Gastro Pub
Brighton
About the restaurant
Panoramic sea views on Kemptown seafront. This owner run bistro pub offers home cooked food and wonderful Sunday lunches. Friendly, informal service in a beautiful historic building located midway between the pier and the marina. The Bristol is a sophisticated venue that welcomes well behaved dogs and children aged 12 and over for lunch. The evenings are reserved for the grown ups. Formerly The Bristol Hotel, our art deco bar still retains it's classic ambience to make the most of the sea views and offers guests something that little bit special.

We booked a table with a nice view out to sea. On arrival, we received a very friendly welcome. We ordered drinks and were shown to our table and the drinks brought over. Having enjoyed most of our pre-dinner drinks, we ordered food. My wife had the chicken and I had lamb shank, although I nearly went for the beef dijon on the specials menu, but eventually chose the lamb. The food arrived and we were pleased with it. The chicken was not over-cooked (as it often can be), and the fries were good. The lamb shank came with green beans and mash. Nicely cooked. Beans not over-done, lamb just right. I had a large malbec with my main, which was good. We shared a lemon & lime pousett for dessert. Very nice. I had some doubts when I booked it, but we were very pleased. Would use this restaurant again.

Hove
About the restaurant
The excitement and anticipation that comes with growing vegetables, and creating innovative plates is translated to our guests through our menu.

The plant to plate narrative is at the centre of what we do; our chefs show our local organic farmers a nod of respect towards the passion and patience required to grow a plant, in each dish they create. The seasons dictate our menu, with passion, flavour and creativity at the heart of the operation.

This passion flows through our love of organic, and low intervention wines from small producers, carefully selected and paired with our food.

Our very own indoor vertical farm is our most recent dedication to sustainable practices, allowing us to grow our own bespoke exotic herbs and aromatics for our hyper-seasonal food and cocktail menus, with zero food miles and incomparable flavour.

About the restaurant
There’s a saying in Japan, ‘Ichi-go ichi-e,’ which means, every moment is one-of-a-kind and something to be treasured. This is the philosophy of our neighbourhood restaurant FUMI, located in the centre of Brighton.

A simple Japanese inspired menu driven by the seasons, our moods and by whatever is fresh and exciting in the moment.

At FUMI, we source all our produce, meats and fish from small, local suppliers. Indian
Brighton
About the restaurant
Think lavish three-course Indian feasts, killer craft beers from local Sussex breweries and spiced cocktails – all set in a cosy, colourful, independently run venue near Brighton beach, which has been listed as a 'local gem' in every edition of the Good Food Guide since 2014. Featuring a 70-seat, split-level dining space, the restaurant is decked out with exposed brick walls, wooden tables and vintage Indian design touches.

Curry Leaf Cafe's culinary heart lies in South India, focusing on fragrant curries, crisp-fried street food and chargrilled tandoor dishes, all served 'sharing style' for the table to enjoy. Around half the menu is vegan, and there's a wide range of gluten-free dishes on offer. While the flavours are authentic, you'll find a few contemporary twists – including a range of loaded naans at lunchtime, sold alongside the always popular thali platters (now available until 6:30pm daily).

This is Indian cafe culture, Brighton style.

Thanks for a lovely thali lunch for the family. My only complaintis you could have made it clearer which beer was free for the Dad's on Fathers day. Thali was fantastic.

About the restaurant
Dine in our blossom dining room or at our sushi cocktail bar

Our mission is to provide pure, plant-powered meals that are good for your body. Our approach is knowledgeable, playful, and engaging. We offer a unique opportunity to experience a different way of eating vegetables and discover new flavours and textures. Talented chefs behind Food For Friends restaurant (established in 1981 as Brighton’s first vegetarian restaurant), Botanique (Hove’s exclusive plant based restaurant) and Wolfox Coffee have put together their experience and knowledge to bring you this new Asian inspired plant based concept.

The result is a creative and colourful menu which shows organic plant-based food can lead to surprising, healthy and mindful new eating experiences. We believe in an upgraded casual dining experience in beautiful light-filled spaces dedicated to natural plant-based food and organic wines.

We’ve been fans of kusaki since you opened. Food consistently tasty imaginative and good value for a ‘high end’ style of restaurant. I asked for a knife as it was impossible to transfer chewy shiitake mushrooms from Bowl to mouth without making a mess. Chopsticks were not helpful for this particular dish! But so good. Not a drop of food left ❤️

Nice and compact menu, with many shared ingredients, cooked really nicely. Surprised to get a table (actually seats overlooking the cooking) at a couple of days notice, but the restaurant was busy after 19:40 which is good - usd it or lose it, and if you live locally you should definitely not want yo lose it. Bargain midweek offer advertised as well.
