I have been to mofo twice in the last two weeks and was absolutely delighted. The food was excellent and I had the same server both times who was knowledgeable, competent and efficient. I did not feel it all rushed and he very much knew the menu and the wines. One of my new favorite places.!

Uptown
About the restaurant
Shaya restaurant marries Israeli staples with Southern flavors and modern techniques, striking a balance between innovation and tradition. Shaya approaches Israeli cuisine as a grand mosaic, drawing influence and inspiration from North Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Turkey and Greece. The contemporary menu reflects the ongoing evolution of Israeli food and celebrates the abundance of Louisiana. Shaya highlights seasonal, responsibly- and locally-sourced ingredients.

The wood-fire oven is central to both the menu and the dining experience, from the incredible homemade, wood-fired pita to vegetable-centric small plates and heartier entrees. Many of the dishes on the diverse menu are meant to be shared and enjoyed throughout many courses.

We did wait a good length of time for our food. But the waiter, Tim, was excellent and brought us some bread and our drinks very quickly. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and thought the food was very good. It was rather noisy, but typical for New Orleans I think.

Madisonville
About the restaurant
In 1979, after over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Joe Impastato opened Impastato’s in Metaire. Only 5 years before, his brother Sal opened Sal and Judy’s in Lacombe. Now the family of restaurants extends to Madisonville with the opening of Impastato Cellars on September 5, 2013. The Impastato family decided to bring the same traditional, authentic Italian cuisine to the table on the Northshore along with the old world ambiance of a 600 square foot wine cellar featuring over 400 labels, in addition to a wide variety of spirits and craft beers.

Our waitress was outstanding and answered all questions very well. Food was excellent, we had the 5 course meal and were pleased that we could box each course, if necessary. Will not have the 5 course again because it was too much food to eat at one sitting.
