We were driving through North Carolina on our way to Ohio and I googled barbecue. I came upon a Southern Living article that featured the most outstanding barbecue in North Carolina. The Pit was the number one choice and as it was on our way off the freeway we decided to try it. We couldn’t have been more pleased. Fried green tomatoes were off the chart awesome! Being a past resident of Texas, it compared to the best we’ve ever tasted! The catfish was delicious and barbecue sauces were amazing. We were able to purchase the sauces.
Fried okra and cabbage greens were fabulous, too. We were not able to sample the barbecue beef or pork because it was a Friday in Lent. They had plenty of options.
So glad we stopped. Well definitely return to try their brisket and pulled pork another time as we’re traveling through North Carolina. Thanks to the awesome staff, customer, service, and food. They will certainly be on our list. our server, Christina was very attentive and made our experience amazing. Oh, and if you are from the north, you can’t get good sweet tea and their tea was fantastic. Christina even packed us one for the road!
