delicious food. View was amazing! Definitely a jewel within getting The Jewel (La Jolla). Thanks and we will be back!
I celebrated my birthday at Dukes with brunch with 6 friends. Our reservation was for 11:30 am. I didn’t realize Duke’s offers breakfast up to 12, and would have loved to see that menu, but was not offered it. The lunch menu has great appetizers, but a limited entree list. The service was fantastic, with a special shout out to Britney for her attentive service. Duke’s has a relaxing atmosphere with ocean views and an island vibe, that fits well with either a casual dining experience or a special occasion.
We liked the ambience out on the deck, with a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and bluffs to the North. The Eggs Benedict that we had were not super. They were a bit bland and without any particular flair. I preferred the regular eggs benedict to the Crab cake benedict, which, in my opinion, had an unpleasant spicing to it. Our guest had the Breakfast Eggs, which were ok. Neither of the gals liked the potatoes. I thought they were okay. Kona coffee isn't our favorite--it's got kind of a sour taste to it, which we don't really like. So, all in all, it was a mixed bag. We liked the view, but the food was so so.
Loved the music with the view. Worth a visit. Food was tasty.
Must go!!! We are at Dukes 6 times in 4 days! Breakfast is just as delicious as dinner ! Great service !
The best experience ever! The food was excellent and the service even better! Our server Justin took so much time making sure our table’s food allergies were accommodated. He went above and beyond. The manager also came to our table to be sure we were comfortable with the menu choices. This was a wonderful ending to our weekend! Thank you Duke’s!!
Food was amazing but service even better!!! Great experience.
Ambiance made the difference - great ocean view, lighting, etc. Food was very good, just not quite a 5 and service wask OK, but could have been more attentive.
Great place for lunch. Make reservations it gets busy! Reasonable prices, very good food.
Love the ocean view from the patio, however, it tends to be quite noisy. The food was fresh, but very bland for the price you pay. I guess you are paying for location. Customer service was good!
The food taste was fantastic! ONLY thing I wish is that there was more variety, especially for vegan / vegetarian. Other than that, will surely return for a delicious meal and beautiful view!
Long wait for food even though restaurant was not crowded. Hair came in my napkin with my silverware. Order came out wrong and was then mistakenly charged extra to correct it. Temperature inside the restaurant was way too cold as was the food. Otherwise a wonderful experience.
Extraordinary experience during V-Day, very affordable considering a fixed menu with three courses and great selection of delicious choices. Appetizers consisted of coconut shrimp and amazing Korean sticky ribs. Sizes were very nice. For entrees Seared Ahi with substituted mashed potatoes was to die for and the sirloin was a nice portion size and didn’t sit heavy. Also had drinks which were very good and strong, definitely good amount of alcohol content on the drinks, plus Our waiter Travis made it a great night to remember. The view and ambiance coming from the patio is excellent with occasional sea lion noises adding in to the experience. Highly recommend for higher end Hawaiian fusion cuisine.
Excellent food and service. Location was the best!
Went to Dukes for Valentines day and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and experience. The staff was pleasant and the food was very good. I would recommend this place.
Our server (Travis) was friendly and helpful and the food was great. I'd probably give it 5 stars, but we had to wait 10 minutes even though we had a reservation (and were on time), and we were seated at an outdoor table in a cold, dark corner. No heat lamp or light nearby, though all of the other tables had them. It was difficult to read the menu, the ambiance was terrible, and we were very cold. I would have asked to move, but the place was packed and we were hungry.
Great restaurant! We went during lunch for Valentines Day, our server Ciara was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The service was quick and the food was great, cooked to perfection. the sashimi was so fresh and delicious and the steak and fries were cook as desired.
Had Valentine’s Day breakfast here and loved it. Great service, food and the view: wow! Can’t wait to try lunch and dinner.
