About the restaurant
Please note that we are not offering Restaurant Week at our DC location.

Located at 914 14th Street SE in Washington, DC.

Caruso’s Grocery is modeled after the classic, Italian-American "red sauce" joint. You know the one: red banquettes, a killer chicken parmesan, Sinatra pouring through the speakers. If you’re looking for modern interpretations of a chef's take on the classics, you won’t find them here.

A joint venture from Neighborhood Restaurant Group and Partner Matthew Adler.

Everything about the experience was excellent! The food was amazing, as always, and the service staff were attentive and fun. This is one of the best restaurants in DC, and I love that it’s not pretentious or unapproachable. I highly recommend it!

The food was delicious. We shared lamb shank pallou and some vegetable side orders along with a celebratory mocktail. We were very pleased with the service, the food and the ambiance. We got there early but as people came in, it became very noisy and the tables were close, so it was hard to hear each other.

Using the finest ingredients available, our constantly evolving menu provides an experience that is unique to Sushiko. Our approach focuses on tradition as an art form instead of a rule book. To ensure a truly first-class dinning experience, executive chef Piter Tjan keep his eyes and minds open to new ingredients and techniques, without losing sight of the preparation and showmanship at the soul of japanese tradition.

Sushiko is a great restaurant for a casual get together but not exactly what one expects at one of DC's top sushi restaurants. Little things like low/medium quality wooden chopsticks that splinter when split, the waiter forgetting to read the specials out and forgetting to bring napkins to the table, bringing the food out in a strange sequence with several dishes lumped together crowding the table, cleaning person not cleaning the table properly in between courses, a lot of noise being generated by the restaurant staff, and initially not accommodating a strong seating preference due to a medical condition for my guest that I had included with reservation request despite more than adequate space to be able to do so were blemishes on the experience. The food was a solid 7/10. The toro was very good (but not excellent) as was the mussel miso. The rainbow roll was so so. There was no low sodium option for soy sauce on the table.
