1st time at Chi Chi since Avalon took over from Viceroy.
It was good, and we had good food, good service and sitting
at the pool was enjoyable. Thought it was a bit strange to be
eating while guests were swimming. If I were a guest at the hotel
I wouldn’t feel comfortable to have the diners sitting at the pool.
The atmosphere by the pool is not as private as it used to be.
Not sure I’d return because of this.
Nice little gem located in the middle of The Avalon Hotel. Our table was right off one of the swimming pools with a dozen or so other tables, which was quiet and perfect at dusk. (There is also inside dining.) The food was superb. I had the delicious Fall Salad, followed by a wonderfully creamy and filling vegetable risotto. My wife had the perfectly prepared pork schnitzel. The hotel is an out-of-the-way part of Palm Springs, so around and in the hotel was like a quiet oasis and the poolside table was romantic. And to top it off, the service was excellent. All in all, a wonderful evening.
Nice setting, good service, but my sea bass wasn’t good. Very expensive. $7 for bread, really?
Anniversary. The staff treated us so well and we so enjoyed the evening at Chi Chi
The atmosphere outdoors next to the pool (no kids or loud drunks, just guest tanning) under trees was peaceful and interesting. The service was great, very prompt and friendly. The food was served promptly and was delicious. The Ricotta pancakes with lemon curd and blue berries was amazing. The yogurt bowl was tasty. The beignets were good, but after just returning for New Orleans, they were shy of New Orleans quality.
Brunch here is everything! The staff is amazing & so very kind. Shout out to Josh- you were excellent, we will be back.
Server was exceptional- desert - Honey Toast- extraordinary!!
We had the tacos, which were good, but very expensive. Nine dollars per taco is a bit steep.
What a treat! Friendly service, good healthy selection of food and a great outdoor dining venue. What Palm Springs is all about.
Perfect dining experience in Palm Springs.
Ambiance is great by the pool with outdoor dining. Drinks, Food and Service is perfect. Palm Springs at it's best. Outdoor dining.
We wanted a nice place to celebrate American Thanksgiving and Avalon Hotel/Chi Chi was suggested so we made the trip from Indio.....we had the turkey dinner special...not your traditional meal, but it was tasty....the Brussel sprouts however were way undercooked and pretty much impossible to cut...and no potatoes... :( ...service was good at first and then dwindled off, its cozy but the tables were close and you could hear everybody's convos....I might try it again...overall it was a nice evening....
Great waiter. We had a chicken dish which was prepared with mushrooms and was cooked perfect.
We’ve eaten here several times and each time the staff has been friendly and accommodating. The menu is not huge but provides delicious options for all types of diets. If you go, try to eat outdside by the pool; it’s very casual and nice.
Great poolside restaurant, good food a little over priced.
We sat on the patio and enjoyed a very nice lunch and drinks.
Amazing ambiance but extremely expensive. They also bring out bottle water and charge, for environmental reasons I do not really believe in bottled water if your tap water is good. They poured tap water in to our glasses as refills on top of the bottled water so the tap water is clearly good.
This is a special occasion type restaurant for sure. Food was good. Service was great.
Hotel looks gorgeous.
We had a wonderful experience at Chi Chi. Great food, excellent service, super ambiance, and very accommodating to our pooch. Only issue was length of time between ordering and arrival of meal. Will definitely go back again.
Although the setting and the service were very pleasant the food was tasteless and bland and overpriced. Distinctly lacking in seasoning and imagination.
We have dined here on several occasions and have always had a great experience. The staff is very accommodating and go out of their way to insure your every need is satisfied. The menu is limited but you will find something for everyone on it. Food is very well prepared and the flavors are intense.
Harrison was great and we knew him from the previous Citron. The cauliflower appetizer was very good. After that it was downhill for the food. The chicken in my zucchini-pasta dish was dry and very chewy. Both roast chicken dishes were dry and tasteless. The charred octopus presentation was ordinary and the taste was"OK", first and last time at Chi Chi until changes are made. Sorry.
What a great dining experience. Fab drinks, delicious food and outstanding service. A perfect evening.
Friends suggested we try this local place. Great bar and restaurant with a sleek modern decor. Terrific staff and great food and drinks. We had the place to ourselves - it was lots of fun.
Love this place! I've only gone for dinner a couple times and it was fantastic both times. The Branzino was about the best I've ever had. They have a special 4 course dinner for the summer that is about the best deal I've come across this summer. I've been here many times for breakfast/lunch/brunch and it's always wonderful. Love sitting by the pool with my dog. Highly recommended!
Great room. Very good menu- food is very good. Service isn't properly trained - but they get an A for effort.
Chef Jason is phenomenal!!!!!!
My sister and I were the only diners at 9pm on a weekday. We both ordered the chicken ($36 each). It was served on the bone and my two pieces were leathery tough and inedible. I tried to eat it as I was really hungry and the flavor was good but it took over a minute of chewing to get any of it to go down. I had to spit out much of what I chewed. I ended up just leaving the chicken on my plate (one and a half pieces) and ate the mushrooms around it.
My sister said one of hers was tough and inedible but the other was better so she ate that.
The waiter was extremely friendly and apologized, offering to have more cooked or bring us something else. We declined since by then it was getting late. But when the bill came he had charged us the full amount: $72 for 1.25 pieces of mediocre chicken. We were going to book a couple of nights at the hotel but after that we decided not to.
Disappointed, Short ribs were tough and chewy had to send back. Got fish that was a lot better.
Don't think we will be going back soon.
Harrison took great care of us and the Restaurant Week menu was really good
terrible service..waited between every course..place was pretty empty and we would never go back..$16 margheritas..a total rip off overall
We had the 4-course restaurant week menu and it was great! The flavors were balanced and delicious! Wasn't sure how it would be since it is a restaurant in a hotel but it was yummy and the service was on point! Bonus: we saw actor Peter Dinkledge (sp?) of Game of Thrones at the bar...fun night overall!
The restaurant week menu was excellent - chi chi embraced the week instead of serving small portions and things that don't represent their regular cuisine to encourage you to order from the menu. The food was excellent and dining poolside was was beautiful. We even saw a Hollywood star which made the visit even more special. We'll definitely be back!
What a wonderful surprise. We had apprehensions, at first, because this was a reincarnated restaurant from a previous one that wasn't that great. We were there for dinner for restaurant week and they offered a special 4 course dinner for $39.00. What a bargain. However, their regular menu is very expensive, but, they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's also located in the Avalon Hotel which may speak to why their menu items are so expensive. Maybe they cater to the Los Angeles crowd? Service was good, however we felt a little rushed at the beginning because we just received our cocktails and the waiter was immediately asking for our order. But when we told her to give us time, she was more than accommodating. All-in-all a great dinner for restaurant week. This is definitely a special occasion restaurant.
Great place for breakfast!! Also dog-friendly. Seating inside is nice . . . pool-side option is great!!
Very disappointing And it was expensive. mediocre at best
Food great. Atmosphere great. Service could step up a notch in presence, polish and confidence!
Always a great experience when dining at Chi Chi! The food was beyond!
We dined at several places in Palm Springs last weekend. All were wonderful, but this is the one I would DEFINITELY visit again ... in a second! I will recommend it to anyone I know planning to visit Palm Springs, too. The ambience was incredible for brunch, and so comfortable even outdoors at 11am. Our group of 5 each ordered something different. All of us raved about our dishes, but the Avocado Toast and the pancakes were clear winners.
Service off. Food served cold. Not well prepared. Maybe avoid on the chef's day off?
We are locals who eat out frequently, and brought out of state visitors for a reunion dinner. Although the food was very good and the ambiance perfect, the even
