A modern pub serving a frequently changing menu, available in our dining room, bar, and outside ledges. It's not fine dining, nor is it trying to be. We cook in a way that we as cooks like to eat, so don’t be afraid to share. If you want to pop in for a burger and a pint, feel free to grab any available space in the bar or outside. We accept bookings for tables of up to six people in the dining room.It can be loud and slightly chaotic; at night it is dark. We turn tables because we need to in order to survive and pay the people that make it work, so please don’t be offended if we ask you to wait a moment for your table. The food is great and is the star of the show. For me, the place verges on pretentious as far as the hipster vibe is concerned. You just want a bit more attention to detail. Our server was lovely, but knowledge of the menu could be better for a meal of this calibre. You want to feel a bit better taken care of when you spend quite a lot on a special meal. I find the concept of small plates slightly frustrating, as sometimes you want a full meal to yourself; but they do what they do very well - and the flavours across the board were great.

Another great Sunday at The Good Reader. Whole family there this time - the mussels were so good my kid drank the jus with a straw. Such a lovely place.
