Duke's La Jolla
You don’t need to cross the Pacific to get a taste of Hawaii. Duke’s La Jolla is San Diego’s island-inspired home, honoring the Ambassador of Aloha, Duke Kahanamoku, with coastal cuisine of Hawaii, craft cocktails and a genuine spirit of aloha. It’s the same authentic hospitality and panoramic ocean view that you’ll find at all of the California and Hawaii Duke’s restaurants, paying tribute to the Duke and welcoming you to celebrate life like the legend himself.

The view was spectacular, so hard to concentrate on the food, but it was good!
Not bad, not great. Rib appetizer was dry. Poke tacos good. Burger was good. Service was attentive, but not exactly friendly. Not sure I'd go back for anything particular.
Great food and fun atmosphere. We will be coming back again. A great backdrop for a beautiful evening dinner on the beach.
Book early to get the outside
Service excellent!!! Food was ok.
The food was average. Our waitress was super nice but not very attentive.
In addition- we went there specifically for the view and there was a tarp that covered the patio for warmth (it was still very cold) and the view was non-existant even on a sunny day.
Amazing food! Great atmosphere. A must go to in San Diego
Nice place, great view. Will definitely come back. .
Great food..great service…great drinks….incredible view….what more could you ask for!
Consistently delicious Mai Tai’s, beautiful ocean view, friendly staff and fish menu items are always fresh and delectable!
Everything was absolutely amazing ... Crab wontons, Ahi, and the Aloha Pie! Each one insanely delicious, but somehow the wonton appetizer stole the show
Great place for anniversary lunch! Perfect service and meal was delicious!
Made reservations in advance to take out of town family and requested outdoor seating with a view. We were seated on the lower level with a plastic covering the ocean view and was not notified that optional upstairs seating that had unobstructed view was available and open. The food was mediocre and much like diner food. Our group had the Loco Moco, Chicken and Ribs, Breakfast Burrito and a couple of kids items. The food quality without the view was certainly not worth it. Aside from this, the staff had a few mistakes with our order, one having given us a wrong drink item and 2nd completely missed the request to have the sauce on the side. After our meal, one of the staff mentioned that the upstairs dining are is open for walk in patrons only while the downstairs are for reservations. It was pretty disappointing especially if you planned on dining with the ocean view.
Duke’s La Jolla is always wonderful and today was no exception. Our server Luke was amazing ! We started with the coconut shrimp appetizer and I had the pancakes . My hubby had the nachos and they were amazing.
The Mai Tais were great .
Amazing COVID protocols and we choose to seat outside which seemed even safer. Tables were distanced and masks while not seated was enforced.
If you are looking for a great brunch with a wonderful view this is it.
Thanks again to Luke for making our brunch so lovely.
The food was outstanding! And the service was excellent- Alan took good care of us 😎
It was disappointing. Made reservations and did not get an outside seating to enjoy the ambience. The food was OK but not worth the price.
Awesome ambience. We've lived in La Jolla for the last few years and finally got around to trying Duke's on the New Year. Service was exceptional and staff was very friendly! The food was great, loco moco meat was good and the Macnut pancakes were awesome. Breakfast burrito was a little hard to eat, but still good. Everything was a great experience, just a little pricey compared to what we eat when we go to Hawaii. Drinks are SO cute and to die for, will be coming back to try the other options they have!! Mahalo!
Came here for NYE dinner with our little one. Ended our meals with a hula pie. Sean was an amazing server! Mahalo!
Real tasty and unique. Unfortunately appetizer and entrees came within 5 minutes of each other but otherwise really good all around.
We love the food here!
The staff was friendly and amazing.
We had an amazing experience at Duke’s…AS ALWAYS! Food was amazing, drinks were perfect, and service was great! I have nothing bad to say about our experience at Dukes!
Great experience. Perfect location. Awesome views. Food was great, got us in ahead of our reserved time.
Good food. Good service. Wish the curtain was up so I could see ocean better.
Hospitality desk missed Aloha spirit; a trio of definitely hostile in working with us coming a bit earlier than our reservation - which was quite early in the evening already! Noticed a fair amount of staff, but only a few 'serious' workers. Food service was too slow and the fish taco's were a disappointment. Even though this is not my first time at the restaurant, I would be inclined to try others first.
Overpriced despite decent portions. Service was very good and nice to have covered patio with heat lamps. Coconut shrimp was recommended but sadly bland.
Our waiter was most charming and made us feel most welcome.
The food is amazing, the view is breath taking
fast attentive service great view and tasty food
Food was tasty and came out fast! Fantastic view, even from inside.
The bartender at the restaurant upstairs was amazing! Great drinks!
Restaurant is not following San Diego County Health Department Covid guidelines. Patrons beware.
Our server, Pasha was outstanding. Thank you! Food was delish..the MahiMahi with the Buerre Blanc sauce- fantastic. It was raining out, but outdoor patio was fully enclosed w sww thru heavy plastic..it was nice and warm with heaters and low noise level.
Christmas Eve dinner. Was excellent
We had family dinner reservations recently, and it was a night I wish to forget. The food was average at best and the ambiance was lacking. We have eaten for over ten years at Jake's in Del Mar, and it's always a great and memorable experience. We were told to try Dukes as they are owned by the same company. Big mistake.
Anyway, it's just one dinner, but with all the adventurous and delicious dinning available in the La Jolla area, I hate to waste an experience. Never again Dukes.
Service was superb. Even though the weather was tenuous and supposed to rain, we sat outside under the overhang and it was fine. You could still see the ocean.I had the chicken and ribs combo. The ribs were outstanding but the chicken on the skewers seemed dry and over cooked.
The food and service were excellent! Jonathan is an asset to the business!
Food is amazing
Ambiance and location were great. Food was average at best.
