CRAVE - LaSalle Plaza Ratings and Reviews
6 Canadians in for a bachelorette party. The restaurant was recommended by a friend who lives in Minneapolis. Service wasn’t the greatest, had to flag her down every time we needed something. Did not quality check the table. Not many of us enjoyed our meals. We were also told about the rewards program and told we would be given a round of free shots, although all of the shots were on our bill. Free brownie at the end was rock hard. Would not recommend.
Had an excellent time at Crave, service was wonderful and food amazing. Only Complaint would be that we had reservations and still had to wait for quite awhile. 30 minutes+ No pagers to call groups and they seemed unorganized at the Host/Hostess stand. They would wander around the groups of people looking for the party that was next, instead of paging or Loudly calling names. A lot of people waiting in the waiting area and also outside in the mall.
Crave is usually a go-to for us when we are celebrating out of town. We had sushi and friends had a steak and a poke bowl. Sushi was great but we had to ask for more soy...the other meals were just okay. Server was slow about getting drinks and kept confusing our orders of food and drinks. Manager stopped to ask how everything was and we said we could use another round of drinks. Instead of putting the order in then telling the server he sent the server over to retake the order. Ended up taking over 10 minutes just to get a fresh round of the same drinks we already had. The next morning, while at breakfast, we realized our credit card had not been returned to us after paying at Crave the night before. We live 3 hours away and needed to leave before the restaurant reopened for the evening. We had to cancel the CC and get a new one issued. Not the best Crave experience.
We ate at Crave mostly because its near the State Theatre where we were headed to see a show. The restaurant was packed with folks doing the same which accounts for the slow service. The manager stopped by several times to apologize which was a plus. Because our reservation was at 6:30, time wasn’t an issue. I ordered paella. The mussels were either over cooked or old, rubbery and tasteless. The andouille sausage was spicy and plenty of it, probably to make up for the absence of the advertised chicken. Shrimp was fine. The rice was more gummy than I’m used to in a paella. My date thought her salmon was fine, I thought it was over cooked. I’m sure we’ll choose another downtown restaurant next time we go to a show; plenty of better choices.
Our food was wonderful! :) But our waiter this time was not.
It's very convenient to the theaters on Hennepin Ave, so the wait staff should now how to get people going to the theater out in a timely manner, since that's the 1st question he asked. It didn't happen this time, but usually they are very good about it.
However, I will come back.
Terrific calamari and merlot to start. Shared the Godzilla sushi roll and crab topped filet with my husband. Perfect combination! Liked the mini dessert menu. Small sweets for a small price but the perfect amount to put the perfect finish on the meal. Perfect place to eat before the theater. Great attentive service that strives to give you a wonderful dinning experience with plenty of time to get to your show.
Another really good pre-theater meal. Came for the first time a month ago and had such a good experience we decided to return for dinner prior to going to the Orpheum. Second visit was as pleasant as the first - good food, reasonably priced wine by the glass and good service. The restaurant was considerably busier than a month ago so was a bit noisier but we could still converse comfortably. Our server Alex provided just the right amount of attention and made sure we got our food and checks in ample time to get to our show. Crave may become our go-to place for pre-theater dinners.
We went to Crave before a show. Although we had a 630 reservation, we didn't get a table until almost 7. Luckily we had found some spots at the bar prior to that table opening up so we just hung out there. The food was great, the service was as well. Just frustrating to not have a reservation honored when in a time crunch.
Although we had a reservation , we still had to wait 10-15 minutes beyond that time. Additionally, they were out of the wine we had ordered. First it was that there was only enough for 2 glasses, then it was that there actually was none at all. Not a great experience overall.
Disappointed that even though it was obvious my husband became very ill suddenly from the food or wine, nothing was done. We've been here many times before with no problems. Things happen but $100.00 down the tubes was a disappointment....not to mention the ruined evening for my husband.
Got to Crave at our reservation time (5:45) on a Thursday night. The host told us they were running a little behind on seating people. There were probably 30+ people waiting to be sat along side us in line. We weren’t sat at a table until 6:20. A full 35 minutes of waiting. To me that isn’t a little behind and I wish I would have been informed of just how long it would take. After we were sat we placed our drink order and it took another 20 minutes to get those, we even placed our food order before our drinks were delivered. I like Crave and have enjoyed eating there in the past but this was the WORST experience I have ever had. No one apologized for the wait for our table, no one apologized for the wait on our drinks and no one seemed to care that we were inconvenienced by Crave’s lack of organization. Hey Crave why take reservations if you aren’t going to follow them? Why not commmunicate just how long everything is going to take? This was the best example of poor customer service I have seen in a very long time. Kudos on being so crappy.
We dined here before attending a show next door at the State Theater. The bar was under staffed and after 30 minutes we still didn't have our cocktails, so we changed to a bottle of wine, which took another 15 minutes to be served. Our pasta dishes had been sitting before being served and were cold and dry, as well as bland and tasteless. To be fair, the Manager comped our wine, but it was too late to save this dinner from being one of the worst I've had in recent memory. After leaving a bad review on another website, my husband was contacted by Crave Management and asked to give them a 2nd chance. We will do so, but not at this location. It's unfortunate, as I had high hopes that a restaurant this convenient to the Theater would be a good choice for dinner.
Service was excellent! Our server got us to our show on time. Food was only so-so for the price. Tried their Sushi, and it was below average. Steaks were dry unless smothered with extras. Great location before a show, but dining experience was very average.
Restaurant was overbooked?? They were running behind on seating groups with reservations which worried us as we had a 8 pm show and had 630 reservations. Complimentary champagne was given while we waited. We were seated about 20 min late, but drinks, food came in timely manner with 10-15 min left to cross the street to the theater.
I eat at Crave in the Galleria and it's enjoyable, but this location was a madhouse! The noise level was deafening , and we couldn't wait to get out. Service was slow and confused, apparently another table had been added and it threw the waiters/servers off. Everyone was pleasant though.
