Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed as usual. This was our annual Christmas dinner and seeing the Christmas lights with our son and daughter in law. Excellent food. Service was good but not as good as usual. Wine tasting was fun and my son joined the wine club. Definitely will be back.
Dinner on a Friday evening in December was packed, as expected, but we checked in for our reservation and were seated within 10min. We had a bottle of the Old Vine Zin from our wine club membership, shared the pork belly tostadas for an appetizer, then my husband had the surf & turf special and I had the tenderloin medallions. All were delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was a little slow but it seemed to be due to the fact that waiters didn't seem to work in a specific zone, but had tables assigned to them all over the restaurant. The ambiance was wonderful as we had a table overlooking the Plaza lights which were beautiful as usual.
Didn’t really know what to expect! Our experience was awesome from start to finish
Our reservation time was perfect; the Food was very good; the spirts were extremely good and most of all our Waiter (Anthony) was outstanding. I will certainly make a return trip for this experience
As always the experience was enjoyable. The lunch special, shrimp and scallops, was tasty but was very short on the seafood. Our serving had only 3 shrimp and 2 scallops. That may have been the correct portion, but I felt it a bit lacking.
We will continue to Cooper's Hawk. We enjoy it very much.
Had dinner here and intended to taste and pick up our four bottles of wine but were closed when we got to it after dinner. We love this restaurant and always receive outstanding service. This time I chose the chicken madeira and , while it was the usual high quality we’re accustomed to, the Madeira sauce was a bit on the sweet and tangy side. Wasn’t what I expected and was a but disappointed but it will not keep us from returning. I’ll order something else next time. Highly recommend this restaurant!!
I'm very unhappy with your Kansas City winery. We've been members for about 4 years or so and have gone down to the Plaza every month to enjoy a night out with friends and have dinner. The last two times were very unpleasant times. At the tasting bar, we were about two minutes later than our group, and had stepped up to join the others who had just had their first pour for the tasting. A new guy, John, told us that we would have to wait for the rest of our group to finish their tasting before we would be waited on. He said it would mess up the flow. Well, one of the regulars told him to simply pour our first taste and we would be caught up. He didn't like it and gave us (our entire group of 7) dirty looks from then on leaning back on the wine racks behind him. And not once did he mention anything about the wines we were tasting. We complained to the manager and was told he would take care of it. So we went up to our table for dinner. Our server was wonderful but she had no control of what was about to be served to us. One of my group asked for the Enchiladas. I ordered Serf and Turf pork chop and shrimp. A few minutes later the server came over and told my friend that they didn't have anymore Enchiladas. So he ordered something else. It took about twenty minutes for our food to come out to us. By that time my pork chop was dry and vegetables were charred and a couple of the others food was cooling down. I don't know what has changed here but the food prep has fallen considerably. This is the second month in a row that our food was not worth eating. We have loved going to Coopers Hawk and eating and enjoying the wine but I am getting very cautious about eating there again. The same manager (poor guy) comped our meal after yet another complaint, which I'm very thankful for, and again said he would take care of it. Please have someone look into the problems I and others have had. I expect a better experience from a nice place to eat. Thanks for your efforts.
If you enjoy wine tasting and browsing the small shop they have then this place is for you. We made our reservations and showed up 15 minutes early just to make sure they could accommodate the small party of four. We ended up waiting almost 15 minutes past our reservation as we watched numerous others seated before we were able to. Plenty of open tables... possibly staffing issues? The food was delicious and very pricey. This is not somewhere you just go for casual dining. Make sure you have a light snack before you show up in case you have a long wait time as well.
We have been to Cooper's Hawk several times in the past and have had great food and service. Our recent visit was not the best. Drinks and appetizers were brought to the table promptly after we ordered them. However, it took a very long time to get our main course dinners. Also, our waiter seemed to have too many tables to handle as we had to ask several times for additional items that we had already requested. We were also not brought the proper silverware for certain items and had to take it from adjoining tables in order to eat. The beef on one meal was ordered with no pink and had to be sent back because it was undercooked. Another meal was not very hot. The restaurant did take an amount off our bill apparently because they could tell we were not happy.
Good food and good service. Thee of us went for dinner on a Sunday night, the restaurant, bar and tasting area were all packed. We were seated on time and the service was good throughout the meal, allowing us plenty of time to talk between courses. Each of us had a different chicken entrée, the gardeneira, madeira and mushroom crusted. Each was a large portion of chicken with a flavorful sauce or coating however the mushroom crusted entrée was not quite as moist. All and all, a good experience once again.
It was quite busy downstairs in the bar and tasting areas. Upstairs, it was a quiet and peaceful dining room. On our double date, we were able to communicate clearly. The wine was spectacular and the service superb. We will definitely be going back.
Our first, who were having their first meals that night, enjoyed it and have already posted on social media how impressed they were and that they plan to return soon.
I can't say enough great things about the food here. It was inviting, delicious and priced well.
Being this was our first time the flights are wine were a good way to taste the options available and I would also say that there was something for every one. The staff was friendly. Service is not fast we weren't there for a quick meal so it was perfect !
Everything was so good! From the wine, the pretzel bread, the appetizer (we went with the Caprese Flatbread), and my go to favorite, the Short Rib Bolognese! We first came here the night we got engaged, and we keep coming back for more. The last time we came, my husband suggested that we come once a week so he could get the Chicken Madeira. He would not stop raving about how delicious it was. The portions are generous, so I always have some to take home for leftovers. The Bolognese is just as good the next day!
We have come to love Cooper’s Hawk! My wife and I are creatures of habit. We find a place we like to eat and we frequent it. Cooper’s Hawk has become just that! One of our top 3 KC area favorites... We recommend Cooper’s Hawk to friends and family frequently!
I have been to Cooper's Hawk a few times. I have not been disappointed yet! I love going with my family and friend's! The service has always been exceptional, and I can always expect nothing less! The wine's are amazing, and the atmosphere is great as well. My only complaint is the wait in line downstairs at the registers to pay for anything.
