A longtime Vallarta favorite, Austrian owner Andreas Rupprechter named the place after his compatriot Maximilian and former emperor of Mexico, perhaps he himself would have loved to dine here, choosing Wienerschnitzel with potatoes and Austrian salad as his ideal dish. Gastronomy in Puerto Vallarta has gone up a notch, that is why our menu is constantly being renewed, although it is good to know that some things do not change, and for a dozen years we have been able to maintain the satisfaction of our favorite dishes. So, whether dining outdoors surrounded by unparalleled people or in an intimate dinner, this is the place to be in Vienna, with the warm weather of Puerto Vallarta.

We were a little worried now that Andres sold the restaurant and this was our first visit since he did. Our favorite server, Luis, is still there and gave us a warm welcome as always. He’s the best. The food is every bit as good as it always has been—Caesar salads, red cabbage soup, crab cakes, spanikopita, and scallops were all incredibly good. Decor has been changed, fresh white paint honestly took away some of the place’s character but the new look is fresh and welcoming. Overall, we’ll miss seeing the former owner but Kaiser is in good hands with the new manager, David, and Luis.

Azafran is a delightful restaurant with a seasonal menu in addition to their a la carte. We opted for the summer tasting menu with three course all with paired wines. They were all delicious and superbly paired with the wines. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone interested in great food and excellent service.

Food was a brand new experience us and the starter bread app was delicious. The water cups are very tiny so I felt like I was bugging the waiter for water every 2 minutes. The seating is very strange with not much to look at but the seats themselves were comfortable and stable.

We love zicatela! The food is always delicious and service is great. The view is stunning, being right on the ocean. I felt a little basic trying the burger—but it was so good! The mushroom has a kick to it that I need to figure out how to recreate. Truly delicious! As always, Tiradito and guac are so good!

During the low season (from July 23rd to October 13th), we operate with 2 service times: 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, and we close at 4:00 PM.

High season hours (starting October 15th) will be 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM, with closing time at 5:00 PM.

To make a reservation, the system requires a non-refundable prepayment of $120 pesos per person for round-trip boat transportation. This amount is not refundable in case of cancellations or no-shows. If you hike in or arrive by your own boat, this payment will serve as a deposit and will be deducted from your bill on the day of your visit.

Please note; our weather and waves can change on a moment's notice. We may have to cancel the water taxi and close the restaurant if the waves are too high. This only happens occasionally but if we do you will receive a text on the phone number you leave with open table.

This is one of our favorite restaurant experiences in the world. Every time we come to Puerto Vallarta, we come to Ocean Grill. The only way to get here is by boat. The views are spectacular (especially from the bathroom!) and the drinks and food are fresh and delicious. One of the best meals you’ll have in PV. Do not skip it! It’s a meal to remember.
