Restaurantes en Bridport

I was again excited to visit Tom’s restaurant whilst staying in Lyme Regis and again I was wowed by the dishes served in this unassuming restaurant overlooking the beautiful Lyme bay. I couldn’t resist the crab started again. A crispy outer ball of soft moist crab meat accompanied by a perfect amount of green leaves and a tasty paste. The monkfish tail was soft and buttery with a vibrant green dressing with tiny salad veg. Sensational! Definitely recommend the raspberry and chocolate cream desert. Delicious beyond words and so pretty. Hope it’s still on the menu when you visit. And to top it all the waiting staff are smiley, friendly and knowledgeable. See you again.

First of all the parking is confusing when trying to pay. The machine takes cash but not credit cards and you would need to download a specific parking app to pay by telephone, one that we didn’t have. However, if you go to the National Trust hut they will take your credit card and issue a receipt. Signing needs to be better as many people were confused. However as it is a National Trust car park you won’t get a ticket if you choose not to pay. I mention the above because staff within the Hive Cafe are unable to change notes for coins if you are seeking to pay by cash and don’t have any with you. Our reservation was for the top marquee and you have to register at the main restaurant desk and will be escorted to the top. There was only one person doing this so at times a queue built up with people waiting to be seated, fortunately is was a Monday and not too busy. We were seated at a front table with lovely views over the beach and sea, a really nice setting. Staff were excellent and attentive quickly taking our drinks order and giving us time to choose our food from the lunch menu. Whilst mainly seafood based there were other options including chicken. Both drinks and food arrived reasonably quickly and was of excellent quality, we both chose the king prawns. We did have to ask for a waste bucket but test was no problem. We would have liked a finger bowl or wet serviette as peeling prawns is messy but we weren’t given those and maybe that could be looked at. After our mains were cleared away we were offered deserts and can recommend the Dorset apple cake with was delicious. Overall a very pleasant lunch with good quality locally sourced ingredients and excellent service from all the staff were encountered.

Good food and service but you certainly pay a high price for the excellent location

Amazing food (seriously, try the Keralan fish curry). Quiet enough to have a conversation, but decent music in the background. Staff lovely. Really good value for money.
