Marvee's Food Shop is a playful, soulful nod to the classic Caribbean takeaway. Named after his mother, Marveline (affectionately known as Marvee), Chef Dom Taylor (Winner of Five Star Kitchen and owner of sold-out fine dining pop-up The Good Front Room at the Langham Hotel) has developed this concept to draw on the sounds, smells and stories of his childhood and heritage, offering comforting recipes cooked by Taylor's family, or remembered from childhood trips to Jamaica.Located in the heart of Notting Hill, just off world-famous Portobello Road & Market, a stone's throw from Ladbroke Grove station. Chef Roger Shakes previously head chef at ‘Mango Room’ in Camden Town where he cooked for stars, heavyweights and luminaries from around the globe.Originally from Westmoreland, Jamaica, Roger came to London in 1999 where his first employment in a restaurant was washing plates. Learning from the chefs around him and combining this with the culinary skills passed down from his grandparents, he soon realised his talent for food and the joy of feeding others. Rising to become head chef at ‘Mango Rooms’ he has spent decades perfecting Jamaican classics such as Curry Goat and Jerk Chicken which now sit alongside new favourites such as his special Pork Ribs and vibrant Vegan Curry. I saw this restaurant on social media, and had to try it. I havent eaten alot of caribbean food but the jerk chicken was the best i´ve eaten. Sadly i didnt have the time to fully enjoy everything on the meny as I would since i was a pressed timetable. But waiter was really nice, food was really nice so I really will come here again next time i come from Sweden.
