Meals aren’t about trends, shock value, or opulence.
Meals are about moments, memories and those who surround you at your table.
We believe in the complexity of simplicity, and the power of pure flavors. Our histories, vast and varied, deserve to be memorialized and romanticized by dishes that at once remind us of home and transport us to somewhere new.
We don’t make food for everyone else, we make food for you.
Second time to this restaurant - we plan to come every time we visit New Orleans.
Very expensive. Wine mark ups are huge. Our waitress was sullen. Food was ok. But defs would not recommend or go back. Too many great options in this city to put up with this service and these prices.
Get the goat.excellent.Gary was a great waiter.little noisy but we were next to a 10 top
This meal ranks among the best I’ve ever had! I noted in our Open Table reservation that it was our anniversary. Upon check in we were congratulated on our anniversary and the entire staff had signed a card for us. The details were perfect.
Loved it, but the loud music (and I like loud music) was too heavy metal for a groovy place like CL.
Unbelievably magnificently delicious in every way.
Our server was charming. She made my birthday so special, and the food was spectacular.
Outstanding food and wine list. very knowledgeable waiter and table service.
Spectacular meal! Fabulous atmosphere, attentive staff and a memorable experience. I highly recommend!
This place sucked! The food was too salty. The pork seemed undercooked. We walked out still hungry. Not worth the expensive price tag. Will not eat here again.
Our night here was incredible. Delicious food & cocktails. Nice ambiance. My fav dish was the curried goat with sweet potato gnocchi, although everything we tasted (7 other dishes) was so good!
Great food and cocktails
Very tasty brunch. Also very friendly for kids. Got the chia pudding, chilled shrimp, French toast, goat pasta, and they were all good.
We went for brunch and it was great. Had french toast and biscuits and gravy with poached eggs. Both were delicious and we plan to return to try brunch price fixe which looks like a great deal.
The food was amazing! The house special curried goat was spectacular.
It is one thing to have a signature dishes, quite another to have a little change in menu on visits spaced a year apart. Service was engaging, but lacking in attention to detail, resulting in a poor pacing of the meal. Worth going wants for the imaginative cuisine, but once is probably enough.
What a joy. We shared 6 different appetizers to get a sense of the creativity and ability to deliver across the board by the chef. Each was both interesting and very good. Will definitely return on our next visit to New Orleans. PS: wine list was comprehensive and also well done.
Fantastic dining experience. A bit loud, but overall a great time. Food is fabulous! She is a very creative chef.
The service was impeccable. Everything about it was good, but the food was sublime. The goat curry is one of the most amazing dishes I’ve had in ages. You must visit this place
Hands down the most creative and flawlessly executed menu in New Orleans. Everything’s a bit of a twist or fusion, but having now sampled almost the entire menu I can say confidently that it all works.
Great experience all around. My wife and I dined here for her birthday and they knocked it out of the park. Food was outstanding—some of the best we had the whole time we were in town—and service was spot on. Max is a true professional and has a great personality. Next time we're in the city, we'll be back!
Excellent birthday experience for my husbands 40th. The card was a special touch. Thank you!!
Waitress was very helpful.
Will be back
Fried oyster sandwich was fantastic. A great blend of ingredients on a home made bun.
Everything was amazing. We loved how almost every dish was garnished with flowers. Not only did everything taste amazing it was also very visually pleasing.
I was in town visiting with my family and I knew I would need to stop by at Compere as I am a huge fan of Nina Compton (also went to Bywater Bistro which was great!). We had a great table by the windows and could see the bar and the rest of the restaurant which was fairly busy for a Monday lunch. We all ordered a lot of dishes and shared around. The spiced pumpkin soup was amazing and had a lot of depth of flavor as well as the chicken salad which was light but the fruit and pickled cauliflower gave it a great bite. I loved the tuna tartare probably the most, the banana chips were an excellent and crunchy addition to an otherwise softer dish. We split the passionfruit mousse dessert which was phenomenal!
Overall I really enjoyed the flavors and textures of everything, you could tell that it was a very well thought out menu and I can't wait to go back!
Service was impeccable. Food is honestly impressive, flavorful and complex. I'd go back in a blink.
Food was good, but ambiance, decor and service were great. Love the frozen avocado cocktail. Goat pasta unique and unctuous.
Beautiful space and delicious brunch!
The small plate roasts were amazing. Breakfast special chicken hash super tasty and not overly filling. Bloody Marys also have a special touch with a custom spice mix. Bottomless brunch punch is a good value.
There are an infinite number of reasons for us to visit New Orleans — but at the top of the list is going to Compère Lapin. One of the most perfect restaurants in one of the most perfect cities!
Amazing brunch, food, drinks and service were exceptional. Highly recommend.
We love Compere Lapin, however our last dinner we had a great meal up until the end of the night when the waitress spilt and entire glass of red wine on my friend's lap (literally from her waist to her feet on both sides of her legs) and did little to assist with cleaning it up. She didn't even offer to take the glass off of the ticket that she completely knocked over. My friend was headed to meet members of the foundation she runs and spent the rest of the night smelling like a wino. I wish the waitress or the restaurant had done more to assist with this.
My best dining experience in Nola since 2009. Good to see influences from different kitchen styles; makes food lighter and more modern than the typical local style
Really lovely lunch. Had the curried goat - highly recommended. Silky texture and interesting layer of flavor. Enjoyed the Tune Tartare as well. Service was perfectly executed.
Unreadable menu killed what could have been a great dining experience. Service was great, food was delicious. Being surrounded by diners forced to use their cell phones to illuminate the 6pt font was a total distraction. Great restaurants don't have to win design awards for their menus. Just stop it with the tiny fonts. Again, great service and food.
I would prefer to just speak to management. I am a local and frankly so frustrated with the front of house experience at this restaurant. The food is delicious. But service has a very long way to go.
