- AAdamVIPChicago / Illinois •75 reviews5.0Dined on Jul 5, 2025Our party of six dropped in for a weekday lunch and left already planning a return. A few friends normally shy away from tabletop BBQ, so the option to switch to individual hot-pot burners was a big win. Everyone could customize spice levels and ingredients without compromise. Stand-outs Broths: miso, spicy mala, and the herbal house base were rich from the first ladle and only deepened as the meal went on. Proteins: bulgogi beef and marinated rib-eye disappeared fastest, with leaner chicken breast and shrimp earning plenty of praise from the macro-minded among us. Veggie & sauce bar: spotless and well-stocked all lunch long. Soft-serve finale: a fun surprise! The cold swirl was the perfect antidote to spicy broth and a toasty burner. Food hit the table almost immediately after we ordered on the tablet, and servers refilled plates before we ever had to flag them down. Meat quality was solid “middle-of-the-pack” for an AYCE spot—better than some, not as marbled as the ultra-premium buffets—and lunch pricing felt right in line with other all-you-can-eat hybrids. Plenty of on-site parking kept arrival stress-free. Room for improvement: Sharing one ordering tablet across a large table is awkward; a supplemental paper menu would make group ordering smoother. Bottom line: flavorful broths, quick service, soft-serve for the win, and enough variety to please BBQ devotees and hot-pot newcomers alike. We’ll be back soon—especially for that bulgogi beef!More infoMAAX Asian BBQ & Hot PotsPrice: Expensive• Asian• Arlington Heights•4.6
