Meals aren’t about trends, shock value, or opulence.
Meals are about moments, memories and those who surround you at your table.
We believe in the complexity of simplicity, and the power of pure flavors. Our histories, vast and varied, deserve to be memorialized and romanticized by dishes that at once remind us of home and transport us to somewhere new.
We don’t make food for everyone else, we make food for you.
Very efficient and attentive staff! Delicious meal and would definitely recommend their specialty cocktails 🍹
Absolutely ZERO special about the food here. Seated at a table almost AT the bar. People kept bumping into us. Our waitress Nicole was less than pleasant. Zero interest in being there at all, it seemed. Overall, looks quaint, but there are 1,000 better restaurants in New Orleans. Don’t waste your time or money.
Great time as usual at CL. Met up with some friends that were from NY coming for the national championship game and wanted a New Orleans staple for brunch. Cocktails were great and service was also very good. A bit noisy but it’s brunch so it’s to be expected. I had the French toast and it was delicious! As always we will definitely be back!
Went to brunch vs dinner. Great brunch. The goat bolognese was awesome. Some foodies from out of town thoroughly enjoyed brunch.
Kimberly did an outstanding job with service. The pepper pot snapper was delightful, and the jerk chicken was surprisingly tasty in its presentation. Great atmosphere.
Thank you so much for this dinner - Compere Lapin was recommended by every single industry professional that I asked about New Orleans. We looked forward to this before we even left Detroit and it lived up to (and surpassed) all expectations.
We had the most amazing meal and service at Compere Lapin! We would definitely return and highly recommend it to others. A true gem in the city of New Orleans!
Our first meal in New Orleans and the best! Amazing restaurant with some of the best food I've ever eaten. Our server was wonderful and extremely helpful in guiding us what to order.
Vacation with friends & family. Absolutely our best experience in New Orleans. The food was unbelievably delicious, the wait staff was attentive without being overly so, the drinks are outstanding. We could not have asked for a better experience. We were there for lunch , but would love to go bd ack for dinner!
We visited for brunch. Wish we had time to come back for dinner.
The manager Summer and all of the staff was friendly and helpful as you could possibly ask for. Legitimately. But the food still speaks for itself. There biscuits are a must and we'll worth the price. Just go ahead and order 2 of them.
Coconut French toast was super different and overall we really enjoyed ourselves. We didn't try any alcohol as we're passing ourselves, but tried 2 mock tails that made us want to.
Will be back, may even stay in the hotel so this can be our base restaurant.
Everything was outstanding. The food was excellent and Mignon, our server, was outstanding. We will be back soon.
Food was modern, decor was tasteful and service was excellent. Everything we ate was delicious except for the gumbo which was a little salty for my taste.
Sarah was a phenomenal server. The food and drink were simply amazing. Staff delightful. Thank you for a great New Year’s Day meal!
Third straight year for New Years Eve. Great food and excellent service. Bill was a little lofty for everything for 2 people. But we will be back as soon as we get a chance.
Great tasting menu for New Year’s Eve. Oysters, caviar, lobster, duck and more.
Waitress was so uppity, but I can’t figure out why. Wish I knew her name, but she was the worst. Came from Peche.
Menu was prix fix as it was NYE. A little over priced. Wasn’t crowded which probably is due to the menu but lacked in ambiance.
The menu on New Year’s Eve was amazing. Everything was delicious and the service was very professional and friendly. One recommendation for the restaurant manager: invest in dessert cutlery. You can’t fully appreciate the dessert when you have too big cutlery. Overall it was a very good surprise and experience. We’ll come back.
NYE dinner was lovely.
Excellent food and service. Interesting decor. Had a wonderful time on New Year’s Eve.
Incredible!!!! My second time coming and dare I say it was better than the first. We had the conch croquets and goat (follow everyones advice and order the goat!!!!) on the regular menu. On special were a ranch crispy chicken with Caesar brussell sprouts and truffle pasta!!! EVERYTHING IS AMAZING. And our server was amazing and the entire experience was really great!
We were looking for something wonderful. I’ve eaten here before and the experience was fantastic.
Most of the food was perfect. I ordered the conch croquette appetizer that I disliked the creaminess of the interior. The flavor was enjoyable though and they were eaten.
The goat and other dishes were delightful. The desert a treasure. Soursap affogato spectacular.
Cool setting, bistro style, exposed brick walls and mosaic tile floors. Music was a bit loud, but tolerable. The best of the small bites was the arancini. Then we had tuna tartare and cobia seviche, both great with clean slightly spicy sauces. The best was the main course, the goat curry with sweet potato gnocchi, out of this world! So full of flavor, and soul-satisfying! Service was just right, attentive and informed. We highly recommend this restaurant!
Great brunch, highly recommend the fish toast and goat bolognese!
Dinner was excellent! The cocktails are unique and well designed. Our meal from top to bottom was a good fusion of multiple cuisines. The goat curry and jerk chicken are must haves!
The food was amazing! I really liked the fact that we were asked about food allergies and sensitivities at the hostess desk. Later, our server discussed the items we would need to avoid. Our server also gave us a good suggestion on a wine to compliment our entree selections. However, our appetizer came out wrong twice. I have a severe allergy to raw onions and each time the dish contained raw onions. We had also asked if the greens from the chicken could be placed in a separate dish, also because of allergies but sadly that didn’t happen.
Despite the mishaps the food was awesome, the room was warm and the server helpful. The zeppole was so good I wanted 5 more.
I want to end by saying one of the reasons we are visiting New Orleans is because we are having our own Black chefs tour. We started in Chicago, two restaurants here, then Savannah and NYC.
Dishes were creative, beautifully presented and satisfying. A very nice dining experience for a special evening.
Compere Lapin is special. Every person in our group loved their food. The biscuits were the best I have ever tasted! The oysters were perfect. They were fresh and clean with tasty sauces. The fried cauliflower was spectacular, as was the snapper dish. The wait staff is excellent and the restaurant is spacious and beautiful. This chef is extremely talented!
One of the best meals to be had in New Orleans. Really interesting dishes and very creative. Service is fantastic and the restaurant is a lot of fun to be in. Every dish we had as a group was outstanding, there wasn't a single miss. The shrimp starter is amazing and we had several specials that were incredible. And the cocktails are great as well. Can't recommend more highly.
Compère Lapin was a dining destination that exceeded my expectations! My initial interest was whetted by my spouse’s lunchtime leftovers packed in a togo container! How great the actual servings must be? No disappointment! This diner and said spouse were warmly greeted after entering a beautifully decorated rustic building located in the warehouse district. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. We were informed of daily specials, however, we concentrated on the menu that was presented on-line. This patron will refrain from using terms like “to die for” or “awesome”. Having stated that, if I had to experience one last meal, it would definitely include the snapper! We will be repeat customers!
Love the Caribbean take on creole. The Brussel sprouts appetizer special was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The jerk chicken was really good, although a tad overdone. Great wine selection and service. We would definitely go back.
Food was wonderful. The service was great. Will definitely be back.
We shared a Wagu burger and a shrimp appetizer. Both were exceptionally good! The environment is delightful and we look forward to more visits to New Orleans with restaurants like this one!
We went on Christmas so it was a prix-fixe, thus we didn't get to sample a wide variety of items. Nonetheless, what we did have was delicious. Atmosphere is lively.
Love the restaurant decor. Went on Christmas night for dinner and did not realize that they were doing a single menu. Food was good but they offered a lot of pork belly and not everyone in our party was a big fan of pork belly.
The entire evening felt rushed. Our reservation was at 6:30pm. We put in our drink order and practically within seconds after receiving our drinks, the apps were put on the table. Before finishing our apps they were bringing our main course. It seemed that they were trying to get us out as fast as possible and it wasn't like they were waiting to seat another table. When we left, the place was practically empty. For the hefty price that we paid, we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't sit and enjoy the meal at a slightly slower pace. I understand that it was Christmas but the entire evening felt extremely rushed and therefore it was not enjoyable.
The music that was being played was nice and fun but the acoustics in the dining room was awful. You could barely hear the person next to you speaking let alone the pp across from you.
All in all, I believe that Nina Compton is a good chef, however, I will not be going back. I believe we would have had a nicer meal at a better pace at other places for the price that we paid.
Had Christmas dinner here; outstanding!
Confused on wine by bottle pricing. Food was excellent. Service was very good. When bill was presented, there was confusion on wine pricing.
We ate here for Christmas dinner and it was amazing!
It was a wonderful Christmas experience.
The extras (vegetable sides) were all incredible. Order all of them to share.
Never disappointed! Stephanie our server was awesome and offered excellent suggestions. The drinks and food, from start to finish, were exceptional.
