Best Contemporary Indian Restaurants in Childs Hill

We were traveling to London from the US and on this evening we were seeking good Indian food that is not the commercial Indian we are used to in the US. We chose Manthan for its unique menu. We loved the food and the atmosphere. Great food and outstanding service.

Lovely pre theatre menu with good vegetarian options. Staff were really helpful and friendly dealing with our slightly disorganised and large group. Great food and cocktails.

The restaurant had just another 2 tables occupied but then again it was a lunch service. We ordered a la carte and personally I thought that the portions were slightly on the smaller side. The food was really tasty but the tadka dal was watery and awful. I did mention this to the server. I will try out Atul’s other two restaurants in Marlow.

Food was creatively prepared, with great skill demonstrated in balancing subtle yet complex flavors. Outstanding attentive and friendly service. Will definitely be one of our "go to" Indian places in London. Highly recommend.

We were expecting to eat downstairs, but downstairs was closed that night, so we tried upstairs, and we’re glad we did. Delicious and different curries and salad on the street food menu. Upstairs or down, there’s no wrong choice at Roti Chai.
