Our story is like many others. Nine years ago, we came to America with two bags of luggage and two big dreams. The first and biggest dream was to start a family. And we did. We now have three beautiful children, a four year old girl, a six year old boy and a new baby. Without doubt, we are blessed.Our second dream was to introduce Connecticut to our Romanian culture and cuisine. Hence, we came up with the idea of Cafe Transilvania. We owned Cafe Transilvania for many years which was a success, which is why we decided to open Transilvania Restaurant and bar.

Abate Pizza started in 1956 by its founder Joseph N. Abate, also know as "pop" to his family. He opened his first pizzeria on Whalley Avenue and called it Luigi's, after his father. He set out to make the perfect pizza, experimenting with the best Italian products and succeeded with a pizza everyone loved.As we know, behind every successful man is good women and her name is Rose, Joe's wife. Rose supported and worked with Joe while rising their seven children. Through the years, they owned and operated several successful pizzeria, along with their children.Joe eventually retired and handed the reins over to his son Louis. He ran the family business for several years before venturing off to open the first Abate Pizza restaurant in New Haven's Little Italy on Wooster Street.
