The Osteria at Cinghiale has the feel of an elegant tavern with white table-cloths and mahogany and leather banquettes. It features a large farm table for a special family-style dining experience.
The Enoteca at Cinghiale celebrates the modern Italian table. It is designed to be a playful section of the restaurant, as well as a gathering place. The space has a lively urban bustle that features rich woods, wrought iron chandeliers and a handcrafted marble tile floor. Adjacent to the main bar is a Salumeria that features traditional meats, cheeses and antipasti.
The menu is complimented by an over 500 label wine list that features Northern and Central Italian wines. World of Fine Wine magazine recognized Cinghiale for having one of the best wine lists in the world for 2016. Outdoor seating is available, weather permitting.
The food was all amazing. The ambiance was perfect. The attention of the service staff was excellent. My glass was never empty and they were taking away dirty and empty dishes almost as soon as they were empty. I 100% recommend this restaurant. I was seated on the casual side so it was a little more lively which I enjoyed. Nothing uncomfortably loud.
The food was quite good. My standard for Italian food is Ristorante Bartolotta in Milwaukee, and this didn't quite come up to that. But it was good. Service was a little slower than we'd hoped for - the wine came well before the courses with which they were paired (for my husband; I had a cocktail before the meal and wine with my entrée). We came for Restaurant Week so we could try it out, and I'm pleased with that decision. It's not my first choice among the Foreman-Wolf restaurants to revisit (Charleston, Petit Louis, Johnny's will get my repeat business before I would visit Cinghiale again). But it was good. It was fine.
Fabulous meal. Made for a wonderful date night!
It was fine. Maybe it was restaurant week “blah” or the ravens game... the service was not up to the usual standard. I waited a very long time for my first cocktail and it was downhill from there in terms of service. The food was good but not the usual “great”. This happens to be my favorite restaurant and I’ve been many, many times and I will return many more time. Tonight was just “off”.
Beautiful restaurant with terrific atmosphere. Best charcuterie in Baltimore. The grilled calamari is fantastic and the sauce is great for dipping bread in too. The pasta and risotto were available in half orders and also terrific. Parish is amongst the best servers in Baltimore.
Jimi was great. The enoteca was packed and therefore, the noise level was very high and filtered into the other dining room. Squid ink pasta was all I could imagine it to be! Excellent
Once again, a fantastic meal at this great restaurant. Always hits the mark. Great food, personalized service, happy family!
Food was fantastic, service was efficient and well timed. Would highly recommend.
New Year’s Eve
Had a very good experience at Cinghiale. It was very crowded as expected, but we were seated almost exactly at our reservation time.
Our server was very nice and explained some of the items on the menu. It took a while to get drinks and get the evening going, but I will chalk some of this up to them being very crowded.
Each of us enjoyed our first course. My mother-in-law had the mushroom soup, my wife had the swordfish and I had the ham. The plating was very nice and you could tell that attention was paid to each dish.
Four our second course, we each had the Agnolotti that was stuffed with Guinea Fowl Ragu. We all agreed that this was the highlight of the night. I would go back just for that dish.
For our third course, my MIL had the Rockfish, my wife had the Monkfish, and I had the short rib. The fish dishes were very good, but I was a bit disappointed in the short rib. It wasn't as tender as it should have been, and I didn't care for the way it came together. I wouldn't order it again.
For dessert, we each had the Blackberry Semifreddo. It was also very good.
My wife and I had the wine pairing and we enjoyed each glass.
I would like to go back on a regular night to try some items off their regular menu.
We were disappointed in the supposed "view" of the Baltimore fireworks. The restaurant billed their celebration with a view of the fireworks. From the window in the restaurant, we probably saw maybe six to eight bursts. After a while, we just sat back down and enjoyed our coffee. I looked at the fireworks on social media the next day and we couldn't see the majority of the show from the restaurant.
I would definitely go back, but I wouldn't go if I wanted to see the NYE fireworks.
A great New Year’s experience: food, wine, ambiance, and location for spilling out at midnight to watch the harbor fireworks - with their glass of champagne in your hand!
Experience was mediocre at best.
Many failures for such an evening(NYE). Reserved sitting not given and no explanation provided. Wine pairings not communicated with each course. Red heavy wine served with fish(so we ordered white separately) Some servings were cold. Definitely put a damper on New Year’s eve spirits.
We’ve spent a lot of NYE’s at Cinghiale and love it. This year was another good year however, we’ve had better. I hate to say this but it was underwhelming this year. The risotto and the duck were very salty which has never been the case. The duck was cooked perfectly, just over salted. The Prosecco cake was dry and tasteless. However, we had an amazing 2012 Brunello which worked so well with our choices. We’ll be back! We love it there.
Dinner (the food) was exceptional. We also had the wine pairings with each course, my wife's pairings worked well, but they were 0 for 3 on mine, the last was so bad I had to send it back. Overall, I still highly recommend Cinghiale, just don't let them pick your wine.
We chose the night before New Year’s Eve. The restaurant was less than half full. Service was timely and courteous. Meal and drinks were all perfect. Awesome time.
Everything about the experience was top notch, especially the service; except for the cheese course. For the price, we had expected a proper board/slab with appropriate accompaniments. Turns out the cheese was cut in strips, served haphazardly on a plate with a chutney/jelly blob and hard bread/crackers bites that were not good. Love the restaurant, so hope they start doing something professional w/ the cheese course.
Lovely place. Nothing struck me as exceptional. It was my birthday and they were informed. No effort to reflect an added touch. For a nice night out, it’s a pleasant spot in Harbor East.
Had to shout to talk. Way too loud.
Absolutely phenomenal. Perfect date night spot. The service was outstanding and we felt like we always were given attention. Everything we had was outstanding, from the bread to the flan for dessert
This place is always great. The wine list is interesting; the food well prepared and served. The bread is excellent. I have been ordering the bronzino lately and do wish it were served with more interesting and colorful sides (two potatoes are too much, and one side of steamed potatoes would be best). We’ll be back!
One of the best dining experiences your can have. Food was a little bit weak, especially the Cinghiale Pork loin. Still a great experience. Love the place. Service was impeccable. Server Parish was fantastic. The restaurant did not have our open table reservation, but didn't miss a beat in getting us handled on a very busy night. Thank you!
My dinner was Veal Milanese...I wish I would have taken a picture.....it look grey with some pan fried marks...it was bland and had no flavor. I should have just sent it back out of the gate But I was hungry.. Plus when you send them your back you’re always waiting 20 minutes to half an hour and by the time you get it everyone else is done their meal. I ate about 1/2 of it...I gave up. I was so irritated. To the restaurant defense they did take it off my bill. But The reason why am irritated is because I can’t even imagine how it was let out of the kitchen looking the way it did. For a meal that’s $50 it should look Very appetizing. Needless to say I am highly disappointed. I guess I should’ve just gone to Aldo’s...they know how to make that dish right.
Everything was great except the service. Felt like we were being rushed so the staff could flip the table
Restaurant was not crowded but service was extremely slow and inattentive.
Cinghiale is our favorite restaurant in town for many years now. We visit it on average 2-3 times a month and we never had anything below perfection! Chef Lewandowski creates excellent Italian dishes using local and seasonal ingredients that we enjoy a lot, with respect for the original cuisine. The ambiance is perfect for any occasion and Ingrid and Andrew make sure that everything works out perfect with our reservations. Looking forward to our next visit already!
We just got back from Italy and we were surprised the food in particular the pasta was not as good.
This is truly my favorite restaurant in Baltimore. The maître d’ and wait staff are absolutely top-notch, friendly, and knowledgeable. The menu changes seasonally with the most magnificent blends of flavors & ingredients, complemented by one of the most extensive wine & craft cocktail selections anywhere. Classy, low key atmosphere make it perfect for date night or a business dinner or even a quiet dinner alone. A true gem in the heart of the city. Save room for the creative desserts!
Love the food and diversity of options. Halibut and gluten free pasta my wife had was excellent. Arugula salad, chicken and pasta I had equally superb. Service a bit slow but they were busy and kind. Good wine selection. A bit noisy.
Overall, our meal at Chinghiale was disappointing. Rushed service, boring menu, food was just OK. I’ll happily return for drinks and apps because I like the atmosphere, but I’ll go elsewhere for dinner.
Outstanding menu and wine list. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed food, ambiance, and service. We spent an hour at the bar beforehand and had an excellent martini, too.
Usually a very professionally run restaurant, they were a little off their game tonight service wise. My server didn’t even appear to be in uniform. Grabbed and poured the bottle of wine from the neck of the bottle(?). Strange. Food was delicious as always
As always, a great evening with family, celebrating the birth of our new grandson. Excellent service and food. Our favorite Baltimore restaurant.
Love this place
Enjoyed a nice relaxing dinner with a fabulous server.
Excellent Italian restaurant rivaling the best I’ve been to, both in the US and in Italy
Extensive wine list
Pricing actually less than I would have spent for similar food in my local area
No negatives and hope to eat here again
The service and atmosphere was as expected and everything we hoped it would be for an anniversary dinner. Unfortunately the food was very ordinary and not as we expected or hoped for.
Excellent food with excellent service. The menu is a feast with a strong wine list.
Amazing food, pretentious server
