Duke's La Jolla
Great view from our table. Server was very attentive and friendly. Food was tasty apart from the mash that had horseradish in it. This left an unpleasant aftertaste every time we ate some. Apart from that we would definitely recommend.
Waiting for a table for more than 15 minutes when we had a reservation is unacceptable to me. We would have ad to wait more than 30 minutes to be seated outside, even with a reservation requesting for outside seating.
Great views. Great service. The food was just ok. I will try something else next time.
Server was really nice
Food was just ok
Not as good as Duke’s Hawaii. We were rushed. Out in an hour. Prime Sirloin was tough and chewy ate two bites couldn’t finish it. Broccolini was very stringy and chewy. Gluten free options weren’t really. Graham crackers are not gluten free.
So so, won’t be back. Too pricy for not being able to eat most of it.
Had the Ahi steak-always good but last night was excellent. And of course Hula Pie. Awesome as always.
Great food and better service. The grilled fish was to die for. You can't get a bad meal at Duke's!
Food was just ok. Beautiful location but not much to see if you’re seated indoors.
I did not like the sauce and the portion was to small for the money.
Service was awesome!!! Best waiter ever!!! Would recommend for anyone in the San Diego area!
We had to ask for some things more than once and she never refilled our drink unless we asked. For how much the food cost I would expect better service
Asked for an ocean view table for my birthday and I didnt get one. There was one available but I was told it was being reserved for a party of 6. There eventually were only 2 people sitting at it (we were a party of 4). I understand it was raining and they closed half of the balcony, but I wish I could have had a better view.
Our server was excellent. The complimentary hula pie was nice.
Delicious swordfish and beautiful presentation
The view was incredible! The food was pretty good. I've had better tuna but the service was great. I will be returning.
Great view, good ambiance and service, great appetizers, main courses good not great a little on the expensive side given what you get (fish tacos, burgers, ceviche, etc) but it’s one of the least expensive options in the area
My server was not kind
starters were pretty good (had shrimp cocktail and calamari). The entrees were not. The sticky rice in the steamed fish dish was bland, mushy, yet not cooked through. Not sure how you can do that. The shrimp in the seafood bowl was overcooked, had a funny taste, and the sauce was salty. The hamburger was not bad.
It was low 50s in the evening and they had the front door open and there was a breeze through the restaurant. It was cold and we all had our jackets on during dinner. We asked to have the doors closed, but they only closed one set.
Overall, it was disappointing for the price paid (average entree was $30) so for 9 people it was over $350 with only 1 glass of wine, 3 appetizers and no dessert.
Waited almost an hour for our appetizers and came to find out our waitress forgot to put the order in. She said our entrees were ready and she could keep them under the heat lamp until our appetizers were ready. Seriously bad service. We declined to have our entrees kept warm under a heat lamp and insisted on freshly made entrees. Manager comped the appetizers as a consolation. Not much of a consolation since we also told them we were celebrating a 65th birthday. Not even a free dessert was given.
Everything was great! Our table was ready per our reservation. No wait time! Good service, good food. The view of La Jolla is incredible.
Fantastic view of Pacific combined with very reasonable prices for the loaction
Tenían buena actitud los meseros pero se tardaron muchísimo en taernos la comida.
Disastrous food service. Took an hour and a half for entrees and they were lukewarm and not correct. Server was trying but kitchen was failing. Too bad because I love this place.
Amazing food, drinks, dining, view and service! We absolutely loved it! Jonathan was kind, patient and his smile made the experience even better:)
Food was pretty good, interior decor modern and stylish. Service very solicitous.
Not for those who would prefer an intimate setting. The dining hall is huge and noisy and probably best suited to the young who like to have a fun time and see lots of their peers. The drinks are overpriced and the food is so-so. But our waiter was great so the restaurant gets an A for him. Otherwise, I’m sticking with smaller, quieter places, like Bistro du Marche or Nine-Ten or even George’s.
Duke's has surprisingly reasonable prices for such a great view and very good food and drink. Even in cool weather, you can enjoy the back patio's awesome view because they have a ton of heaters scattered about. Plus, my wife said their burger was one of the best she's ever had.
Overall i like the place is so pretty, but i made reservation one day before we go and asked for patio next to window seat in the note i left. Beside waiting 30 min for my table to get ready, they gave us the worst table in the patio next to the wall with no heater not comfortable at all. If you can’t take care of the request why would you even take a reservation!
Despite the long wait and the inconvenience table, the food was pretty good
Surprisingly good for brunch on Sunday...Paniolo Omelet was perfect...banana pancakes were tasty and the views of coast line under sunny sky was beautiful!
Food was above average. The acoustics were horrible. Décor was hard and angular, nothing to absorb sounds. All in all, average dining.
The atmosphere and decor are pleasing offering airy and relaxing experience. The food and drink menu is unique and delicious. The service was friendly and we especially appreciated our server, John.
Definitely a scenic experience! View was terrific from the outdoor terrace. For that reason they could serve pretty mediocre food. But our food was good! Only problem was that it took more than 40 minutes to arrive for some reason. Others arrived after us and served well before us which makes me think something happened and our order just didn’t get in. They did take a beer off the bill to compensate. Don’t miss the macadamia ice cream dessert which was awesome and decadent. Ask for three sporks and share.
My husband and I had a great experience here at Dukes. Everyone was very friendly, and the food/drinks were delicious. I would definitely recommend trying out Dukes to get that Aloha experience! Also, mahalo for making my husband feel special on his birthday!
Very nice and great food
Dukes employees make you feel welcome. Food presented well and tasty. Priced are higher at lunch than on previous visits. Incredible view.
Views are terrific.....food not so much!!
Great place for all kinds of get-togethers. Sat outside for a business/friend lunch and enjoyed the fish tacos. Moderate prices for a fantastic location in La Jolla after taking over and remodeling the supreme location. Similar to the Duke's in Hawaii. Food won't wow you, but service, menu selections and location will. Must do while visiting the San Diego coast.
It was really surprising to see that our table for nine the waiter brought us only one small serving of tasty rolls .......about five or six of them. When I asked for some more we were told by our very polite waiter that you had run out of them.
Our family of 12 went to Dukes on Christmas evening and had a wonderful time. The food and service were very pleasing!
