Doe's Eat Place
The ambiance was amazing and my husband has been here for lunch a few times.
He knows I love tamales, so we came here for a weekend dinner.
The tamales were good, not great. The chili served with them tasted like canned chili.
The tuna appetizer was over cooked when we asked for rare.
The filet was ordered medium rare and was super raw in the middle.
The chicken Caesar ... omg I couldn’t eat the chicken. All I could taste was salt. Even my husband, who uses a lot of salt, was like holy cow!
His side salad was lettuce and 2 small pieces of tomato.
I’ll likely give this place one more chance, but found it terrible for my first visit :(
We were a group of 9, I wasn't expecting much. Doe's and our Server were FABULOUS! All of our orders arrived at the same time and ALL FOOD WAS HOT & COOKED TO PERFECTION! WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!
Very consistent restaurant on food quality and service. Best steaks in Baton Rouge ~ non contest. Doesn't have the ambiance of Ruth Chris but steaks are better and in a more relaxed atmosphere.
John, our server, was on top of his game. Our food was hot and the steaks were cooked to perfection! And the tamales...🤩!!
Great as always
Very nice casual restaurant. Waitress was attentive but not overly so. Food came out very quickly and steak was cooked perfectly.
Great steak, awesome service, good value.
We have ate here several times in the past, first time since covid started.
Felt safe and spacing was good.
Loved the food but the restaurant was so cold it was actually uncomfortable for everyone at our table.
Excellent service and good food. My wife and I enjoyed the atmosphere.
It was great!
I really had high hopes for the steak here. We got a filet and a ribeye so we could try both. They were just okay Filet was better than ribeye. I have had much better steaks. I really wanted to add this to my regular monthly steak place but husband said take it off our list. He said all his food was bland(he likes bland food so for him to say bland it was bad.) The tamales were very good I will go back and order those to go. For the price I was hoping steak would be better. We got the tamales, filet, ribeye, mac N cheese, and spinach. Our server was great no complaints there. The host was also great.
For the price, I thought it would be a u we experience. The servers are in cutoff jeans and LSU tshirts. The tamales were good. The steak was raw. Had to get it back on the grill. The tuna steak was dry. The shrimp was bland. The filet was ok, but not good enough to go back or recommend.
We shared a 2lb ribeye cooked medium rare and found it to be a bit tough to cut. There were lots of ligaments in the meat. The flavor was good. We also enjoyed the tamale appetizer. I would not get a 2 pound ribeye again
Doe’s is our favorite go-to place. Food is always great, the people are friendly and the old fashions are the best. Kudos to George—-he’s da man!
Great variety of steaks:/cuts. The atmosphere is very casual ; it can be romantic or family friendly.
The food was excellent. Service was helpful and quick.
Serving only large steaks seems like a bad idea. Won’t be back
Always a great time at Doe’s. Great food, service, and feeling while you are there.
The food is delicious!! The service is really good also. The atmosphere is very casual.
Excellent. I have been to the original Doe’s in Greenville Mississippi as well as three of the other locations and this one is by far the best. Well no one can perfectly replicate the flavor of the steak from the original Doe’s because of the oven they cook with, this one by far come to the closest. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a wonderful flavor. There drop rules are to die for, their fries and other sides were spot on an excellent, and their tamales were outstanding.
The staff was outstanding, the service was outstanding, and their friendliness was very welcoming. The restaurant is very well put together, cute, queen, I’m very much in the spirit of the original only the floors are even, you don’t have to walk through the kitchen to get to the restaurant, and it’s much more modern :-)
We had a couple of their signature drinks to you and they were also outstanding. Highly recommended, you can’t find better if you’re looking for a steak anywhere in Louisiana.
WE ALWAYS ASK FOR MARY TO BE OUR SERVER AND AS ALWAYS WE WERE TREATED WONDERFULLY. WE DINED WITH TWO FROIENDS WHO HAD NEVER BEEN TO DOE'S AND THEY LOVED IT AND SAID THEY WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK.
i HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING THE 2 1/2 LB. PORTERHOUSE STEAK AND MY WIFE EATS THE FILET SIDE AND I EAT THE STRIP SIDE. THAT WAY WE BOTH GET WHAT WE WANT AND WITH THAT STEAK DOE'S WILL COOK EACH SIDE TO INDIVIUAL TASTE.
THE HOUSE SALAD IS EXCELLENT AND THE MIXED DRINKS ARE WONDERFUL.
A FUN AND DELICIOUS MEAL EVERYTIME WE GO.
The service was impeccable, top notch!
Upon entering the restaurant we were approached with a friendly smile.
I was taken a back by all the taxidermy hanging on the walls.
The food was average, nothing to write home about. I ordered the blacken chicken and mac-n-cheese. The chicken was to salty. The Macaroni and cheese was very bland.
My date ordered the Tuna steak and ask it to be prepared med well. It arrived not really cooked. Although he enjoyed the grilled veggies which accompanied his meal...unfortunately I will be returning.
It was my birthday. I had noted it on the online reservation but it wasn’t brought up by the waitress or hostess
Great streaks! Great service! Great drinks! Great Staff!
Service was excellent and the food and drinks also excellent
VERY large cuts of meat. Make sure you are hungry.
We arrived, was met with a friendly smile an DC was given a wonderful table.
The tamales was awesome but when we received the steaks. Man.. oh my that was the best looking and best tasting we had ever had and may I add the biggest. Cooked perfectly the way we asked. Awesomeness abounds at this place. Great Job guys and thanks!
Service was great. Love the casual atmosphere. Tamales are amazing.
We love Doe’s our service was great and un-rushed. George was in the kitchen tonight and sent out two perfectly cooked steaks a petite filet and a 2 pound porterhouse. Our drinks were expertly prepared and my perfect rye Manhattan was spot on and perfectly named. Another great meal and experience at Doe’s.
We ordered a porterhouse. Steak was not a good cut, tough and a little chewy. I ordered the filet cooked medium and it was closer to well.
PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC, THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SPOTS FOR LUNCH.
THIS WAS MY FIRST TRIP SINCE THEN WITH A FRIEND OF MINE, AND UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING, NOT BAD, BUT DISAPPOINTING.
I ORDERED A SHRIMP PO-BOY AND WHEN I RECEIVED IT, THERE WERE THREE SMALL SHRIMP ON EACH HALF, WHICH BARELY COVERED HALF OF THE BREAD.
FORTUNATELY THE SERVER DID RETRIEVE MORE SHRIMP, AND I ENDED UP WITH WHAT I THOUGHT I WOULD RECEIVE ON THE FIRST TRY. GOOD, BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE PAST VISITS. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE THERE WILL SEE THIS REVIEW AND CHECK ON THE KITCHEN STAFF TO RESOLVE THIS. I REALLY REALLY LIKED THIS PLACE IN THE PAST AND WOULD LIKE TO RETURN IF THE QUALITY PROBLEMS ARE RESOLVED.
We have not been out to eat in a while due to the Covid situation..
We wanted to celebrate my birthday at a nice restaurant and had not been to Does in a while so we thought it would be the perfect place to go . It surely did not disappoint! The food was excellent, just like we remembered!
Was quite disappointed for the price.
Steak was good, but sides were not.
Tamales were great.
French fries came out as dried out crusty things. They did bring us a fresh plate after complaint.
We got salad with the house vinagrette, which was more like a vinegar salad.
Saving grace was the the creamed spinach and tamales.
Service wasn't bad, but for the price of the meal, definitely should have been more attentive.
And they put this grease/juice on the plate that tastes like the remnants out of an old cast iron skillet. This was the second time we went (first was at lunch and had hamburger steak) and they did this before. It's real gross, or to our whole table it was. Somebody must like it.
Will be back for lunch at some point (they have a lot more menu items available), but definitely not dinner.
It’s was my birthday and it was perfect quiet night ❤️
Excellent service and excellent food
Would recommend to everyone!
Great place to celebrate a special occasion!
steaks are best in baton rouge. disappointed in making reservation 4 weeks out on open table app and get stuck in the bar instead of the main dining room. this is the second time this has happened at does. will not usr open table app for reservations. seems like its only for bad seating reservations. make reservations 4 weeks in advance and cant be seated un main dinning room after spending $300 each time . very disappointed.
The steaks simply cannot be beat. Great drinks and appetizers too.
